So did any one end up geting a beta key for The burning Crusade. I missed out on all the beta keys that were given out last week. If some one got one last week and is now it beta tell us what its like entering the beta for the #1 expansion pack of all the current mmogs to date.
On to the statistic of the poll again. Out of 125 voters 64.8% dont not agree that Warhammer online will ever become as sucessfull as World of Warcraft has. That leaves a remaining 35.2% of the voters which belive that Warhammer online will surpass the sucessfullness that World of Warcraft has achived.
I voted 'no' sadly. Yeah WAR looks great man and I will try it unless they announce something stupid. But really WoW, despire the faults, is really well done and excellently supported. Mythic is no where near as big as Blizzard and I doubt they'll dedicate the manpower to really fight off Blizzard. If they focus as a studio then maybe in time they can get them- put if they act like the avg 3rd party developer out there and act likes hoes as soon as another opportunity arrives and bounce then WoW will stomp them into the ground like all the rest
Originally posted by Aseenus warhammer online doesnt have as big a pre-customer base like warcraft did... so there pretty much gonna have to build there reputation from scratch, but if WAR got this many people allready watching them... yes they will grow very fast, maybe not as fast as wow but still very fast!
An extremist are you?
Not as big pre-customer base as Blizzard granted. From scratch? I think you are confused, WAR has a strong pre-customer fanbase, not as strong as Blizzard, but strong enough. A good product can achieve awesome results, it doesn't need to be outstanding as if they would be from scratch. I still hope it will be outstanding, but it isn't starting from scratch, far from scratch.
Warhammer may have a weaker pre-customers from a COMPUTER gaming point of view and overall, it still has a MUCH stronger fanbase if you talk of non-computers RPG...1 of the strongest.

The more voters that vote for this poll the more accurate of picture it will portray for the release of the second most antisipated mmorg to date which is Warhammer online. I wonder if WoWs expansion pack will put a dent into the release of Warhammer online. I cant wait for some ingame footage showing off some of the Warhammer online's RvR stuff. So keep voteing!
Does any one remeber back when World of Warcraft was still in beta stages befor release. What kinda previews were they giving to the public because Warhammer Online hasnt given anything showing off in-game footage. I wonder what Mythic is holding out for. The release isnt all that far away is it? Most other mmorpg thats worth mentioning being released has ingame footage showing off all kinds of stuff. Vanguard,Gods@heroes,Age of conan,Chronicles of Spellborn,Lord of the rings but none for Warhammer Online. This makes me ponder competiton between Warhammer and Warcraft is farther apart then I had assumed.
Yeah bro I am no big fan of WoW actually but I respect Blizzard and love their work. They will for sure stomp WAR into the ground. Mythic has lost some key employees when they got bought out by EA. Think bout it, no way Mythic can fight off a giant like Blizzard. It's like somebody trying to market a new operating system to compete with Microsoft / Windows.
What makes it worse is that the wAR site seems dead. What scares me to death is that my fav mmo I'm following, Fury, has been dead apparently too. I think all these publishers stop and look at the strangle hold Blizzard has on the MMORPG market so they decide to invest their funds into the BF2142 clones or other types of games that are easier to make.
Btw, really looking at Conan too it looks good
edit- I hope Mythic proves me wrong. I will for sure tryout WAR when it comes out I heard they did good job with DAoC, an MMO I've been meaning to tryout
Another vote count is in order so ill give it. Out of 146 voters 32.8% have come to the conclusion that Warhammer is on its way to outpacing Wow. The Wow supporters came in at 43.2% and the undecided make up a total of 24%. It seems the closer we come to the release of Warhammer Online the more voters are ringing in suporting the notion that its going to be more of a sucess then World of Warcraft.
I think Warhammer will come out strong with a large following but I don't know if it will have any affect on the WoW population. But you never know, this might be the game to shake things up.
No, I don't think it will because WoW has such a huge, dedicated fan base. I'm really looking forward to Warhammer coming out though. Maybe it will prove me wrong.
Everyone wanting to see some ingame footage to compare WarHammer with WoW today is the day your prayers have been ansered. Here is the link, its short but shows the main ingame mechanics of how combat is going to take place that looks so great. http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/media/video/files/WAR-pp_200611_RvR_hi.zip Heres the link in Bloodridden warhammer style.
