Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

These people are as bad as Everquest players just not as many.

Anytime a new player asks a question; some snotty elitist comes up with "go to the DDO website n00b". Reminds me of EQ1 where the elitist ruined the game. If you don't have this or that build you are gimp is another one. Like the in fighting in EQ1 where the tank classes, especially the sissy paladins called for (and got) warrior nerfs.

If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)

Well the first thing i do before trying an MMO is reading the forums for tips and builds to avoid being a noob.

Are you sure you're not talking about WoW? I never experienced builds in EQ. If you were a caster, you had 8 spell slots and had to decide which spells to put there, but there are not skill trees unless maybe you are talking about alternate advancement. There weren't even hardly any interntet guides when I played EQ, so it was kind of expected that players were noobs. Also, there wasn't really such a thing as a poor build as players knew how to play their classes better, in general. As long as you knew when to assist the tank and had a few useful spells memorized, there usually wasn't a problem.

Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.

Yeah it is a bit annoying when people keep yelling "How do I check the quest log" and "what button is autoattack".  I don't play DDO but I think in general people should at least get an initial grasp of their game ie. read the forums before asking questions as those type questions are usually done to death.

This post is to counter the stupidity of the continual WoW bashing here.  Here is an ACTUAL post by an Everquest player...

    That was my favorite pastime.

Is the Oasis of Marr, you had a lake in the middle. In the middle of the lake was a tower with 8 spectres  in it, all of them around lvl 40 or so. Now, this was an lvl 20 ish zone, so they would mean instant death for pretty much everyone.

Agro in EQ is slightly different, in so much that if a mob it chasing someone and goes past you, you will also end up on the agro list.

As soon as I hit 50 I started causing as much grief as possible.

I was a wood elf ranger, I would cast Levitate (so I could run across the water) and Wolf form (50% speed increase) meaning the mobs couldn’t catch me.

I would run over to the mobs, agro them all and head to the land. As soon as I got far enough from them I would cast Invisibility (the mobs could still see me but players couldn’t) and pull them through every single group of players I could find.

I think my best total was about 60 deaths.

    Great fun!

Nope, never met anyone like that in EQ1, never even saw it in channels, not that I can remember. Now WoW public channels are CHOKED with those type of people, hence the primary reason I don;t play WoW, the terrible community. I found some good people but they are far outweighed by jerks.

I have seen the rare occasion where someone will ask a geuinely good question and catch crap, but they usually also get help and only one person is doing the crap throwing. It is frustrating when people ask the most basic questions in public channels that can EASILY be found by ANY searching. More of a hate for people that refuse to do their own research or figure things out on their own.

Also level 50? Way to post something from about 10 years ago. As if one person posting their trolling in a game counter acts the sheer volume of BS the WoW community puts out.

So, let me get this straight: Any game which has griefers is a community full of elitists?

I played EQ1 and WoW; I met far more jerks in EQ than I ever did in WoW. I believe fully in instancing, I don't want anyone not in my group/guild in the zone with me after EQ1.

I can post play time requirements for guilds in WoW and EQ1 and anyone can look them up, far more elitist jerks in EQ1 that require stupid amounts of playtime for a boring old game.

If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)

Unless you are here bashing WoW, then you belong to the "cool" group.

I stand by the statement I met more jerks in EQ1 than any other game, instancing makes DDO fun by allowing me to not be forced to be in a zone with griefers.

As much as I respect your personal experiences with the games you mention, you seem to be all too keen on labelling the WoW community as the worst.

Which in my own experiences is a flatout lie.

Haven't played lately (got bored) but I never had much issue with community on DDO.  Some of the groups weren't so hot, but that was mostly zerg speed runs.

It's funny at times to listen to the PnP DM's squabling about rules, but they weren't noob hostile.

Yeh...but this was the day he quit EQ and went to that new game WoW.

The best part about WoW is that it took away many of the asshats in other games.

As a vet of Everquest for 5 years and a vet of EQ 2 for 2 years, I can honestly say your wrong.. I played a Druid in EQ 1.. Whenever ANYONE asked me any questions regarding the class, quests, directions, I'd always help.. There were times I'd even sit at druid rings for a good half hour helping new people.. The only time I didn't take time to help answer questions was when my guild was raiding,, and even then I'd get back to the people and tell them sorry I can't talk right now, raiding Tormax, Trakanon, Vox, Naggy, etc...

Most EQ vets were perhaps the nicest and helpful people in any MMORPG i've ever played..

Thats exactly what it is...a reply to another OP bashing WoW, lots and lots of people hated EQ. There are websites dedicated to hating EQ, it is "cool" to hate on WoW here.

I am breaking the mold, I LOVE to hate on that crappy borefest EQ. Killing the same mob hour after hour while being trained by morons is what EQ was about. Oh, and the guilds crapping on each other over a raid mob that isn't instanced and making it available to one whole guild on the server with the most lifeless dweeb members is EQ1 at its heart.

I don't play WoW, I play DDO. It is instanced and fun and nothing like EQ, more like WoW, with instancing keeping me from having to be in a zone or raid area with morons.

EQ was exposed for the crappy game it is, WoW released and EQ had to combine servers. We all played because everythin else sucked; there was no other reason.

If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)

Pallys did not get warriors nerfed a rogue did.  Get your facts straight.

Raid mobs in EQ have been mostly instanced since GOD even in POP time was 100% instanced.  Basically you're describing an EQ game 8 years ago.   Last I checked every EQ server has a healthy population the game you play now had to go f2p to get more players cant get much worse than that.  You wanna talk bore fest talk about quest driven games where every quest is just ill x loot x return to x to get reward.

And WoW has 30x the population of EQs highest, that makes WoW 30x better by the logic of more players.....EQ1 is still the most boring game ever; kill the same mob the same way while quadding with your dr00d and repeat in the next zone and all they did was change the graphic slightly for that bug, spider, wolf etc.

F2p = DDO>EQ in population...Sony is to dumb to change, and how did your account getting hacked go?!!!
