How do I fullfill my needs?

ImperatorianImperatorian Member Posts: 1,000

Hello!

I used to play EVE. While I found it was a fun game, I didn't like that in order to mine and rake in millions per day (or even hour) I had to depend so much on others.

I was wondering if anybody knows what the best and safest way for someone who (while I enjoy grouping) wants to pop in for 30 minutes / an hour, and still rake in some isk?

Also note that I'll probably be starting with a new character, so what is the quickest way to achieve this goal?

Are there perhaps any corps dedicated purely to making money?

Thanks in advance!

For a starting character I think the best way to make isk would be to run the Agent Missions. You can open your map, and make the stars display where your agents are. Find an agent in the field that you want to do. Like Security if you want combat missions or Distribution if you want courier missions. From combat missions you will get mission rewards as well as loot to sell and reprocess.

Thank you! However, I kind of meant long term. And from what I gather, missioning isn't a very long term choice?

Also, I'd like it to be as non boring as possible. And if it is boring, I'd like to be able to do it mostly alt+tabbed. Missioning provides neither, if I'm not mistaken.

Actually, if you really wanted to, Eve was the only game where I could actually play another efficiently on another computer. You could also read a book or watch TV if you wanted. This is by doing Courier missions. You just hit autopilot and wait for your ship to arrive. This is very boring though, and I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to do this hehe.

Yes, you can do Mission Running long term. For every mission you complete you gain Loyalty Points. Every so often your Agent will offer you rewards for these Loyalty Points. If you get high enough, your agent will start offering you Implants and even Ships. You can use this yourself, or sell them on the market for big profits.

As you are advancing to the higher level agents it may be boring, even doing Combat ones. The first two level of Agents is very easy to do. You need to work on the low ones to gain faction, unlocking the higher level agents. You can also train some Social skills, such as Connections, to raise your faction quicker.

Another thing you could do is join a Corporation that is located in 0.0 space. Just check out the recruitment forums here and on the official site. Then, you will never be bored. There will always be some high bounty rat to kill or a war to fight with another corporation. ::::28::

well if your looking long term... LEarning skills, get all of those to lvl 5, then buy the Advance learning skills get them all to lvl 4, or 5 depending. THEN go into industry, and mining barge skills. This will take about 4 months prior to get all the learning skills, but its damn worth it. This is what i did anyways, im now 7 months into the game on my new char with 7 million skill points and growing, the learning gives you an edge for the LONG HAUL, and yes if your looking to make money, its called ninja mining, mine enough to fill your cargo hold, and pop back to the station (make sure you have bookmarks) and back to the belt, never letting out a can. Easy to run if pirates, and nothing to protect cause its on your ship, and station. Best advice of solo mining i can give you, or mine in empire?

The best way to make money while popping in only 30 mins a day is to play the markets. Build equipment and ships and sell them, or buy and trade goods and setup ways of moving them around (remote buy and sell orders).

Its hard to do well - 1st need the accounting, marketing and other sundry skills for playing the market at a range and having lots of orders open
    - 2nd you need to know the markets, what is common, what is rare, how much they are worth etc. This is the really tough part.

my GF played a little and got into this - she made enough money to buy me a battleship and full set of implants as a "gift" while still getting tons of stuff herself... she had never fired a shot in anger and never left safe space - mainly trading and manufacturing in Caldari space.

I cant do it myself - no patience for the markets - but basically you can setup buy and sell orders, go away for a day or two, and when you log back in you have your money :)

To my mind, Eve is really a group game.

Popping in for a half hour or whatever, I guess some corps might allow it but it doesn't give you time to establish friendships with other players which is where Eve shines.

It sucks as a solo game.

    pretty true actually.
If you want a solo game - get elite, homeworld, or some other similar game.

I'd vote for 0.0 mining. A covetor can mine a can worth of crock or bist in a half hour and make between 8-12 million.

That however takes a corp with a POS in 0.0 and an established team of miners / haulers.  You'll also probably go nuts in the first week if you don't like mining (or rather everything else you can do while mining).
