Things I DONT like about WoW.
I hate that the end game is just a few dungeons and PVP. EQ2 had such better endgame for awhile. Took 3 months just to get one prismatic weapon.
I hate there is no housing. I love housing and wish they would put in instanced rooms for collection and display. Add two new professions lumbering and woodworking. Then add new quests and different types of furniture like Elven, Goth, Steamtech, etc.
The linear classes bug the hell out of me. I loved SWG's old skill system. I need more diversity then just a few skill points.
Only three pets for a hunter? Come on. I would love to see a fourth slot so I can collect all the scarred/battle damaged mobs.
No necros either? Sheesh. Necros are one of the backbones of fantasy. Treat em like a cross between a hunter and a warlock. Find a corpse and you can raise it to be your "pet"
The player models are way to few. You cant really express yourself. SWG and CoX spoiled me on that.
Giving quests out at way to low a level for people to do them. I got a quest that was yellow to me and said my level but I had to travel to the badlands where everything (And I mean EVERYTHING) was "??" to me. I then had to football the delivery to the quest NPC. Run towards quest NPC, die, run to corpse, run to quest NPC a little further then rez. Rinse and repeat.
All the instanced dungeons are group only unless everything is grey to you. Add a few (I said few not alot) that are solo or duo would be awesome.
This is just a few of my peeves about WoW. Sound like a fanboi to you? Your probably going to ask why I play it then right? Simple. Because the thing freaking works. I dont have to get out a can of Raid everytime I log into WoW. Unlike other games that have been out 4 years and still have major bugs from Beta Phase 1.
All I know is that the game is FANTASTIC for everyone till it hits 60. The moment you hit 60 tho... It is like a slap to any casual looking for something.. ANYTHING to do post 60. The game becomes an EQ clone from that point on.
At level 60 the content runs dry for casuals in a HUGE way. One could fish or grind out to max their various professions but all seriousness once done what then? Casuals just want something to do end game that is repeatable challenging and fun. PvP could have been that but was ruined by giving PvErs who don't even deserve to have the best PvP gear... the best PvP gear. =P
I got SIMPLE solutions that would fix this major problem.
1. Make all PvE drops none usable in pvp settings.
2. Make a generic Warcraft gear set for each class (armor weapons and shields if applicable) with slots for pvp ONLy that can ONLY be equip while near a bank. (as you can remove and put it on while the bank window is opened.) The gear should be designed off the basic units found in the RTS version of the game if at all possible.
3. Make battlegrounds ONLY place PvE geared people can battle with their gear (I mean if they want to grind go for it guys) and the ranking system is same but instead of gear drops they contest for materials to forge their own enchanted jewls to put into their generic slotted PvP armor which makes them not only better than the standard uniforms handed out (the gems has various special effects ) But has stats to give an edge (but not a huge one ) over the copitition earned through PvP combat.
4. there is a base jewl plans to make jewls +2 to a stat (compared to the +5 from the PvErs efforts) for casuals earned from reg landscapes such as the future capture the flag and holding down territories for long period of time in the plaguelands.
To me this would pretty much end all the problems as the only real problem end game is gear. Gear to have fun in and compete in. Wasn't for pvp no one would legitimatly care.
And i still played the game... I think it is the pleasure before getting to 60.. Only difference is I am justified in my hate because of what SOE did. WoW haters have literally ZERO concept of this as Blizzard hasnt even come close to doing anything like SOE.

Now I can say I wont go back even for the expansion.
However this game has done a great service for MMO's it has proved that a HUGE market exists and the innovation people are seeking is on the way. Look at some of the games in development, it will only continue to get better and better from here on out as companys will devote more money and time into these projects.
WoW pulled alot of people into it that would never have gave an MMO a chance. What game have you ever played let anyone even non gamers jump in and have at it? None.... and ive played alot of them, most have some pretty steep learning curve, confusing areas and little ingame instruction. Wow solved alot of those problems if not all of them...to well. I really think people just kinda expected something better at "end-game" since they got something far better all the way to 60.

It would be much more simple if you would actually get your facts right, Dami. there is no asian MMORPG with more subscribers then WoW. you are mixing up Accounts created with subscribers. I went to china back in january. I went to an internet cafe to send a couple of emails torelatives. there are certainly a lot of mmorpg players there. games like westward journey online are fully free to play,except for the internet & computer use ofcourse but you have to pay extra for games like Lineage 2 and WoW. learn the diffrence between subscriber and account created.. not to mention I never said most numbers = best game. I said 6.5 million subscribers prove its a good game, what really proves that WoW is currently the best MMORPG out there are the tons of good reviews and the amount of awards,

