Here we have yet another boring over hyped mmo. I'm in the EOBT and while the graphics were impressive, the rest of the game kinda didn't measure up, The gameplay got old and stale really quickly at least for me (slashing 3-4 times then hitting smash, or throwing a guy only is fun for so long), The lack of music during battle stages felt lazy to me as well.
Graphics 8/10: Really impressive for a pay to win title.
Music 2/10: Music is lacking in most parts of the game so can't really score high here.
Gameplay 3/10: While the game was initially fun. After a few hours it just got dull and repetive, lots of copy paste for environments, and the lack of music in the stages didn't help here either.
This is a early open beta test mini-review, will probally do another one once OBT actually starts and see if anything gets improved, but with these titles, I never expect much. Fanboy's Flame-on because I know your gonna :P
Worst review ever. Did you even reach the level cap?
i hadnt' even herd of this game before all the QQ threads started showing up in these forums.
Same here. Now I have to at least read up on it when I have some free time.
Ken Fisher - Semi retired old fart Network Administrator, now working in Network Security. I don't Forum PVP. If you feel I've attacked you, it was probably by accident. When I don't understand, I ask. Such is not intended as criticism.
Yep, nothing gives a reviewer credibility like calling a game Pay-to-win when the beta's cash shop isn't even open. And if you only gave it a few hours, I think I can spot your main problem.
It's definitely not a real MMO. It's a hack n'slash with a very well-disguised lobby, really. But once you get through the training areas (aka lvls 1-10), the boss fights quickly become the meat and gravy of the game, with the passages and mobs up to them being something of a necessary evil (and the supplier of the occasional crafting ingredient). I'm just a level or two shy of the cap right now, and having lots of fun on the later bosses.
For the time being, the servers still need a little work, although the number of unscheduled (rather badly timed, admittedly) downtimes has been less than the swarms of ranting/screaming babies would have you believe. And since the dungeon/instances are P2P, it helps when the hoster has a stable connection. There are still a few game glitches, but nothing game-breaking, and certainly less than some other OB's I've played through.
I can't say whether I'll be playing this a year from now, but if Nexon doesn't screw the pooch on the shop and provides some interesting future content, I could honestly see myself chipping $5-10 bucks/month for some good fast fun.
A Modest Proposal for MMORPGs: That the means of progression would not be mutually exclusive from the means of enjoyment.

worst argument ever. "Did you even reach the level cap?".
The game may not be as "epic" as many other games, but it's funner. It's an online group based button masher. I'm only surprised it took someone so long to come up with it. How long will the fun last is the question, but so far into the betas of these past few months, it's the most fun I've had.

