As you can see, I didn't quite find what I was looking for, but our beloved Paul Barnett mentioned that camouflage like abilities that makes you harder to see, but never invisible might get in. You have the right to laugh if you want to, but I'm pretty sure there will be stealthy abilities. Even if it don't I can't see that as a problem.image

    "What's a cocksmoker?"

  • *clears throat*

Alright.  Being new to this forum, a little background on myself.

I'm a 26 year old male, and I've been playing computer games since X-Wing was delivered on 6 3.5 floppy disks.  I have played (and still own) the first Warcraft RTS game for PC.  I am a fan of Blizzard (loved Vikings..) and the Warcraft lore in general.  From the lowly beginnings of Warcraft through 2 and its expansions, 3 and its expansion, and Starcraft plus expansion, I have played and enjoyed the games Blizzard has brought to the PC.

At the same time, I have an Empire army for Warhammer Fantasy that a rough estimate of expenditure would place at roughly $600 US.  I also have a Vampire Count Army, a Skaven Army, an Imperial Guard Army (40K), and a Black Templars Army (Also 40K).  I own several novels set in both Warhammer Fantasy and 40,000.  I also own Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Game, old edition and the newer.  I have a mock Iwo-Jima style dioarama of Space Marines raising a flag on the hutch above my computer desk as I type this.

    I've played WoW since release.

I have several level sixties on Windrunner.  I also have characters on Vasj and Dark Iron.

And I anticipate Warhammer with great joy.  If Mythic delivers the game they are promising, and EA doesn't screw it up by putting its hands in the cookie jar, I will probably maintain my WoW account as a simple diversion from time to time.  Warhammer, quite simply, is answering the complaint so many long time fans of WoW have made:  Once you have your epic set, you're done.  There is no joy in PvP when (up until recently) there was no point to it.  With the newest patch they finally added an incentive to participate in the PvP landscape, but again, these rewards are small, and at 60, pointless, as there is infinitely better items to spend your time acquiring.

"But what about Burning Crusade?  More levels, more stuff, more things to do, and FLYING mounts!  How cool is that?"  Pretty cool, except I'm tired of grinding through quests that don't give me any sense of accomplishment, since I can buy better items in the Auction House by the time I'm finished.  And end-raids?  I don't have hours to spend in a raid group; I have a wife and three kids to spend time with as well.  10 more levels to advance?  Cool.  I can get Silencing Shot for my hunter.  That'll piss off the casters...

Mythic's stated intention with RvR (Realm Vs. Realm) is to provide a backdrop for continuous conflict with a point.  The eventual goal of sacking the Capital City of a faction has meaning!  I don't want to simply slaughter guards in Stormwind for bragging rights!  I want to be able to raid the treasury!  Kidnap their king!  Burn down the Cathedral because I despise the God they all seem to worship but NOBODY KNOWS THE NAME!!! (At least, after all this time, I don't recall consciously seeing the god the humans of WoW worship being named)  Please.  Give me a reason to PvP other than a floating title and some second rate equipment and I will.  Warhammer is promising that.  Thus, they have my vote for the time being.  And if they deliver?  They'll get my subscription monies as well.

Thanks for reading this far.  Try not to devalue your replies by relying on insults or chants of WoW is better.  Warhammer has been a viable, long standing game in many incarnations since 1983.  If you count the Space Hulk games board games from before they officially became Games Workshop, they've been around longer.  Blizzard has had the lore of Warcraft since 1992.  As before and with most things, only time can truly answer this question.

Well when taking into notice the success of WoW u have to consider a couple of things:

When WoW came out no other big games were released
now, while in 2007 vanguard, conan and warhammer r some of the big
titles that r going to compete for the
    playerbase.

I think vanguard will get released 1st do it will
take alot of subscribers that dont play any game atm, and since most
people cant even afford paying for 1 mmorpg i dont think alot of the
vanguard players will buy warhammer as well

Blizzard had a very succesfull history in producing
games previous to WoW release whilst warhammer isnt as popular as a game

And last Blizzard ran a huge advertising campaign
releasing newslatters about a new warcraft game even be4 they decided
    it would b multiplayer based

Add to all those that alot of WoW players r new to
mmorgp's and wont leave WoW as easy since they dont realise what a bad
it is (sorry wow fanboyz but no end-game content when u can get lvl 60
in 3 weeks and not 9 months+ like in other games really sucks, unless u
r one of those raiding mazochists ).

p.s. i ll try out vanguard myself and i see myself sticking with it unless its pvp really sucks

And this is somehow different from WoW how?

    erm..wow has stealth(invisible) classes

And so just having stealth makes a game not suck. Wow. You're brilliant.