Dami, you really don't have to continue to prove your obvious low understanding of marketing. first of all, please don't forget to mention that 5 million people can't be wrong argument is backed up by the highest reviews and the most awards. 2nd, a foodbranch market is completely diffrent then the games market. the reason why Mcdonalds sells so well is because it actually makes pretty good food for a fast food restaurant. Mcdonalds is everywhere, Is WoW everywhere? yes, but not anymore then other MMO's. another reason are children. Would a child between 4~12 year old be more happy with a great meal, full of things that took hours and hours to make, finished with a nice glass of wine, or would he or she be more happy with some french fries, a hamburger and a coke? Things I DONT like about WoW.
I hate that the end game is just a few dungeons and PVP. EQ2 had such better endgame for awhile. Took 3 months just to get one prismatic weapon.
I hate there is no housing. I love housing and wish they would put in instanced rooms for collection and display. Add two new professions lumbering and woodworking. Then add new quests and different types of furniture like Elven, Goth, Steamtech, etc.
The linear classes bug the hell out of me. I loved SWG's old skill system. I need more diversity then just a few skill points.
Only three pets for a hunter? Come on. I would love to see a fourth slot so I can collect all the scarred/battle damaged mobs.
No necros either? Sheesh. Necros are one of the backbones of fantasy. Treat em like a cross between a hunter and a warlock. Find a corpse and you can raise it to be your "pet"
The player models are way to few. You cant really express yourself. SWG and CoX spoiled me on that.
Giving quests out at way to low a level for people to do them. I got a quest that was yellow to me and said my level but I had to travel to the badlands where everything (And I mean EVERYTHING) was "??" to me. I then had to football the delivery to the quest NPC. Run towards quest NPC, die, run to corpse, run to quest NPC a little further then rez. Rinse and repeat.
All the instanced dungeons are group only unless everything is grey to you. Add a few (I said few not alot) that are solo or duo would be awesome.
This is just a few of my peeves about WoW. Sound like a fanboi to you? Your probably going to ask why I play it then right? Simple. Because the thing freaking works. I dont have to get out a can of Raid everytime I log into WoW. Unlike other games that have been out 4 years and still have major bugs from Beta Phase 1.

All I know is that the game is FANTASTIC for everyone till it hits 60. The moment you hit 60 tho... It is like a slap to any casual looking for something.. ANYTHING to do post 60. The game becomes an EQ clone from that point on.
At level 60 the content runs dry for casuals in a HUGE way. One could fish or grind out to max their various professions but all seriousness once done what then? Casuals just want something to do end game that is repeatable challenging and fun. PvP could have been that but was ruined by giving PvErs who don't even deserve to have the best PvP gear... the best PvP gear. =P
I got SIMPLE solutions that would fix this major problem.
1. Make all PvE drops none usable in pvp settings.
2. Make a generic Warcraft gear set for each class (armor weapons and shields if applicable) with slots for pvp ONLy that can ONLY be equip while near a bank. (as you can remove and put it on while the bank window is opened.) The gear should be designed off the basic units found in the RTS version of the game if at all possible.
3. Make battlegrounds ONLY place PvE geared people can battle with their gear (I mean if they want to grind go for it guys) and the ranking system is same but instead of gear drops they contest for materials to forge their own enchanted jewls to put into their generic slotted PvP armor which makes them not only better than the standard uniforms handed out (the gems has various special effects ) But has stats to give an edge (but not a huge one ) over the copitition earned through PvP combat.
4. there is a base jewl plans to make jewls +2 to a stat (compared to the +5 from the PvErs efforts) for casuals earned from reg landscapes such as the future capture the flag and holding down territories for long period of time in the plaguelands.
To me this would pretty much end all the problems as the only real problem end game is gear. Gear to have fun in and compete in. Wasn't for pvp no one would legitimatly care.

Ive played and quit wow.
I bashed it here and there.
Now I can say I wont go back even for the expansion.
However this game has done a great service for MMO's it has proved that a HUGE market exists and the innovation people are seeking is on the way. Look at some of the games in development, it will only continue to get better and better from here on out as companys will devote more money and time into these projects.
WoW pulled alot of people into it that would never have gave an MMO a chance. What game have you ever played let anyone even non gamers jump in and have at it? None.... and ive played alot of them, most have some pretty steep learning curve, confusing areas and little ingame instruction. Wow solved alot of those problems if not all of them...to well. I really think people just kinda expected something better at "end-game" since they got something far better all the way to 60.

besides, if you look at the topic title, it says "Why wow is a good game". s/he basicly countered his arguement by saying WoW is a good game because 5 million people can't be wrong. the topic is NOT: "post what you like about WoW". besides, 5 million people says a lot more then one person saying what he or she likes about the game. if I say:"WoW fails at this point, fails at that point, blabla" does that make WoW a bad game? no, because its only the words of one person.

It would be much more simple if you would actually get your facts right, Dami. there is no asian MMORPG with more subscribers then WoW. you are mixing up Accounts created with subscribers. I went to china back in january. I went to an internet cafe to send a couple of emails torelatives. there are certainly a lot of mmorpg players there. games like westward journey online are fully free to play,except for the internet & computer use ofcourse but you have to pay extra for games like Lineage 2 and WoW. learn the diffrence between subscriber and account created.. not to mention I never said most numbers = best game. I said 6.5 million subscribers prove its a good game, what really proves that WoW is currently the best MMORPG out there are the tons of good reviews and the amount of awards,

Dami, you really don't have to continue to prove your obvious low understanding of marketing. first of all, please don't forget to mention that 5 million people can't be wrong argument is backed up by the highest reviews and the most awards. 2nd, a foodbranch market is completely diffrent then the games market. the reason why Mcdonalds sells so well is because it actually makes pretty good food for a fast food restaurant. Mcdonalds is everywhere, Is WoW everywhere? yes, but not anymore then other MMO's.
another reason are children. Would a child between 4~12 year old be more happy with a great meal, full of things that took hours and hours to make, finished with a nice glass of wine, or would he or she be more happy with some french fries, a hamburger and a coke? I'm sure you can come up with the answer to that yourself, Dami. does that also count for MMO's & Wow? No.
