Actually, kai will be playing again next week. I fly back to the US on monday and should be home by tuesday morning. Everything goes ok and I dont get sick I should be back in game by wednesday next week.
Then I am going to find every jedi hunting BH out there and learn every dirty sneaky little trick available. After that its Elmer Force Hunter..... "Be vewy vewy qwuiet. I am hunting Wedi. huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhu."
And just FYI AA since the topic has come up in other threads. I am not a cynic. I am a realist. Just sounds cynical at times.

Not realist about a fantasy game. A realist about dealing with the companies and such. Some people tend to butter it up. Pad it down. Make the company look all priestly and perfect. When in fact if most people did to each other what game companies did to people, they would still be serving time in prison.

And btw, most people DO do what game companies do to each other. It's called business, strictly business.

Ever paid to see a movie that was just raw footage with a guy stating he had to go get a "Cool drink of Coca-Cola, the #1 soft drink in america" every other line?
Look at it like this. The developers of this game put out a bug fix patch that caused even more bugs including the servers to literally collapse for days. Eventhough they knew and were fully aware of the bugs and just how dangerous they were they still made the public announcement "We never anticipated any of this."
Let me tell you something. If your a roofer, built a roof out of shooty materials that causes it to collapse, and your only statement is "I never anticipated any of this."?????? You'd still be serving time in prison...
Game companies get away with figurative murder compared to what we would let other people and companies get away with. Its quite intriguing to me actually. People support them knowing full well that in any other genre or product line, they wouldnt settle for second or third best. But games its ok.
If everyone here bought a VCR for $30 and got it home, only to find it didnt work, in fact there is note saying it will be fixed in the next 6 months to a year.... I guarun-dang-tee you we will be taking that sucker back. But if you buy a game for the same cost that was full of bugs you will not only keep it, you would still try to use it.
The point is that most of us are so addicted to games and so excited we gladly let the game companies walk all over us and treat us like sheep. We want everything "NOW! NOW! NOW!" in this point and click generation. Heck we even go so far as to make up excuses for them... "Well its real hard to make a game." or "They cant find everything.". Yeah lets see you use that excuse when a defect in a Honda car puts your rump in traction for 6 months..... Some of us are so blind to and, honestly, so dang stupid that we let the game companies get away with almost anything. Every year our standards lower as to what is acceptable condition. Its only a matter of time before something like what happened with Mournng is considered acceptable.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call realism. People hate it because, well the truth is sometimes painful. But that is reality.

They are fooking games man! Intellectual property, not tangible properties for sale at a local outlet. Everything you said is pure b.s. because it's only your opinion. Games are art, not appliances.
Perhaps you don't know the difference between a program and an airplane??
A program is information stored on a disc or other such format made up of code or instructions that tell your computer to behave in a certain manner.
An Airplane is a winged vehicle made up of physical parts to attain flight.
You can't compare the two and no your post was not witty nor was it realistic. You only show how impatient, immature and unrealistic you are about the gaming world. If that last post is a true indication of what you deem to be an acceptable game, then just go play Tetris. It is the ONLY perfect game ever created, but I'm sure you could find a bug or some other problem with it.
My advice to you is don't play MMOG's, they just won't ever be good enough for you.

Games are a media item just like music, movies, magazines, books etc. Art and media. They are also a commodity since we buy and sell them. We make money from them. They fall under the same rules of supply and demand as anything else would. Hence they should fall under the same rules of consumer awareness as items do. Your saying their art and hence allowed to be released like trash only proves it further.
So answer these sizzle chest.
Would you pay to go see a movie, the day it was released, that wasnt edited... completely raw.... the company says they will edit it and add the sound, special effects, and put everything in the right order over the next year????
Would you pay for a CD that was scratchy, missing whole songs that were fully advertised as being on the back of the cover, skipping, not even the same musical group in some of it, and even a song or two copied from some other CD??
Would you buy a Star Wars novel missing the cover (dealer says the cover will come a month later), two chapters are missing, the ending is actually the final chapter of a biography about Clinton, typeface is all messed, and parts of it are in chinese??
So go ahead and answer these. I really want you too. Because SWG was released in far worse condition then any of those. And AO was worse then all three. And Mourning... well less said about that, the better...
Those are the same as games and again I guaruntee you if I or any sane person bought something in that condition, it would be taken back quick.

I skipped a grade and I'm in the top percentile of my high school class, and I can say with complete honesty I enjoy playing SWG.
I'm not claiming to be a genius but I'm definitely not unintelligent.

Case in point. Go read the forums. When you have thousands of posts on lag then guess what mate? The game has lag. Just because you or I are lucky enough not to deal with it doesnt make it any less real. And to someone who does suffer huge amounts of lag then says the game sucks because of it, HE IS STATING A FACT. Because in his world it is a fact. No opinion. A fact. Doesnt matter that its his modem or his video or whatever. For him the game sucks and that is a fact. Just because you dont have it happen to you doesnt make it any less real or any less factual.

Fact is Kai, that when I played SWG at release it was a fun game that made tons of people happy. Comparing it to a scratchy CD with songs missing is pure delusion.
Name me one MMORPG that launched perfect. While you're busting your brain trying to invent a game that did, consider this: MMORPG's are in their infancy still, they haven't even been around 10 years. You aren't going to get a perfect one in your lifetime in all likelihood.
I just don't think you understand the scope of these games, but I stand behind what I said earlier: don't play MMORPG's, none will ever live up to your expectations, EVER.
And btw before you list some game that you think had a perfect launch, I will find otherwise just by googling its name with the word "bugs" after it.

Right IF there are tons of people saying they lag, then there is probably a problem on the server side, I won't argue with that, but if you're the only one complaining then no I won't beleive you. And no that isn't a fact, The game sucks is not a fact it's an opinion. If you want to back that opinion by saying "This game sucks because I lag all the time" I'd probably come back with, "That's weird I play on a laptop with a dial up modem and don't have a problem" On the other hand if you say "This game is the worst game ever, the devs are so incompetent they can't fix the lag issue" Then I'll respond a bit more harshly, because there is no lag issue if you're the only one feeling it.

First SoR and early SWG (pre-holocron) both lived up to my expectations.
So you want to keep giving game companies excuses for poor releases. Using the whole "They are still in their infancy" arguement. Yet explain to me how come each year the release of games get worse and worse with more and more bugs. It should be getting better and better Explain to me how come SOE/LA release patch after patch with more and more bugs.... You cant.
You want to know why? Its because WE ALLOW THEM TOO. You can deny it all you want but if we werent there with our credit cards in hand buying games in such shotty condition, then the game companies would not be releasing them in such shotty shape. MMOs maybe in their infancy but digital games are older then CD baby. Dont tell me its just technology advancing too fast because if it was then it would be advancing across the board. Not just in game developement. Planes would be falling out of the sky. Cars would be blowing up. "Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!".