Similar to WoW more then I would have expected especialy with the fantastic sound's made by the players.
Out of the voters that voted for this poll 44% voted that WoW is to much meat for Warhammer to consume. After the new preview tho that was released showing off some of Warhammers online in game footage this % might start to drop some.
Warhammer will be successful, but as for beating out WoW, we'll have to see. I don't think it can be done right away, but every good thing has to come to an end eventually.
Well games tend to make a loyal core base of players. So there is a good chunk of the WoW playerbase that will probably only leave the day the servers go down. Also, once Mythic sold out to EA they lost some customers as well.
Will be interesting to see how things progess as Warhammer gets closer to completion.
Even if the Warhammer Lore is realy cool i dont realy belive that it become as popular as WoW. Blizzard simply have the better Marketing. And since EA have his hands on it im pretty sure that it will go down like a cake if it dont get the customer that EA likes to have.
I have no doubt at all that Warhammer will be a much better game than WoW, but it will not be as popular. Anyone with half a brain knows WoW is only popular because its a bliz game which has a player base which came from starcraft, warcraft and diablo.
WoW is probably the best game, in the fact that it just combines and makes simpler already existing systems. Hoewver, this isn't exactly what i call fun, it gets really boring really quickly the fedex questing is probably the worst thing ever, and yes i think that any mission where you have to go and kill 20+ things is a fedex quest and whoever made that quest deserves to die.
Games like SWG were fun, in the fact that money actually mattered, because the best weapons were crafted and you would have to BUY the things you wanted. So the fedex stuff wasn't bad cause it paid decently. SWG was also fun cause you could go exploring and grinding and it was fun. THe maps were HUGE and this is whta was fun, there were tons of space to grind for noobs to experts, and the problem with WoW is that you stay in the same area, and the only way to really lvl is to do those stupid fedex quests which don't even give you a decent amount of money, they are only worth it for the xp!!! and grind!!
So in conclusion, i don't think a game like warhammer will make it over WoW just simply because there are more expansive games coming out, such as Gods and Heroes, and most popular Age of Conan e.t.c.
Eshi makes some good points in this last thread. One of my favorite things to do in Star Wars Galaxies was to check out the Bazaars for goods. For those that didnt play Star Wars Galaxies the Bazaar would be similar to the Auction House in World of Warcraft. Id say about 90% of the stuff on the Bazaar was player made witch made the economy strong. Does any one know how the economy is going to work in Warhamer Online?
I picked up a copy of this new mmorpg magazine few days ago called Massive. Theres a article about Warhammer online in it and sence were comparing the two in this poll topic ill post some info. I quote "Building on the amazing legacy of Dark Age of Cameolot, but this time with a solid PvE game built in from the start, Warhammer Online will let you chose sides and go at it, engaging in as much PvP as you want in ways that are truely meaningfull to both the gameworld and you as a player. You'll even be able to hire NPC's to help balance instanced "Battlegroun style" PvP fights. Add characters that change phycialy as they gain power, a steller new graphic engine, pubic quests, and the entire game workshop store of lore, and theres only one word to decribe it: "Wahhh"". There are some facts to apease your apitites for this upcoming brawl that might make the poll easier to vote on.
Dont forget Vanguard eshi. I bumped a preview thread over at the Vanguard general discussion that everyone fan has to check out. Its crazy goodness.
Another poll tali is in order. Since this poll is nearing 200 voters ill lay down some more hard numbers. 32.6% agree that Warhammer online is going to outdo World of Warcraft. 43.3% are sticking with Warcraft as the main atraction still and 24.1% are undecided. These percentages seem to have stayed fairly identicle after the main wave of voters rang in. Im still looking forward to a Warhammer online preview with some comentary showing off some RvR and other things. Untill then I supose these percentages wont shift all to much.
Any one get there pre-order of Vanguard:Saga of Heroes yet?
The new patch came out for Wow just not to long ago World of Warcraft Client Patch "Before the Storm"(12/5/2006) . If you wana check out the details of it you can jump boat over this link http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/. Its supose to be the patch with the most content ever added so take a close look see at what all Blizzard implimented into it.
