How bad is the buffbotting?

dandy230dandy230 Member UncommonPosts: 116
Been playing a few days now on the classic server. I somehow thought that buffbotting was somehow limited there, compared to normal servers. Then I happened to run into someone who asked me to level his buffbot for his lazy ass. So that made me think, how limited is it really? I'd want to play the game, since I like it, but I really don't want to be forced to make two accounts and swindle my way in RvR? Are people really that much against making an effort?

I haven't played on the non-classic servers yet but I suspect the problem is significant there hence the reasons they added two buff restrictions on the classics:

    • Must be in same group
    • Must be within range

On Gareth, I've only seen a few two-boxers running around, with the buffbot in tow. They are good for PvE XP'ing but, I imagine, vulnerable in NF RvR. A 8-man group played by 8 players would probably steamroll the same size group that includes bots in tow.

I have heard on some non-classic servers the RvR buffbots just stay in the same zone somewhere, like in a well-defended keep, and outside the group (so as to not take up a slot) so the group(s) they support get the best of both worlds: extra buffs and more free slots. If you ever see characters of classes with good buffs standing motionless for hours next to realm guards inside a keep it is possible they are buffbots.

This is the primary reason I play on a classic server. Imo, using buffbots in PvE is ok but using buffbots in RvR is cheating.

I guess I can live with that. Thanks.

How is using a buffbot in RvR on Classics cheating?  People do it all the time.
