please, you need to have patience for EVE, and as i can see, you do not have any. Stop with all the 1337 sp34k n00b, k? Stop using 10034873287 smilieys. dont use caps, and we dont need to GIMME you anything, if you dont have the initiative to try the free trial then you will most likely hate EVE. Now go play WoW.

In my opinion, people that stick with EVE are those who convinced themselves of its merits. EVE won't hold your hand and show you everything about the game or tell you what to do when. Thats left up to you to discover but unless you're willing to look for it and to "entertain yourself", then you won't find much satisfaction in EVE. One piece of advice though, belonging in a good player corporation and doing activities with other players will significantly help you find entertainment and satisfaction in EVE as opposed to going it solo. Its not to say that you can't, but its much better for MOST people to join a good player corp, meet some people, and experience different sides of EVE with friends.

Your best bet is to quickly find a corp with aspirations and goals, whether its making money to conquerable space or both, make sure you don't get stuck mining lesser minerals as someone's mining bitch. Participating in active corps and alliances brings you into the fun territory of politics.

#1-10: People like you are far rarer in EVE online then in other MMOGs.

I'm scared of people like you rating games... let alone playing the ones I am.. I'm not being elitest or nothing.. but Grow the hell up kid... unless your 15 or younger you have no excuse to talk like that... its depressing

The caps are a bit much, but I'll give you ten reasons.

    10. It's a sandbox game
    9. Virtually unlimited ship configurations and roles
    8. Time based skill system vs grind based level system
    7. Every player on a single shard (server cluster)
    6. The Politics (EDIT: and roleplaying, it does exist)
    5. The comraderie of a good corp and/or alliance
    4. You can be effective in a PVP fleet right off the bat
    3. A fleet of newbies in Frigs can wipe out a vet in a Battleship.
    2. 0.0 Space
    1. Firmus Ixion!

My advice, join EVE university right off the bat (after you complete the tutuorial and the missions of yoru tutorial agent).

    Hope you enjoy EVE.

    God Bless

    My ten reasons:
    1. Play the Trial, it's Free
    2. Play the Trial, it's Free
    3. Play the Trial, it's Free
    4. Play the Trial, it's Free
    5. Play the Trial, it's Free
    6. Play the Trial, it's Free
    7. Play the Trial, it's Free
    8. Play the Trial, it's Free
    9. Play the Trial, it's Free
    10. If you like the Trial, keep playing.
And join a good player corp.  EVE-University is one of the better ones for newcomers

And a piece of advice:  Typing in all-caps is considered shouting on the Internet.  I'd recommend reading up on nettiquete before posting again.

Wow, I don't know what you have posted before (Capslock aside), but people do not like you.

    10. It's a big universe
    9. It's a big universe
    8. It's a really big universe
    7. There is a lot of freedom
    6. PVP rules
    5. There's a lot of moody atmosphere in your early months... you get lonlely (which I enjoyed)
    4. It's beautiful
    3. The economy is amazing
    2. You can build a freaking spacestation
    1. There is no replacement for the feeling you get when you pod someone who was trying to kill you

1st thing you should do is join a production based corp in empire... this will give you some time to explore the universe, run mission, and get the hang of basic PvE combat... then after you get your BS trained up... join a 0.0 corp and have some PVP fun.

    5. steep learning curve

    6. lots of reading

    6. open ended game play options

    7. lots of math

    8. YOU TYPED IN TOO MANY CAPS!!1

    9. you cannot grind to lvl 40 or lvl 90 in a weekend

    10. You probally didn't notice this is actually reason number 11

I have no problems with EVE, but why do so many people who play EVE look down on everyone like we aren't worthy of the game.  Treat people with respect and you get respect, talk down to people like we are all children and you will be labeled accordingly.  I actually think EVE has some pretty cool concepts for the right player, open ended, player driven economy, large universe etc...

But, I also see post from people that are EVElitest, you say things like go back to WOW and the post above this one, get over yourselves.  You play a complex game congrats doesn't make you the cream of the MMO crop doesn't give you a license to insult and attack anyone that doesn't praise EVE as the end all be all.