I don't think WAR will be as successful as WoW simply for one reason. Frankly, WoW was designed to be appealing to the broadest possible audience. It's simplistic nature makes it possible for just about anyone to jump in and be successful. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, I just personally found it not terribly challenging and a bit too simple and shallow for my tastes. I'm not knocking those who enjoy it, more power to them, but I feel in the end that WoW is more or less the MMO for beginners and many first time MMOers will likely use it as a stepping stone on their way to deeper, more satisfying MMO experiences. Of course, for every subscriber WoW loses it probably gains one or two more, so again I say, no, WAR won't be as successful and it is unlikely any other MMO will be anytime soon if at all.
The last poster makes some good analogies comparing both Warhammer online and World of Warcraft. From what iv seen so far with Warhammer, the short preview EA Mythic has given the public, it looks like it will come close to World of Warcrafts simplicity makeing it just as easy for new players to enter this gener of software mmorpgs. Its also more pvp oriented witch will make for more radling fast paced action goodness then World of Warcraft ever delivered.
World of Warcraft has dominated the gaming market industry ever since day 1. From then on, it gets even better. The cartoon like graphics along with high definition spells and extreme spot on damages, it makes the game so much more realistic. Along with 6 playable races with 10 classes to choose from, who could ask for more? Besides, more doesn't mean better, it's the quality you come up with that really matters.
Although World of Warcraft makes much better extreme cinematics than the game itself, it totally is a wonderful game. Warhammer Online has not been released, I myself have not tried it and I'm not sure if it will definitely even reach the stage that WoW has reached, apparently, no game will be able to compete with World of Warcraft, not even Lineage, nor EVE. Not even Guild Wars, yeah. Real-life graphics may seem important to some people, but real-life graphics are usually a much longer load, and also gives the realism aspect, which makes the game boring very quickly.
World of Warcraft emphasizes on questing, raiding, and player killing players. Other games do not have this factor, most games I have compared to, Guild Wars (takes most of game to raiding, player only kills player when they feel like killing one another), and more popular in my country, Runescape, where the game is 3D, but not 3D enough, to me, it's only 2.5D and it's totally not making it's standard, the game is totally up to you, you can choose to be a mighty fat killer, or a wizard with immense power, or you can be an archer, or a miner, it's totally your choice. Now the most lousiest game ever, with totally no direction and has the sense of I-Am-Going-To-Be-So-F***ing-Bored feeling. MapleStory, one of the crappiest game ever made, yet has attracted thousands of players. Why? Basically because some players have the immaturity to think that the game is cute, and apparently, they find it cruel to be killing other people, therefore killing monsters which give you a fixed amount of exp satisfies their desire. I'm not talking about 1 hour, but 4 - 6 hours of sitting on your chair, whacking and whacking and drinking pots and resting and whacking. Personally, the game is a waste of time, and the items that are being sold? Buy at your own risk, because those items are totally nonsense and seriously waste too much money.
RO <-- Another great game, but why does it suck? Well, RO has a gameplay that changes too often, every once in a while, a new version comes out and you have to buy the new disk, very very difficult to handle with, and it's way too easy to level up, I got up to lvl 60 in like 1 week, it's really boring. Although the fun comes when you can PvP that little bit, dying is a real hassle and the walk around is extremely lame.
So basically, what you can have to make a great game: A camera-view angle (which allows the user to switch angles) Not too many races / classes to pick from PvP Raiding Questing (interesting ones, not those like in Maple, so frigging lame) Killing (but not like Maple either) Super uber classy armor designs, but not too classy, and the name has to suit the design, don't make an uber ownage design and call it Lassy Armor or Fixture Lights.
Neon is always the best, try colouring your armor in a bit of neon light, along with some wicked flames brewing from the shoulder pad or top of the helmet. Background? Not too plain, not too messy. Graphics? Extremely sharp! It has to be able to prevent the most toughest of situations such as bugs, broken walls (where you can step on a 90 degree incline) and stupid looking holes. Cartoon-y characters are not a must, as there are games with real-life effects and graphics which actually are quite fun to play, but make me bored all the same.
It has to have an inventory, a character sheet (which can let you add skills and stuff), talents/skills, a page where you can find your super damages that you make on those videos, so cool.

WOW is the best game that ever played and made that what i think and he will stay the best for 1-2 years at less
