I forgot about the patch and didn't come home till the servers came down. Sadly my skill had finished about 30 minutes before dt so now I'm stuck not gaining any skill .
I set a 19 hour skill at midnight last night thinking that would be long enough Hope they get the servers up within the next 2 hours I don't really want to lose training time

Yep - by the time the server comes up (assuming it does anytime soon) my 20 hour training session will be long over and I would have gone to bed.
Not really a 14 day free trial as this has deprived me of a day. Suppose 13 days is not too bad and pretty much all MMORPG's have some trouble with large patch updates.
Looks like I am going to subscribe regardless.... The community within the game seems more impressive than the game itself although one or two players could do with some personality patching....
I used to visit this site a lot however in recent years it has become the home of negative forum posts, illogical opinions and tantrums so I visit less often.
Played or Beta'd: UO / DAOC / Horizons / EQ2 / DDO / EVE / Archlord / PirateKingsOnline / Tabula Rasa / LOTRO / AOC / Champions / Darkfall / Mortal Online / DCUO / Rift / STO / SWTOR / TSW
Official forums went back down with a return time of 01:00 GMT... (9pm EST) Projected uptime hasn't slid on the client yet either. Looks like they MIGHT have found the problem finally.

"New server build coming up, we're hopefully up by 02:00 GMT."
I'm starting to get worried about my own skill training, and I set a skill with 48 hours left to go on it.
Thank goodness my character is training for Electronics Upgrade V (covert ops, here I come!).
I learned shortly after starting Eve that patch days are those ideal for training really long skills. One thing ppl forget about Eve is that the game teaches you how to set priorities and manage your time as efficiently as possible. I am sure most of you grieve like I do when we lose just a few minutes of training time, hehe. Not many, if any, other MMORPGs can do that!
Hehe no matter how this turns out I come up a winner. I was training a pre-req for my BattleCruiser It was the longest pre-req I had left (19 hours)... Looks like the server is just about back online (well... for now). The only other pre-req that was longer needed this 19 hour one as a pre-req so either way I am good to go.
If I'd trained something else I'd still have to wait 19 hours for this one, a few hours for several others and a day for Spaceship Command IV. So I'm happy.
Unfortunately all I had to train were IV's ... bummer eh? All my others are 2's or 3 going on 4 or already at 5

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
this site usually has all the patches you could ever want for EVE.
However because the end result of this "patch day" could involve more official patches, you won't find the correct version yet

So, another 2 1/2 hours minimum.
Just saw that
that's not good I'm gonna lose an hour of training time IF they manage to get it up in time. I'm not entirely sure they will.

http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp though I doubt patch will be there before servers go up.
And... sure enough... delayed by another hour.
I'm beginning to think they're on a fishing expedition and don't really know what's causing the problem yet.

After having been through many of these now, I always go look for a '5' to train up...just in case.
