Support classes worth anything?

I'm interested in this game and  currently looking for a buddy pass.  If/when I play the game, I'm thinking of going as one of the support classes but I've heard that they aren't that good because people solo much of the time.  So my questions are, can support classes solo decently?  How's their armor compared to the other classes? and how useful are they to convoys?  Thanks for the help, and hopefully I'll see some of you in game, wheather its the trial version or the real deal.

Support classes are not true support classes.  They solo just fine.  All classes have some grouping buffs for the most part, all can also kill alone pretty good.
