I love this concept of being able to mess up in character creation. There's more than enough "can't fail" MMO's out there.
Also, with the interwebs today, anyone really scared about screwing up can look up a guide to character creation.
Naxxramas is fun and is worth the purchase. You get some nice cards out of it.
But as far as buying packs, the best way is just to complete your quest every day and then read up on how to do well in the arena. If you can do that, then you'll buil…

This is an internet myth. Teams have deadlines and only so much can be packed into a game for launch. Sure some of the areas were alread…
I happen to like Bungie's business model more than Blizzards for WoW. I could've played WoW for $15 a month for the last year and received almost no new content. Or I could pay $35 for two mini-expansions for Destiny.
Both games require a lot o…

I am in complete agreement with the OP. There have been no MMO's this year that have interested me enough to buy them. I still play FFXIV as I think it is the best on the market right now.
But Destiny is a great combination of Halo and Phantasy…
Others have done it, but let me also try to explain why many MMO gamers see the selling of cosmetic items as P2W:
When I first log into a new MMO, my character is usually wearing "rags" of some kind. Part of the hook of playing is seeing high leve…
This is one of the main reasons that FFXIV is my MMO of choice right now. The combat may not be super exciting, but everything in-game has to be earned with play-time and skill, not with cash shop purchases.
FFXIV has made some good effort to get people back into the world and not just sitting in LFG hubs for instanced content at max level.
Hunts seem to have been added for this reason. Also, one major road for progressing the power of your weapon w…
Great thread! I read the whole thing.
I too am not currently playing any MMO. I quit SWToR about two months ago after playing it since launch. Development has slowed to a crawl.
I may get back into GW2 soon as I hear the Living Story in seaso…
When I unsubscribed to WoW during Cataclysm after living in Azeroth for years, they had the survey which asked why. I said, "Because it doesn't feel like a world anymore, but just a game."
Somewhere in the midst of making the game more accessible …

Agreed.

You have listed a lot of the strengths of FFXIV and I do think it may be the best themepark MMO out there right now. The game is not without its downsides for me (the combat seems slow and the synergy of abilities is uninteresting compared to WoW a…

There has never been a MMO worthy of a score of 9 out of 10, it implies near perfection, and even after many years the best of them are in the 8.x range.
Reviews that are disingenuous…
Originally posted by Sevala I think OP is playing the wrong genre of game. Maybe you should try MOBAs or FPS...or just stick to WOW, i hear they let you instantly max level your character now so you can just click a button once and be done with the …