If you ever played a hunter in PVP you'd know just how little stealth matters to them.

Thanks for all the thread bumps!  Im going to post some more poll stats.  My poll is reaching 250 voters and is time again for another statiatic post.   34.3% have rang in that Warhammers going to outpace Wow.  A overwelming  65.7% have voted that WoW will keep the crown of best mmorpg currently released.  This number has gone back and fourth quite a bit since my first post on this topic.  One of the main reasons for these numbers might be because of the PvE content that WoW has conjured so well that the public consumes like water.  PvP content in Warhammer might not bring the amount of players that WoW ever did because of this I think.  Iv read a few more posts about Warhammer and its release being pushed back later then exspected.  Has the public been able to get into some sorta beta for it yet?

Will WAR match WoW's success in terms of subscription numbers? As a person who is looking forward to the release of WAR, I certainly hope not. Why do I say this?

If you look at the 7,500,000 so called active subscriptions, how many of them are 12 year olds who constantly spam in all chats, ditch groups after the first wipe, swear out players after losing a roll on an item or losing a duel? I'd have to say over a million of them are.
Why would I want a game with so much potential as WAR to be ruined by flocks of preteens... So WAR can pass WoW in numbers? I think not. A community of 500,000 mature players beats a community with over 1 million 12 year olds that constantly ruin the in-game experience any of the week.
Another thing about WoW, after playing for over 1 1/2 years, it's so repetetive you don't even see it. "Nice! If I spend 3.5 hours a day, killing the same elementals in Silithus, and raid AQ20 every time it resets for the next few weeks... I can get a new cloak!" Sadly this was a part of the game, only enjoyed by those who like to sport around cloaks. Plus, the PvP in WoW is pointless except in terms of gaining better armor and weapons. The outcome of battlegrounds in WoW has no effect upon anything outside of it. In WAR, by winning skirmishes (world pvp) and scenarios (instanced pvp), you can ACTUALLY sack an enemies city. If Blizzard ever allowed Stormwind to be captured by the Horde, how many 12 year olds would either: a) spam general chat when people are trying to coordinate defenses or b) moan and whine because they're getting killed?.

I hope WoW keeps every one of its suscribers, and none of them go to WAR. I'd rather see an entirely new community of games come over to WAR.

Can any one belive the amount of trials Warcraft has to be churning out.   Just the other day I was trying to check out Bleeding Hollow the server my level 60 night elf priest is on when this trial add comes up.  So I try to click it off and another one comes up and so on and so on.  It was like one couldnt  get to the main warcraft site without them giving away there game for two weeks.   Finally after countless tries to not go ahead with the trial I used trusty google to forge me a link directly to the forums where I wanted to get to in the first place.  Has any one actualy tried the trial?

As much as World of Warcrafts newly released content BC has been hyped about Im suprized that I havent seen anything in stores about it yet.  No pre releases or nothing. Id figure Blizzard would have card board cut outs, banners, posters etc... fliging swaying from everywall in every store that sells wow products by now with it.   I supose the devolpement team is about on the same track as me when it comes to releasing countless expansions to add to the confusion.

I truly hope that it has all the good aspects, but minus at least some of the bad we all know.

    So here's a big fingers-f'ing-crossed!

Well of course it'll gain and lose players. I play WoW fairly religiously, but I'm always looking for a better MMORG.

So far I haven't found it; not that I've tried them all; just the big name ones. I was really hoping DDO would break me of my WoW habit but WOW what a letdown it was.

If successful, WAR will pull away a large portion of the serious PvPers.  It will take another good PvE game to pull away the PvErs.

WoW's PvP with its limited 4BGs and arena combined with item centric repeated grindfest is its weakest point atm so it's an obvious target for upcoming MMOs.

It will also pull away a large portion of the Oceanic players because of the lack of Oceanic based servers.

Hell yes to that! Nothing is worse than trying to play with a 400-500+ latency constantly. And that is using a 1.5+ MB Cable line. (which is more or less as good as you can get for a halfway decent price here)
