What i'm getting from what I have seen so far is that Everquest Next is going to be ditching a lot of their old loyal fans on this new release in favor of the new crowd. So for the people that played EQ1 and EQ2 that are looking for the next Everquest, they might be in for a surprise when they see that it isn't going to be hardcore like it was in EQ1.
I wonder about the depth of the game and the interface that has yet to be revealed because that is very important! I would love to see the depth of EQ1 in the next game and I have a feeling it isn't going to be. This game is going to be for a console/PC crowd. That is real important to see here, because you know want to grab as much of that market as they can too.
This is all why I am a devoted Paradox Interactive fan! Europe Universalis IV and Rome 2: Total War will do fine for me. You won't see Strategy games go the way of the console (at least the good ones) you know that! I think what we are seeing is a transformation of Games to the Console and it is going to try to take the MMO players with it! This is what is really going on behind all of the sales!

The problem is that the majority of people on this site probably don't know what Metallica's Black Album is hehe.
And I have to agree. So far from what I've seen, it has nothing to do with Everquest. It might have the same names for races and landmarks or something, but it doesn't look to be anything like Everquest.
Edit: Kill 'em All is still and always will be their best album
The Black album ruined American metal for years and pushed progress over to Sweden for a while.
Is Bob Rock involved?

Meh I'd say that's around the era American metal started to improve again:).

LOL
The whole "Sherlock" thing doesn't really work in your statement. Guess your not as intuitive as I thought...... And no, I do't really have more important things to do right now.
EQ was a total kiddie game, only 8 spells at a time, easy mode!
What are you talking about? Sherlock is always on the scene!
I would agree with your allegory if you were judging the black album by it's cover art and 10 seconds of a random song with no other information or credible, informed opinion available about the rest of it.
Also the Black Album was a good album not as good as their previous two albums but it gets underrated because it made Metallica mainstream and bloated their egos. But that just my opinion and not pertinent to the topic hehe.
That is way off! Have you ever even played EQ1?
Xera, you got something in the corner of your mouth there, bro.

Well if you think the Gem slot bar is for kids, that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard! It makes you decide on the right spells based on the situation you are in!
The black album nailed everything (in my opinion)
However EQ next would be like the black Album withouth vocals, they nailed everything except the most important part... They dumbed down combat freedom to a level that its almost non excistance..
but then they might be lucky that its gonna take them a few more years to get to a release date, its never to late to add vocals, is it?

Yep its way off.. because if you were a caster you had around 8 spell slots *gasp* (totally correct) and you leafed through your spellbook to decide which ones you wanted active. Which is oddly very similar to EQN where you will have 8 abilities that you will mix/match out of all the ones you have available...
So I imagine the person you quoted was saying that if EQN is a "kiddie" game due to an 8 button UI then so was EQ1... If you think EQ1 had more than 8 spell slots for most of its lifetime.. then either you never played it or you are thinking of EQ2 instead...
Anyone that played EQ1 back in the day would be very familiar with the limited spell slots and staring at their spellbook for hours while regaining mana.... you know before the whole deal where you eventually didn't have to stare at it while getting mana back.
Of course the last time I really played EQ1 was early 2004.... so I would imagine some things might have changed. Just like how that little 3dfx loadscreen never made it out of EQ1 beta...
I am a master keystroker though!
Is this in game footage from EQN?
Well played.

We might want to request it to the EQN team!
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
+1
On topic: Metallica had already gone from thrash to mall rock with And Justice For All. The Black Album was completely superfluous as far as their downfall was concerned.

The above is my personal opinion. Anyone displaying a view contrary to my opinion is obviously WRONG and should STHU. (neener neener)
