Character Creation Problem

Is it just me or is there more to the character creation screen that I am not seeing.  I have finally managed to log into Hz and now want to make my first character.  When I go to the character creation screen and click on the create button I get the following message:

'

An error occurred processing your request (Object cannot be cast from DBNull to other types.). Please contact technical support.

 

I followed the tech support forum and it stated that this is occurring because I had selected either a shard that was not online, or I hadn't selected a shard.  I cant seem to find anywhere on the site where you select shards.  Should I see a list of shards in the Character creation screen and if so does anyone know why I don't see them?

select shard screen is teh one right before the one where u go and have the hz patcher come up... im having alot of char creation issues atm tho..im really hating this interface thus far=P

Yeah, the shards weren't appearing at all for me.  I finally got the problem fixed... again it was to do with the dodgy cd key/ Australia issue.  I am now in game and loving it. It does have some bugs still, but the game concepts and possibilities are huge.
