Adding PvP To The Game (Flame Free Please)

Before I start, I want to say I would like a clean, nice MATURE dicussion on this.Ok, so I personaly believe it would be awsome to have pvp in this game. And it might happen, because the devs are pro pvp, they are just scared to add it because they think they will piss of some fans. But alot of fans want pvp. So here are my ideas on the issue.

1v1-
There would be this server wide tournament every month. People from each class would pvp eachother to become known as the master of their class on the server they play on. To enter this you would need to go to the tournament manager an sign up. You would be randomly selected to battle someone else who signed up and is around your level. As you win more battles you face more and more people untill finally you are battling the other finalest. Becoming the master of your class would allow you to use special items and have a raised solcial status with NPC. So you would not have to pay so much for something. This tournament would restart in the last week of the month. And if the master does not reapply he will not be able to become master again.

Group vs. Group-
This would be just for fun. To test your group or guild ageinst someone elses. BAsicly you would go to the tournament master, in a full party, and you (the party leader) would apply to battle. You would be randomly selected to be faced ageinst another group, with levels around yours. If you win, great, if you dont, oh well. Try again.

I think the devs could refine these ideas some more, but they should not conflict with the roleplayers.

And I know, I cannot spell ^^

Keep it nice.

Edit: Oh yea, forgot to say I played the DDO closed beta. So I know a little something or two about the game itself. But almost nothing about D&D ^^

IMO DDO is the one game on the market that doesn't need PvP.  What it DOES need is something besides dungeon crawls to do... and it needs MORE dungeon crawls as well.  Doing the same missions over and over because there's nothing else to do is just boring.  This is the crux of the problem with DDO.... Other than constantly grinding through dungeons there's nothing to do... which makes it not worth a monthly fee... not by a long shot.    Even if it is the best implementation of a 'thief' class since UO :)

Because some fans want pvp. Pvp, although not ment to be in D&D is there. You are able to battle others on P&P. So if they really wanna use the spirit of D&D then they should add some pvp. And quest are fun, but alot of players dont believe it can hold the game up.

Uhh... in all the years I have played AD&D I have *rarely* seen a player verses player combat in AD&D.... It's one of the least of DDO's shortcomings.  Yah it'd be nice to have a dueling system but that's the least of their worries right now, imo.  A PvP system isn't going to keep people playing.  If people want PVP there are other MUCH BETTER games to play for that.

As far as I am concerned...  They can add PvP if they want.  Just make it a seperate server so those who do not want to PvP don't have to.

But as was stated before...  PvP is not the biggest thing wrong with DDO, and PvP alone will not save DDO.

I don't think pvp will help the game any.  I do think that pvp has a place in DnD though.  Although rare, in the campaigns I have played there was always atleast one instance of pvp.  There's always the paladin and the rogue getting into it or something similar.  Open pvp would just be stupid.  I think if they found a way to implement a pvp system based on alignment and reason it would be accepted.

I'm against PvP for the fact that range characters have little to work with to stop melee character from getting up close.

    /agreed

And although it might seem that the "master of the class" is implementable, by the above mentioned reason it is not. Imagine two rogues fighting, on has high dex and str, other has high dex and int. The one having high str and low int would be a poor rogue, but would kick the ars of the high int one. Also what of multiclasses?

PvP won't solve anything, adding 10 times this much content is a start. It was clear to everybody DDO is about character and combat, prob is, they don't have enough content, that is the biggest prob.

If you played NWN, the game had a number of overpowering classes and multi-class builds. Rogue, Wizard, Sorcerer, Cleric, Rogue/ShadowDancer/Fighter, Arcane Archer, ArcaneArcher/Monk, Champion of Torm/Paladin, etc. The list goes on and on, Rangers, Barbarians and Warriors were overwhelmed both normal classes and multi-classes that had place in the game, especially in PvP.

Are you a pvper or a ganker?  Seems to me with the request for flames free please, that you don't like pvp.

I am not a fan of pvp in dnd.
