    It is clear that the game is a going to be successful by the poll results.  To bad, though polished, its the same ole theme park crap that has been dished out for over 5 years. It is not enough to be as smooth as WoW, as polished or more so than WoW, and set in the Star Wars universe for me to part with my hard earned money in this day and age.  Not to mention that the world seemed small and cramped, questing on rails, etc.  Unfortunately, as long as the masses continue to support this type of game, they continue to make them.  And yes, I understand that BioWare needs to make a buck. I wish them luck.

    Playing: Nothing (nothing worth playing)
    Favorite: SWG (pre NGE, CU)
    Played: WoW, Eve, DAoC, Warhamer, AoC, SWG, Earth & Beyond
    Hope: GW2 maybe

    I didn't love it, but I also didn't hate it. And I really did enjoy the characters and dialogue. So I gave it a 7/10 and if I get a chance to pick it up on sale after launch, I'll give it a chance to grow on me. That is, if GW2 or TSW aren't out by then.

    I gave it a 9 only because of lack luster space content and ho hum crafting. But, I am sure Bioware will improve those as time goes by.

    Since we have all learned that socializim ends in bankruptcy Im wondering if your sig is just poking fun at Albert?

    I give it a 8/10 as I had a lot of fun in beta and didnt expect BW to do something truly amazing considering it was there first stab at a mmo. However, they better attack this game with content/updates faster than Rift or I won't be playing as long as I hoped. It has so much potential for awsomeness.

    My opinion? Not a bad game, but Bioware's decision to cut back on some features, such as character creation and race choice, either by design or necessity, keeps this game from being anywhere near an epic experiance, or really even an above average MMO experiance for me. And while the voice acted content is quite a hoot, for me it actually amplifies just how much the rest of the typical MMO features outside of these main story lines, have grown stale to the point of nausea.

    Perhaps you have gotten tired of the type of MMO that SWToR is? That is okay, I find it useful to mix up activities quite a bit. There are always tons of activities to try out.

    But a flagship Bioware title with a 6-year development cycle?

    I gave it a 5 for the same reason. too many "safe" developement decisions.  I'm still gonna play it hough.

    5 here too, way to safe, too much wow in space for my taste. I might pick it up at first expansion to give it another go... as it is right now there's no point.

    I think when the game is released it will be a descent game, and most certainly a lot better then the garbage we have been fed in the last 4 years. I really enjoyed the beta. My only complaint about the game is that the character creation needs more options. It's too simplistic the way it is. And I am hoping that there will be some sort of moderation in the chat channels, because there were some people who were being very racist and disrespectful to one another in the beta test. Those people shouldn't even be able to have the privliage to participate in the game because obviously they are not mature enough to be playing in the first place. I don't need to listen to politcs, racism, and homophobic bigotry in my video games. Take it elsewhere please.

    8/10

    Lack of true space combat, lackluster combat, disappointing graphics, boring race choices and a limited number of mirrored classes keep it from a 9 or 10.  This game has tremendous potential though and should offer the best leveling experience in an MMO.

  • DrakadenDrakaden Member UncommonPosts: 138

    Gave it a 6/10.

    The pros i found about it:

    Cinematics in dialogues and choices rather than boring text boxes with accept or decline, makes interactivity more interesting;

    A setting that isn't set into a medieval fantasy era, those have been over-used;

    An engrossing storyline that keeps interest;

    Companions that aren't players to help with soloing and other tasks;

    The cons that ticked me off:

    A combat formula identical to World of Warcraft, this recipe has been sickly over-used in so many games, it's not even an attractive combat system;

    System still works with numbers and levels rather than having some indepth or a less tacky approach;

    The craft system didn't feel more innovative than the game next door, only difference is the way to do it, which is using your companions.

    My thoughts are that the game is really well polished at the moment appart from the odd graphics errors some people are getting, eg the little "Dead Pixel" in the upper left. and the whole "High or Ultra" graphics settings not really  up to par.

    BUT the game isnt about the graphics, thats just a bonus. I think the best feature of the game is going to be the whole Kotor choice system we all have come to love. Having the option to choose the Light or Dark side on either team is pretty cool, but at the end of the day there is no "Gray" area and you are still with one faction or another.

    They probobly should of created a third faction maybe? Since there is really only 4 classes in the whole game ( Mirror Classes). I know they have done the best a person can do to make them feel differant, but it just doesnt work.

    If you've played one class, the only thing thats going to be differant is the storyline, and in some cases people are just fine with that. so am i to a certain degree but i still think they could of put a little more thought into the class design.

    I'll start at a 5 out of 10.. and break it down as so..

    On the subject of graphics.. some people like em, some people don't. Everyone hated Wows when they first came out .. now its the hot shit on the block. To me the graphics are awesome because they are in line with the KOTOR style, but also remind me of the clone wars animated series which I happen to adore. So graphics win for me. +1 to rating.

