Then they offered the expansion to the public as a preorder, which many, many Creature Handler's did. Then they push out the (unexpected) NGE. Creature Handlers then find out that not only are the promised improvements not coming, but THE ENTIRE PROFESSION HAS BEEN ELIMINATED FROM THE GAME. The Creature Handler's that preordered were lied to and tricked into buying the expansion. Sony had to be shamed into offering refunds on the preorders.
That is blatant lying, false advertising and unethical business practices.
Research before posting :p The revamp of CH happened many months before the NGE, the only thing you are right about is the taming necklace which would have let CH's tame pets over level 70 in the ToOW expansion. Anyone who felt "tricked" was offered a refund on the expansion.
To the poster above me, you will need to make your own mind up if the NGE has ruined the game for you. For me, no it hasn't and I'm still really enjoying my time in the game. If you cancelled before the 15/11/05 you can install the game from the origianl CDs and login for a free 15 day trial so you can see for yourself. This isn't the same 10 day trial that everyone can get, it works like you re-activated your old account.

I was a Master Creature Handler. That enough research for you? And you admit in your own post that they promised things for the CH, offered in a preordered expansion pack, then deleted the profession and had to refund the moneys. So what's your point?

See i wasnt a big swg fan and from what i tell its not the change that actually pissed people off its the fact that the old school swg people played and played put hours into the game some too months to get jedi now they make this change and just basically hand  stuff out that took months of gameplay for old school players. So yeah swg did rip some of them off basically.I like the new game changes because im fairly new too the game but i do see why people got ticked. In away SoE made more SoE haters.

My point was that the CH had already had their revamp before the NGE, you made it sound like one was about to happen until the NGE hit.

Yes, it did sound like the NGE hit before the revamp even occured.

    I never played the game.

However, I find it irrelevant. How long did the players get to enjoy those new goodies before they did not only lose that, but their entire profession?

I'm not trying to hurt SWG by this post. But you'll need to make a darned good point if this is not gonig to end up with SWG having gone way beyond "changing the experience". "You might be subscribed to a different, yet similar game by the end of the month" would have been a better statement from what I see. And unless what I see is all blatant lies AGAINST SWG then I don't think my impression will change.

However, if one is able to leave the old SWG behind (or never played it) one might be able to enjoy the new game. Maybe. If it is any good.

    The future: Adellion
Common flaw in MMORPGs: The ability to die casually
Advantages of Adellion: Dynamic world (affected by its inhabitants)
Player-driven world (beasts won't be an endless supply of mighty swords, gold will come from mines, not dragonly dens)
Player-driven world (Leadership is the privilege of a player, not an npc)

    People,

For the last time. The Jedi issue is *****minor***** for most people who are really upset about NGE. The vast majority of players who don't like the NGE are not really upset about the Jedi thing. Frankly nobody I know really gives a rip about the changes to Jedi... in the end Jedi will wind up just as overpowered as they always were simply because the jedi players will whine until they get what they want, as always.

The reason veteran players are upset/angry is because the fundamental gameplay was radically altered. SWG is no longer even REMOTELY similar to what it once was.

    What it was:
    1) Skill based
    2) Open ended
    3) Roleplay Oriented
    4) Non-Loot Based
    5) Diverse
    6) Complete control of your character
    7) RPG style combat

    What it is now:
    1) LEVEL based
    2) Close-Ended - you are locked to 1 CLASS with certain skills. You cannot ever change your mind and go back and try something else unless you re-roll your character
    3) Loot Based - Crafters cannot make equipment anywhere NEAR as good as loot that drops
    4) Non-Diverse. A Jedi is a Jedi is a Jedi. A smuggler is a smuggler is a smuggler. A BH is a BH is a BH etc. There are no variances whatsoever. It's even more restrictive than WoW or EQ2
    5) No control of your character beyond the armor/clothing that you wear. You cannot customize your template *at all*
    6) Semi-Twitch style combat (sorta half-assed FPS system now)

Those are VERY major changes to the CORE functionality of the game. It went from an open ended skill system (a-la UO) to a closed level system (a-la EQ).

And you wonder why vets are pissed? And you think it has to do with a few whiners that are mad about their jedi not being uber? Please, don't insult your own intelligence. Do a little research into exactly what was done. There are HUNDREDS of threads regarding the changes that the NGE made and why players are mad. Sure there's a vocal group of former Jedi players who are griping about their 'time' being wasted. But the underlaying fact is that the entire game was changed. IT's NOT the same game. It's not even a SIMILAR game anymore. It's a TOTALLY DIFFERENT GAME now. The only similarity is that it's using the old graphics.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.
    Sig image Pending
    Still in: A couple Betas

Reason I quit my 5 accounts was that SOE & Lucasarts proved beyond doubt they have no ethics...

They pushed it and pushed it over the two years but the NGE was the last straw for alot of people....

Won't be playing anymore SOE games again.

I'm just waiting for the NDA agreements to expire on alot of the dev's and cs people who've left lately and see what they say image

Sorry got to stop you there thats totally false.Alone on this forum you can see people openly complaining about the jedi and just opening the first few pages of the offical page under general discussion shows how disgruntled people are about the jedi.

It is a major factor for moaning though there is good reason for vets to complain about the other changes tbh but the jedi issue is top of the list for the current or should i say recently ex-SWG players.