funner... not a real word.
just thought i would throw this out there, i laughed at it.
Meh, all I see in this thread are more Beta Warriors who will never spend a penny on this or any other game. You try it, you hype it and by the time it goes live you're already on to the next beta like a swarm of locusts. I'll wager not one of you defending this F2P wonder no one's heard of will be playing it a year from now.
Spot on!
And I like your first word in your opinion...meh. And that sums all these "lulz. this game is fails!" topics when a game is in BETA..
This MMO is not for everyone and it is fine for people to love it or hate it. However, the one thing you can';t argue is that this game is it's own bread and there isn't an MMO is the US like it. For me personally we are tied of al the LOTRO, DDO, EQ, and WOW clones this game is a breath of fresh air! Could they screw it up when it released and drasticly change the game from the beta, yes. I am hoping that they will only make the game better. If you love it then play it, if not then don't. I personally don't care of some likes this game, just don't play it end of story!
last week I got my key logged in and was impressed by what I saw at first. but....then I tried to move. I game on a lappy and have become master of the touch pad or so I thought until I tried this game out. maybe if I had a mouse it would be different but right now i can't go anywhere without running into a wall...literally.
I love using my track ball with this game and a keyboard. It is the first MMO or video game peroid where they made the controls tight wiht the feels of a console but yet using a keyboard and mouse.
my only issues are the combat and connection problems. the combat is just to repetetive. don't see any overhyped game though....
About combat. A warrior use what is best for him/her to win, swing and make sure you hit to kill. My god you can even throw bombs, spears, hook chains, barrels, rocks, bricks etc... No target system, free aim, free control, action packed, epic, heart pounding boss fights, crafting, skilling, ranks, achievement etc. So wtf do you people want to play?
Connection problem is due to people that is in the east joining us in the west, hope that get fix on release.
yes...and it still gets boring. you have (lc - left click, rc = right click) lc lc lc lc, rc, lc rc, lc lc rc, lc lc lc rc, lc lc lc lc rc. not much in the way of variety. and the projectiles all work the same. i would like to see more combos. but it is still fun in short play sessions.
You acquire more combos the more you progress, judging the game based off 10% of the actual content is pretty weak.
Personally I love the fitting hit boxes, and counter attacking as Fiona. For the longest time I thought I was jaded by WoW, but now this game... really I can't even think of any words. The amount of clutch, and intensity.
I enjoy the way that your skills upgrade from Spike rose to (Joy)(Happy)(????)(Isuckatkorean) Blossom and the way Ivy sweep turns into Ivy sweeper. Hopefully they'll add more timing based skills like Gliding fury and Counter attack.
As of now, Played the hell out of the game, hit 26 on the 4th day. Still playing the hell out of the game
Downside is the Nexon community, like a cancerous cesspool of ignoarnce. One person says one thing, everyone believes him, they all start yelling it.
It's a fun game. Sure it may not be in depth as MMORPGs, but in the end it isn't one. I like to think of this game as the offspring of Ninety-Nine Nights and Diablo 2. It's simple mindless fun that's just very easy to get into. I miss the old farming for loot and just killing shit to kill it styled games.
From the videos and information I've seen on the game it looks like it will be pretty fun. The no visible NPC in the world thing kind of bothers me a bit but I can get over that. It seems like this game will be a good one to spend a few hours on but not your whole life on.
I have failed to be a die hard fanboy to any mmo lately, even though I played entropia universe for 7 years. I have beta tested everything from EQ to now Vindictus.
I believe several things should be considered before making any decisions on the title which is not actually even in true open beta at this time.
- Stability, other than network issues, which means a down mail box and sometimes goofed login, it is runs impressively well on systems without requiring a high end computer. There are other titles however which have reached final, or started sales that didn't function nearly as smoothly such as... Mortal Online ( total heap of junk! )
- Features, what do you expect for a pre Open Beta game? Have you ever alpha tested before? Yes there are many things you won't find in vindictus currently, however they are coming, and let me stress it is still not "Open Beta". While NDA prohibits me to give away to many details about Arrevan, I will say atleast vindictus allowed me to login my first week of play with a beta key.
Where is with Arrevan, I couldn't login for several days due to issues out of their control, however timing of their key release was poorly thought out. When I could finally login, there was no way to get a weapon, npc's didn't work, you crashed when attempting to cross server lines, and this game is in open beta, and has far less function, and don't get me started on the poor graphical appeal.
Overhyped - Honestly with dye features, which will allow you to colour armour +1, good skill AP system, and coming character customization options I am really looking forward to the final product of this game, even hell the actual "Open Beta".
The only thing which really rubs me wrong is how certain classes are gender based, and I hope they choose to alter this sometime later as I would like to use a sword and shield without growing breasts.
Also a desperate need for p2p trade, even with their current parcel based cod payment, item sends.
Wow that combat videos on youtube were awesome. Those were really fun encounters. The game looks great exciting combat. I liked it for a free game it is very good.
well.... Not much I can say about this game. I played it. The beginning was fun and exciting. Than i got into the actual game and it was a co-op MMO -_-
Best parts of it were the graphics, and the environment mechanics. Combat was ok too.
I would be playing it right now if it was not a co-op, tbh... but I agree with your 4/10 rating.
Honestly when a game is in early acces beta, not even full open beta, and you are bored cause you played 16 hours for 4 days before the developers had a chance to release the full range of content, it truly shows your mental age.
1. It isn't even open beta! its not open beta... and it is far from final! far far far from final! It has allowed early access since the 15th of this month. So roughly 12 or 13 days... come on guys this isn't kids camp!
2. Give the game time to develop to full potential, maybe revisit later in open beta or closer to finish before you tear it apart.
3. I have put in roughly 80 hours into the game, and still going at it, for a free to play it is the nicest I have seen yet.
4. It is f2p, free!.. who bitches about free? Don't knock the gift horse in the mouth kids.
5. It isn't perfect, but once again compared to many mmo's even in final or open beta, this runs much much smoother, unless mailbox messes up that day or your party host is on other side of the world - but that is easy to solve host the party yourself.
Its a dungeon runner game with awesome graphics and really fun and different gameplay mechanics. Whats not to like if anything its a few hours of entertainment that will cost you nothing.

As long as the price isnt too rediculous, I plan to play it when it comes out as an Evy.
I love magic classes, and seeing what they do in the game is quite amazing.

Double downside, NEXON.

I guess the same goes for any F2P game. Its like the saying, "If you build it, they will come."

I have no problem with the combat itself. My problems are:
1. The hub town is super small and there is really not much to do there.
2. The gear variety is pathetic. Everyone runs around looking the same.
3. You have to farm the same quests over and over and over just to get certain drops for crafting and quests. This gets old pretty quickly.
4. The quest areas are all very small, closed in, linear, and look the same
I loved the game the first few days, but got burnt out on it really fast.
Wow that combat videos on youtube were awesome. Those were really fun encounters. The game looks great exciting combat. I liked it for a free game it is very good.
This MMO was no way over hyped. It had a very decent hype and thats it.

I love this game. It's just a no down time, pure fun game experience. My friends and I have so much fun playing this game.
Honestly, don't pay attention to the doom and gloomers. This game is tons of fun. And best part, its free!
Open beta is the 13th.. introducing a lot more new content, and dye systemfor colouring items and armour weee!