    Classes are NOT mirrored (I know, I've played all 8 to at least level 10. 2 over 15, and another 2 over 20). Not... no really... they arn't. People need to stop saying that. Yes, they are similar, yes you will play a BH similar to a RT.. BUT they have different skills that work in different ways. Thier story is dramatically different (which is kinda one of the big draws of the game..) and they get different companions with different abilities as well as different trees to upgrade so they are NOT true mirrior classes. That means theres 8 classes in the game, but wait.. each class has two advanced classes... that means theres actually 16 classes in the game. 2 factions x 4 classes x 2 ACs per = 16. Not 4. That is by the way 5 more then Wow, however its less then the 32 (4 classes x 8 souls per..) in Rift, BUT everyone at cap in Rift tends to draw from a handful of builds to be 'leet' so in fact its about the same (I actually got kicked out of a raid for not being a specific 3 souls .. yeah.. its actually like that..). So class diversity is good. Another +1.

    I freakin love the stories and RP potential of this game. Love them... and will be playing on a RP server. Sooo +1.

    That places me at a 8/10 ... there are other things I like about the game alot, theres a few things that bug me.. can't choose your ship or customize the droid that comes with it... minor pet pieves. The game does feel a bit static in terms of I wish stuff didn't just stand around.. and  I wish the game was twitch based more instead of click and use. But I feel solidly comfortable staying at a solid and you damn well know I pre-ordered.. 8/10.

    8/10

    It's not perfect. No mmo seems to be at launch. Let's hope it can grow to a 9/10 quickly.

    If that's what you've learned, you haven't been paying attention.

    But back on topic, I hope Bioware makes a decent profit on this game if only because I don't want future MMO devs to shy away from putting money into quality features such as voice acting.  On the other hand, I hope all devs end up with the impression that Bioware could have made even more money in the long run with some sandbox features and less on-rails content included.  But who knows, if they do well enough, while at the same time getting pestered enough by their playerbase for some of those features, it might happen.

    Yeah that is exactly it. I said the same thing in another SWTOR thread this past week. I agree I am just totally burnt on themepark games. I do however stand by my idea that SWTOR could have been a better game if they had not decided to cut some of the corners that they did.

    Same here. About a 5.

    The Story and Interactive cutscenes are great, but they other 75% of the game is just the same shallow, linear Themepark we have seen for the last 6 years or so.

    Nothing different enough to make me buy and play it.

But what does 6/10 mean? to me 6/10 could mean something completely differn't that anyone elses 6/10

    Yeah but it's not a preview score you give for other people's consideration with critical thought, it's your personal feeling after the beta and fun factor. People dont have to be objective in these, there could be a person who likes themeparks, the art style, the theme, the story and the details and he can pretty much give it a 10/10. Then there can be someone who hates all that and he will give it a 5 or less.

    I gave it a 8/10 and I think the game for me can possibly climb to 9/10 when I go to the real big worlds, and the score might stay there if Bioware starts pushing out real new content and fluff. Though, if I'm going to write a full review it would propably end up somewhere like 7/10 trying to take into consideration a lot of stuff that I find is perfectly fine but is not perfectly fine to many others (and ofcourse not taking into account personal feelings of the genre ie. themepark vs. sandbox, turn based strategy game still isnt meant to be a real time strategy game, if you dont like it does not mean it's a bad game...) and yes, a score can mean different things for different people. These days the whole spectrum is often from 6 to 10, I viewed this poll as something from 1 to 10...

    9/10 docked 1 point for not having dx11 at launch, dx9 and win xp are dead, stop catering to them and make the losers update.

  • Shadows59Shadows59 Member Posts: 47

    Gave it a 9/10 because no game is perfect and there are a few things that bug me about the game but not enough to stop me from enjoying the story. I tried different classes this last weekend and made it to 20 on one of them but stopped there because I didn't want to ruin the story and I wanted to try out other classes.

    Biggest things that bugged me were the ui and lack of customization. Other than that there seemed to be some lag issues and a few other bugs that they were working on.

    I am hoping that Bioware does some real work on the UI & character creation which are the weakest part of the game. Still, I plan to have a good time playing with some rl friends.

    5/10

    Same boring quests and combat, now with voiceovers.

  • KebeckKebeck Member Posts: 323

    Gave a 9.. Was actually going to give a lower note, but then came to realize that the flaws of the game, in my opinion, are going to get fixed shortly after launch. I believe Bioware are listening to their playerbase and are commited to fix the problems accordingly. So I decided to rate the game based on my experience during the testing weekends, but also on what the game may look like in a short period after launch.

    I agree.

    TOR could have been a much better game, if they did not cut the corners like they did.

    I certainly was not expecting a revolutionary game, but I did expect a game that was more 'current' than TOR has turned out to be.

    STO, with is minature budget and rushed Development, was able to present a more current UI and Character Creator.   If that junk game can do it, what the heck is BW doing????

    Gave a 9/10 as 10 really means flawless in my eyes which no game ever is. I enjoyed last weekends beta so much I felt I had lost something when it ended. It has been the only game in a long time that I have got myself completely immersed in that time flies by so fast without realising.

    Now I am counting down the hours till the servers open up again for this weekends beta :)
