I definitely prefer smarter enemies, to an extent. If the A.I. forces you to think and approach each battle with caution (so long as you aren't overleveled/geared to trivialize the encounter), then that's good. But if the A.I. is smart enough to t…
I enjoyed the alt-centric play of CoX. Even if you had done all the content ten times over, there was something always new to try out with an alt that could change the way you played that content. Because of the powersets, two characters of the sa…
I'm reminded of an old woman in Aion who you had to escort to a hot spring. She walked slower than your character's walking speed (and I don't mean running speed) and if you got more than like... 5 or 6 meters away from her, she'd complain you were…
The first two are pretty easy. 1. is 100 and 2. is 75. 3 is tricky. Is tick has a 50% chance of occuring, so each subsequent tick is half as likely to occur as the previous one. So 50% > 25% > 12.5% > 6.25 > 3.125. Luckily, it's eas…
Huh, interesting questions on that test. At a glance, they seem easy. After some thought, they instead appear quite tricky. I get the feeling they more or less hit a middle area of "If you know what you're doing, these aren't too difficult to but…
When I hit the end game, there's usually two things I want to do: try out another character or do something "fun". The former works great when there's lots of ways to build characters and make them play different from each other, as well as availa…
I feel as though if it depends on whether there's an actual story or not. I've played two MMOs to a large extent (and a little of some others, but not enough to say much on them): City of Heroes and Aion. In CoH, I enjoyed reading the missi…
Interesting that you used a City of Heroes screenshot for this article, since they pulled off the "never-ending progression" quite well, just not in the endless scaling method way. Instead of letting a player play the same character forever, entice…
It's very nice to see that you're still around Posi. Even though I didn't really play CoH very much in the past year or so, I miss it enough now that it's gone that I regret that I didn't play more. Wish I was more active in the community too. I …
Let's be honest here, this article is not complaining about free to play. While yes, free to play does have DLC, cash shops, and all that, buy/pay to play also have all that too and can often be just as bad about it. So really, the arguement here …
Originally posted by elrusoloco Am I the only one who found Aion's combat to be unbearably slow? Having to go through the full skill rotation 5 times on every single mob was enough to get me to stop playing around level 22. Or was I doing it wrong…
Nice write-up. Just a minor correction though: the level availability is 46-55 (which is in turn broken down to 46-50 and 51-55), so you don't quite have to be at the level cap to participate.
Originally posted by Nicksiren Actually, I'm going to disagree with the "not bringing anything to the table," as you mentioned. It's an insult to the readers to not even give them enough respect to spell check your own article before publishing it …
Strange, the copy on my desktop doesn't have those errors. I guess something happened between me sending it in and it being posted? Thanks for pointing that out, gotta see now if that can get fixed.
Mantras indeed do have an effect. It's a subtle one and you won't really notice it while solo, but it's there. Mantras are a free (in terms of MP usage) force multiplication skill. They aren't a huge multiplier since the only cost to running a M…
