I am perhaps the biggest fan unreal ever had .This game deffinately looks like unreal engine but the mapping looks more like half life.
The mapping was not well thought out to handle a skillfull FPS type game. The areas are just too wide open and big. This will hamper weapon balance alot. This will also guarantee colour cheats and zoom cheats.
The reason i don't find the mapping to very good at all,is that there is very little in the way of strategic manouvers/obstacles.Anyone that has ever done mapping on an unreal engine knows that just throwing out a number of high building like structures takes no mapping skills at all.The video looks like a very good game engine with a very weak team behind it.
This video is of course not the end all to the game as there will be other maps and prolly changes before the game is released.I am very skeptical of asian developers as they have never shown much in the way of stopping cheats.North americanized games clamp down on colour cheats and zoom cheats quickly as well as going after botting.Punkbuster and the midnight interactive team have been great advocates against cheating here in N.amerk.
This game for sure shows to have GREAT potential, but it's all up to the webzen crue to show some talents in game design, after all we expect more here in north america than just MU clone type games.God forbid they use any virtual selling ,that would really stereotype the asian market into a total joke, let's hope not.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
The graphics look good, the gameplay looks a lot like UT. Quick respawns, weapons to pick up that are scattered across the map and the jump pad at one point. From this video, one may get the impression that Huxley is a typical shooter with additional meeting area.
From a MMORPG I expect a bit more persistance, with gear you acquire over time and a somewhat more story-bound handling of dying and resurrection. I'm starting to wonder if Huxley is maybe a bit misplaced on MMORPG.com.
I never really looked at it that way,but i think your most likely right.I think it does look a little too much like a FPS than a MMO,it deff not a mmorpg....mmofps..lol.They will throw in guilding/clans with very little thought just to qualify it as a mmo.All in all if it plays anything like unreal i will prolly be satified, but not give it much credit as a mmo.Textures and animations really help to set a gameoff. This is where webzen has the tools of a great engine but have to do the work themselves in desigining textures and ani's.
this engine also uses a ton more realistic physics than anything the asian market is used to seeing. If webzen has any ability whatsoever, players should be moving around and defelcting as they are hit or bounced off objects. It just gives gaming a whole lot more realistic feel and the visual keeps it fun as well.I am sure there will be aimbots ,however the usual grind/farm botting should not be a factor in this game setup.

Hmm.. a FPS Game with the Bandwith Cap of a MMORPG...hopeully it is not as low as Planetside's is/was.
The problem is a FPS Game needs 20-60kbs a Client,Global Operation needed 90-100kbs ....a MMORPG can get by with 5-10kbs...I wonder what will be the cap on Huxley be?
It will depend on the level of detail ,as to how much bandwidth it will need. The new upcoming unrealtournament will have more polygons in just its weapon than any of the previous unreal engine games [whole map].That will be scary however as per usual most games allow to turn down the level of detail. If you saw any of the huxley video or maps they kinda look cheaply done with very low poly counts. It will be good if they do limit the bandwidth as my experience from online FPS's some players can suck the lag right outa you with there T1 connections and fast firing weapons.Anyhow the amount of bandwidth needed for online should be enough to allow the full luxury of the game engine or it makes no sense to use such a good engine.Games will often lower the detail of one aspect to makeup for another wich is dumbing the game down IMO.In thses cases you might as well use an older engine and low res textures/low polys.
No doubt there will be tons of in game players yelling LAAAAAAAG!.A big concern should be where will the servers be located?my past experience has seen korean games open up nationwide but keep all the servers in korea, this is a total slap in the face of north americans and euros that support there games.A ton of bandwidth isn't much use if it's fulla packet loss, even 1% can ruin a game over 10% and its a joke.

More details only means that your CPU/ graphics gard/ harddisk has more work to do.
A bigger concern is the bandwidth requirement due to more players in display range. If Huxley has to transmit data for 120 other players instead of 32 like in "small" shooters, you might need a broadband connection to play. And on the server side it gets expensive, because gigabit lines have their price
This game in no way looks remotely like Planetiside... Did you even watch the video and have you ever played Planetside?
The new BF looks like Planetiside (which is not really a bad thing as far as im concerned).

Hmm... it's look alright, i'm still looking forward to this game. The only concern to me -as has been pointed out- is the connection. In a FPS you need a good connection to be able to get the shots to hit where you aim, else you need to aim elsewhere (normally infront of the target), and if they don't get this right the game won't be very popular at all. Ever played a rogue on WoW? "I'm out of range" "I'm out of range" "I'm out of range" "I'm out of range" - "NO I'M NOT!! I'M STANDING RIGHT FUCKING NEXT TO HIM!!!!!".
I'm sure they've thought about this though... at least i hope they have.

A) Not every zone will be expansive. (Most of it IS urban combat.)
They will be using native-designed server technologies. They also have studios in the US. Don't worry about speed.
C) If you don't have a fast enough connection, you shouldn't be bitching anyway. Commit suicide or go enjoy Runescape.
Looks like a cheap version of Unreal to me.
Very unimpressed.
I hope the game has a lot more to offer than this sort of boring PvP.
