You all must realize they will be doing something with if you have amazon prime you get xyz cosmetic or even worse prime for prime status in game for 5% crafting and do boost etc... Hail King Bezos
If New World sells crafting boosters in a game with a player driven economy, that is blatant P2W. Everything else proposed is tolerable (deep down I despise it but this is where the industry is headed).
I don't like cash shops, but if they are going to offer cosmetics in the shop, does that mean you cannot earn cool looking cosmetics through adventuring? Getting a nice new sparkling sword is a big motivator for doing repetitive content. If they are going to be selling boosts, that means the game will be designed to be a horrible grind in order to make the boosts enticing.
We all know that statements like this about there being nothing more than cosmetics for sale at launch will only last until the second or third month after release. It's the primary reason why I no longer play any modern MMO's and at present stick to single player games and the occasional nostalgia trip through EverQuest or World of Warcraft legacy style servers. I can only hope that since Brad is gone, that Pantheon will continue with its "no cash shop" policy, subscription based business model at and beyond release.
KiraTV is nothing but a guy who hates his life and feels the need to bash everyting and everyone.
He is right most of the time- but when will the dude have something uplifting on his channel? Its like an endless void of negativity.
Also I think everyone saw this comming.
His videos have gone from honest reviews to just finding any reason to bash games and insults people in his videos if you dont agree with him. He even rants on cosmetics are P2W. He no longer can be subjective but tells you what to think. That a line reviewers should not cross.
"Quality-of-life items or boosts," specifically mentioning ways for players to "improve their time spent levelling up their character and trade skill experience."
Giving a yodel to anyone out there who does not know what quality-of-life really means? Ok, no yodels bounced back of our posters so they all realise its is a euphemism for P2W or easy mode.
They are going to put in boosts of some kind to speed up progression for levelling for attributes and craft skills. Because it seems there is no separation of PvP and PvE equipment, that means levelling in PvE gives a direct PvP advantage as well in regards to crafting.
If a cash shop starts without P2W they can end up P2W within 2 years, this sounds like they will be full blown P2W by the end of a year. But then it is guess work, only launch will tell.
I'm a multi-millionaire and if there's a cash shop my financial dominance over 90% of the population will now not only show irl but in this MMORPG as well. Were you hoping to escape from people like me so we could all have an even playing field in a virtual fantasy world? Too bad. They should change thr name of this game from New World to, Normal World.
I personally dont care if someone gets there first. I also take my time to enjoy the journey. I have never suffered because 10% of the population rush to end game faster then me. It makes me laugh people would spend money to make a game easier and skip content. NW is a B2P game, so spending money to spend more money to skip content its odd IMO.
I dont agree with this being P2W, as 3-8 months later, I will be right on par with anyone who skipped content, only I will have done things they have not. Eared achievements they missed. And if they want these things, they have to go back on a fully leveled char and play them on easy mode. Boring. So in the end, they have saved no time.
I hadn't even realised that New World was planning on having a cash shop, let alone that they were flirting with P2W ideas.
Very disappointed, but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. I wasn't planning on playing the game based on my poor experience during alpha, but now I definitely wont be playing it.
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr7X Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr4X Shaman
So they're essentially saying the game will be balanced around monetisation right from the get go. I know little about New World, but the moment-to-moment gameplay better be stellar if it wants any shot at longevity.

But then someone else pays for it later on?
Oh wait...that's politics, not Amazon! My bad!
(Totally kidding here folks, just making a joke!)
