So my question is what are you planning to do to make the survival aspects of the game more engaging, and to take it away from being like everyother survival building games?
And this is just me probably bit will there also be a farming aspect of the game to be able to grow your own crops and produce your own food, to include animal husbandry.
Thanks, looking forward to your response and playing the game!
I think the corruption system is an interesting take on the survival genre. Especially the way that it ties into the sorcery system that is coming later in Early Access. Insanity FTW!
Very much looking forward to the game's release. As for my question:
In this genre of open world survival, it can be hard to balance the needs of people who want something to
keep the game enjoyable and enticing once they've unlocked all they care to unlock, crafted all there is to craft, and built themselves a fortified
stronghold that they can maintain with minimal effort. Can you say anything about your plans for future content, or how you plan on making this game enjoyable for the long term?
So we plan to keep adding new mechanics and so forth throughout Early Access and many of those tie into long term progression. Thrall scheduling, city management etc. The long term is a fuzzy expression that doesn't really define a period of time - the game will be fun for as long as you find it fun. We can only promise to do our best to make it so!
Is there a small feature, tweak, dialogue, item name, etc. most people wouldn't notice, that you think makes the game a better Conan experience.
Absolutely, the game is full of item descriptions that hew to the lore of Conan and I dunno, there are dozens of things. A rope of dead women's hair, for example, or a black bead from a particular type of Zamorian Dancer.
Hey Joe! Just wanted to know if when exploring can you find treasure/secret loot in water sources such as rivers, small lakes, ponds, and water inside cave systems? And hey maybe even in the sand? lol
1. So i wonder if there will be any micro-transactions kind of thing, like maybe "Sprays" but more like Paintings (stone age) or like skins for weapons or anything like that. something similar to what h1z1 have.
2. How is the guild/clan system going to work? Is it high up on the List when it comes to development?
3. Will there be EU, NA, Asian Servers or how is it going to look?
4. How will you guys treat people that use glitches in the game that are not that harmfull and used by majority, and the one that are game breaking making other players gameplay rly bad.
5. And this one leads to how will be the hackers treat? if there will be any hackers. Its something that can destroy games population, just like how it happened with H1Z1:Just Survival.
English is not my native language, so i apologize for hurting your eyes
1. No microtransactions in Conan Exiles. 2. A bit difficult to go into details here. It will be there at EA launch, and can be expanded throughout Early Access 3. We will have servers in most regions. But remember you can have your own. 4. If they are good glitches, we might integrate them. Bad glitches will face the wrath of Crom. 5. We will do our best to keep this under control.
1. What kind of level of optimization can we expect in EA?
2. In the upcoming EA, how much of the game will beavailable?
3. Is this game going to have choices to play SP, will people have a choice to create private co-op instances? or maybe even there own private server? or is this going to be a strictly PvP game?
PS. On a person level I have high hopes for this project as for some of the past games Ive had personal problems with funcom and there customer service. Wiping out multiple lvl 80 characters and not being able to recover them, type of stuff...
Hello, good afternoon. I got a questions I would like to ask, the questions are all on the topic of water.
1.Would you be able to go spear fishing, or fishing in lakes, or rivers that you have planned?
2.Can we build on water?
3.Will the game have boats?
4.Last question are there going to be draw bridges, with the last question in mind can we dig moats around the base, or would you be implementing it in the future?
Thank you for your time, the game looks awesome can't wait to play it. Thank you.
1. We won't have fish at EA launch, but we will add them later. They are almost working, but water pathfinding is a pain!
2. You can build on water if you sink pillars into the bottom of the river/lake/stream.
3. Not for EA launch. Possibly later. The first biome is a desert though.
4. two questions here. No drawbridge currently, can be added if demand is high enough. We cannot technically allow digging in terrain.
Bonjour Joel! I'm a huge fan of The Secret World MMO and I am into it mostly for the story. I know Exiles will be a sandbox survival game but as Funcom is so good with stories, I want to ask how much story will be in Exiles. Will there be a deep storyline (at least for the backworld) or will it be more a "build you own" as you play. Thanks!
It has a story but it is not at all in the same style as TSW. Very different style. I would say it feels more like Dark Souls - a few scattered NPCs and item descriptions and notes to find.
The problem with creating your own server is that people will cheat especially the person hosting said server. Furthermore, the servers will not be up 24/7 and will be at the mercy of the server hoster. I don't believe you can have a progress intensive survival game (quasi-MMO) without the legitimacy brought by "official" servers.
Which brings me to my final question, will ALL the characters ultimately be stored on the official servers and private servers will access/save characters to and from Funcom's official servers? Because if not, I suppose the gameplay is more a 2 or 3 hour "Street fighter" like experience and not the MMO-esque game that a LOT of us are currently thinking it is.
Couple of questions about using Thralls for defense: 1) Are defensive Thralls only Archers? 2) Will defensive Thralls essentially act as stationary turrets or will they pursue invaders? 3) Will there be a limit to the number of Thralls that can be captured?
Couple of questions about dealing with Alpha Tribes: 4) Locking up land around a clan base is fine. Is there anything to prevent Alpha Tribes from locking up resource nodes away from their base? Or worse, locking or blocking player spawn points or dungeons/caves?
And a question about the Xbox One version: 5) Has work started on the Xbox build yet? 6) What framerate and resolution are you targeting?
And a question about building: 7) Will there be a limit to the number of objects that players can use to build and decorate structures within a certain area?
Thanks for being active in the community and doing this for us.
My question is, How are you trying to make the game a fun experience for players of all levels? (Will fresh spawns/lower level characters be able to compete with higher level players or will they just be crushed, and driven for before you?)
Progression in the game is far more tied to what you can make than what you have invested stat points in.
So can a naked noob beat a fully armored enemy? Not likely. But they can run away faster
You guys (Funcom) were mentioned quite a bit in regard to the art direction and look and feel of hyboria used in the most recent Conan Movie. Will this game also be an unofficial/official representation of the hyoborian world, or is this a more in house view of that world?

1. Do certain bodyparts yield more damage, so let's say an unarmoured character were to stand in front of me, if I were to strike its face, would that do more damage than if I were to hit the character in the arms for example?
2. Let's say I were to attack an enemy's base, would I be able to knock their thralls unconcious and drag them over to my base, or is this only the case for thralls in NPC encampments.
3. Since we're nearing Early Access launch and you've probably playtested this game countless of times. What are some of your favourite weapon combinations to fight with.
Thanks once again, and all the best to you and your team in preparation for EA!
1. Not for EA launch but we have hitboxes for different areas and we will set up different damage amounts for that during the EA period. 2. This is also the plan during EA, but I am not 100% sure it will be there for EA launch. 3. They all have different strengths, speeds and advantages. 2-h hammer is fun for knocking people on their asses, but I really like the dagger, javelin combo for fast strikes and throwing a javelin into a fleeing foe's back.
Sorry guys, I need to get back to writing lore (so much lore. My eyes are bleeding from the LORE). Thanks for stopping by and sorry I didn't get to answer everything but Funcom have sent a manager to drag me back to the Wheel of Pain. My kids have got to eat and their gruel supply is getting low.
