When i look out of my window (and it is cloudy here too) i see things that makes me feel wonder and happy at nature.
When i look at those screenshots, it makes me thing of a old and dated graphics engine that would have been good to power mmorpgs in the 90s.
Sorry, you can argue that RV is a great game for gameplay reasons and i will respect that (never played it so can't judge), but if you post me those screenshots and thought to impress me, well you failed.
A realistic graphics is Oblivion or EQ2, not that squallid horrid landscape with cardboard houses and fake legionaries.
Go look Rome series and then come back and see how roman empire people were at the time.
Have a nice day.

So you're basing what's real by what's on a TV series? The guys in the UK are basing it on what they see outside their windows in winter. I've not seen more than 2 episode of the HBO series so I'm not sure if it takes place along Hadrian's wall at any time. Italy and northern britain are a bit different weather wise.
The impending patch has some graphical improvements, and as always, we will continue to improve upon them. You might find RV looking better to you in the future and I hope you do.
Originally posted by grinreaper If it is wrong...then so is every Osprey book, Military art book, and re-enactment group I have ever seen. I am no expert on peroid dyes and colorings, but every seconday source I have seen uses that exact color.
Sadly those are generally inaccurate for colour studies. Here is a list of primary sources which you can seeth progression into what people consider red now days, I encourage you too look them up as they are all excessively famous:
Golden Pslater of St Gall Bayeux Tapastery Hunterian Psalter
Notice these are all the post roman era and are still not bright red (generally considered more orange), but are getting progressively closer. In fact until the Victorran era there are no actual bright red paints. There are some "redder" tones in clothing, but cloth dying is affected by the material almsot as much as the dye.

not "A" tv Series, but "THE" tv series that has been acclaimed as very historical accurate and has used resources and people to do the job right. And beside it, where else would i see actual roman soldiers amd buildings if not visiting ruins?
But well, Kanoth, you surely can't say graphics are a strong point for RV at the moment, now can you?
I concede the point, though. The series is not in N.England but in France and italy... so maybe in N.England there is that sort of environment but still :P
Gameplay is another discussion and i applaud your brave effort in bringing innovation in the mmorpg's market.
I wish you best of luck.
Have a nice day
EDIT: beside... the series should even improve RV chances as people will get interested in Roman history