Eve is ok, if it had ground combat and let me actually walk around in the universe it might be the game I'm playing right now.  As it stands, the universe is huge but most areas of space look the same, you are in your ship basically all the time and  to be competitive in PVP its gonna be 8 months or so from what I've come to understand, that's fine for some but in a game where most everywhere seems to be open pvp that seems like alot of time being gank bait.

Props to CCP for making a great game but for me, there is a portion of the community that totally turns me off on the game.  Respect what I play(and by the way I don't play wow, I'm a COH player) and I will give equal respect to you, take the elite attitude and expect to see threads bashing what is EVE partially due to your snobbish attitude.

EVE seems to bring out both the best in people and the worst in people.  What you've seen in this thread is mostly the latter, unfortunately, but don't let that put you off.  There's a lot of fun to be had in the game if you're patient and able to set your own goals.  The game isn't for everyone--it's a niche game designed to appeal to specific interests that not everyone shares--but you lose nothing by trying it out, thanks to the free trial.  :)

BUll-honkey!!  You can be "competetive in 2 frigg'n days in EVE.  Get your but into a frigate.  They are more powerful then you could imagine.

baseless assumptions forced as facts is *not* a way to counter any feelings of being an outcast.

City of X are great games.  Instant action and fun.  They are *NOT* anywhere near the same game play as EVE.  It is the only other MMO I subscribe to.  I like a little diversity in my interactive media intertainment.  ;)

Snobs are relative.  whining that it takes 8 months to be effecitve is a gross mistake which makes "you" look like a "snob".  No offense, not trying to flame.  I'ts a;; relative...

Give me 10 reasons to care what game you play. Just don't play any that I do, and we'll be fine. Somehow it figures that Runescape would actually be good enough in your head to proudly proclaim it in your sig.

Yep, I've been playing for about 10 months. I've been pvping in 0.0 Syndicate "battlegrounds" for 7 of them ;)

I stand corrected on the time needed to be competitive but as you can see from the other poster(outside yourself) and Wrayeth, they don't know how to react in any other way but negative.  I'm not bashing the game, quite the contrary I found the game to be pretty cool though not what I want atm.

People responding play whatever you want just not what I play is what will drive many people away from a game.  People read these forums, they see immature, cynical, and generally rude people shouting to be the loudest and say eh not for me.  Its unfortunate I imagine most EVE players are mature helpful cool people but the loudmouth minority will ruin the game for some.  If you look in my post I put as I understand, the pvp competive comment was what I took from forum post by players when I was looking into playing beyond the trial(never stated it as fact).

Funny I posted a positive post about the game in general and simply stated it wasn't what I wanted atm but the hateful response sort of backs up my argument.  Those that point out you can be competive in a couple days, I consider that constructive critics of a post, those that respond with nonsense and hate simply strengthen my point.
The original poster should have gone about his question in a better way but at the core of his post he was looking for legit info about the game, he wants to join you and many tear him down, sad really.

To Wrayeth thank you for showing that the game has a mature, helpful community, its to bad you'll probably be flamed for calling a spade a spade in regards to the others.  To those that spit hate grow up, don't tear people down because you have issues, like I said give respect and you get it, act like a hateful little child and get treated like one.

    So what?

    A) The game already has more people then it can support

    B) You hear people complain about all the time about immature communities and spastic children (note: children are not based on age) making MMOGs not fun to play. Now youre complaining about how the community isnt welcoming enough of immature, spastic children.

    C) In the end, 2 months from now he'll hate EVE because its not WoW and he was looking for WoW in space. Someone will have shot him and he'll have an anurism and possibly combust.

    D) He is a runescape player who is not ashamed of that fact. Enough said.

Eve holds true to the origional MMo concept, you aren't progressing
towards and end game or locked in a respawning fps style kill the
    blue/red team match.

If your not looking for a place to fuel your imagination and become
someone else realisticly and live in another world with risks you don't
    belong in eve.

You either hate or love eve because you want to be a pod pilot doing
-whatever- in a realistic environment or your out looking for just
another game to occupy your time, in an online setting.
