I don't understand what everyone's obsession with money is. Go to school, go to college, go get a job, retire, die. its a never ending cycle. Everyone tries to do it, everyone wants to do it, to get rich, to be able to afford fancy cars, big houses, crystal chandeleirs, rolex watches, all the things that they don't need at all. Is it really that satisfying when you're 85 and lying on your death bed with pockets full of cash? Do you think " wow i really acheived something. Wow i thought of a way to buy and sell different currencies to get rich?" I think it would be more satisfying while you're laying on your death bed thinking about how you traveled the world with nothing but the clothes you have on your back, or to think about how your music has changed someones life, or how you made an enormous discovery of how to make a water powered car. I think its much more worth it in life to do something that makes a difference rather than sit in a cubicle punching numbers all day.

When you lie in your death bed at 85, in your big four poster deathbed, in your mansion surrounded by your family you can look around you and see what you have achieved. Each status symbol an accomplishment, a medal of honor for a life of productivity.
When you look into the eyes of your children, you will find some comfort in that even after your death you will be able to provide them with some further protection.
That your legacy has surpassed death in some small way. That your genes will survive and prosper.
In an emergency, your rolex and car can be sold for food, or your son can wear that watch to remember you better by.
You can't take it with you, but you can leave it behind.
I have come to really like my job and I take great pride in knowing stuff I helped build will be standing for decades or more and getting paid is just a bonus but I strongly hope the monetary system is oneday replaced The current technology to produce energy and food isnt at the level to make money obsolete, when we can produce energy and food for next to no cost or labour then money is ony a tool for control by the rich. I also assume that these technologies are already being held back by certain entities to give them more time to figure out how to maintain control even with current world cirsis solved.
People would look forward to going to do what they love to do if givign the chance regardless of pay as long as they are taken care of and by taken care of I mean provided with stuff governments are suposed to do. It sounds a little far fetched but in 20-50 years robots and mechines are going to take over so much work that humans will be left to think and invent alot more and people will not be needed to sweep streets, serve food, build basic structures, mining and lots of hazardous jobs will be no longer givin to people. In this era I forsee possible working to live will be a thing of the past and motivation to progress as a species will be the greatest incentive to achieve.

Often I take "free time" instead of "more money", if given the choice.

want your game back?
Believe it or not, but people generally spend more than 70% of what they earn. Why the obsession with money? Because it's the medium of exchange: The more you have, the more you can improve the quality of your life and those that you care about. Most people do not have a good quality of life, which is why you have people killing each other over a nice pair of shoes in some third world countries.
It also makes sense to save more when you are younger than older for the following reasons: The older you get, the more dependencies on medication you will have; healthcare is so crappy in America, at the moment, that you will have to cover most of the cost on your own. Unless you don't have children, none of it will go to waste: Most people want their progeny to be prosperous and have a quality of life that was >= to their own, so that all of the "excess" that had been earned will still go to use.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
You can't really compare with the past as people are a lot more mobile now and I can talk to someone on the other side of world in seconds. Capitlism is all about money making money, there is nothing evil about that. Greed and selfishness is evil, money isn't. Less money now is also physical money, anyone who has read sci-fi stories from Philip K Dick etc will know the kind of culture I'm referring to. Did you know, every day there is 1 trillion dollars moving around the world purely in electronic form. How many people working get paid by cash now? Only criminals do lol.
Being rich must also bring a ton of responsibility, say you are CEO of a company of 200 people. One day, you think I can't be bothered anymore, got millions in the bank I'm just going to go around the world. Do you shut down your business leaving 200 out of work? 99% of people will spend all of their lifes either making someone else richer or the government, sad but true.
No annoying animated GIF here!
That being said, you really don't need to.. "Just get a job, and start working". Even working can be fun, entertaining. I'm still in my young years, and i've decided to take a breake from my education so i can experience.. Well, work. So far, i've been pleased. Currently i work with mentally and physically disabled people, and every day is different.
Like today, i spent one hour speaking with a 67 year old man. 5 years ago he got cancer. 4 years ago his wife, and his friends, left him - Mainly because, they didn't know what to say. Now he sits at home. He refuses to go in kemo treatement, i quote, "it's waste of resources". But still, he's a man that walks to his grave, with his head high. I have nothing but respect for such a man. And that was the story i heard today, on one of my 4 visits
People want to be "rich" because they want to forget about the burden and stress that money causes in most peoples lives because it is required to live at this point in human history. I totally agree with the fact that jobs can be fun. If I still worked in a gas station a few years from now but I was working on my first demo cd, tour, or whatever, I'd be happy as hell. I do play guitar btw. the job being musician btw too. edit
Now making your own boat to travel the world bringing nothing but the clothes on your back and food you hunted and farmed yourself without modern tools, all in that boat. That's an achievement baby. Good luck.
"Never make one fuc***g dollar, play for a demo tape to be played until it's broken
and it'll be remembered for what it was,,,
