Which game did you play the longest? (New Poll)

Pappy13Pappy13 Member Posts: 2,138

Because isn't that what it's really all about?  We are talking about entertainment here and whichever keeps you entertained the longest is what you want in a game.

Ok, I messed up on the first poll and didn't list all the games I wanted and I couldn't figure out a way to delete that one and start over or to edit the poll, so here is another chance to vote.

I still think you're missing quite a few popular games like AO or Lineage on that list. Maybe start another thread?

For me it was WW2ol, so other prolly, but I won't vote on that incomplete poll.

like i said in the other post, WoW, for 18 months...and i'm looking to beat that record with EQ or UO maybe...considering i didn't do much in WoW (except re-roll chars out of boredom...my highest char lvl was lvl 14)...usually in games, i get bored by lvl 5 (like i said, i re-rolled chars all the time in WoW) but EQ seems to be holding my attention

EDIT: sposocke, there is an "other" option, where i think he wants you to vote other and then specify

Haha you highest character was 14, and you played for 18 months. I am not laughing at the skill, but you should of quit a long time ago if WoW could only hold you attention to 14.

my longest and still runnin is WoW, almost a year

    Ultima Online for ~4 Years.

Let's hope WAR will make me play even longer
  • johnmatthaisjohnmatthais Member CommonPosts: 2,663
well, i played cuz friends played and when a few of em quit, i just re-rolled and tried to have fun again but by that time, even Ironforge and Orgimmar were empty so, i just quit altogether

I've played WOW for over 2 years now, I don't really play WOW much anymore since I've been trying to find something to hold me over till Age of Conan comes out.

Yeah, I said "so prolly (aka probably) other" in regards to the poll, but I still think AO and Lineage were popular enough to warrant them a place on such a list. But I'm just a little bored and messing with the OP. Mind you I didn't check the old thread but if I'm not mistaken that's three pages long, not sure if it's agood idea starting over and incomplete at that. ;)

I realized after I posted that I was also missing Guild Wars, DOH!!  That's probably a bigger oversight, but I'm not starting a new thread.  You'll just have to vote other, sorry :)

Please feel free to post your comments if you select other.

Actually I don't think what he's talking about is all that uncommon.  Many people don't like playing 1 character, they like to try all the different possibliites.  Along with WoW, I've played a bit of CoX, but I never got a character above 14 because I had like 10 different characters that I liked to play.

OMG! Yeah! I didn't even notice that! Mind you if that MMORPGchart.com is correct both Lineage parts had well over 1.5 million players, dunno how many GW reached but that makes Lineage the second most successful game when it comes to subscription fees. Anyway, without any further ado, WW2ol 2+ years, followed by WoW 1yr and I voted.

He played for 18 months, which was a shicker, I mean if it was 2 months or maybe 3 months wouldn't be surpring, but 18 months is

Not saying johnmatthais is such a guy, but wasn't there always a rumour in WoW about ppl never making it past lvl 20 cuz they'd spend all day bitching in the barren's chat?

Yeah, but I don't think Lineage has done that well in the states.  I don't read a lot about it here on these forums and I always get AO and UO confused, so I only got one of them.  What can I say, I'm a newb at polls.  Missing GW was just plain dumb, but in my defense, I did look thru the posts from the other thread and got every game that someone had mentioned and no one had mentioned GW, so I blame them, yeah that's the ticket. Oh and I'd never heard of your WW2OL, so I didn't include it.  Didn't think it would be missed terribly. Sorry.  Is that an MMO?

I think you missed EQ2, which is still a major game.  It is the game that I have most consistently played.  I've played a ton of games, but nothing held my attention like EQ2.

I have kept an Everquest account since Kunark came out, but only because I am a Station Pass member and I sometimes play to join my parents.

  • ImixZinzImixZinz Member CommonPosts: 553
EverQuest, there was nothing else to play! iv probably played it off and on for about 4 years maybe 5 the only competitor was AC for a looong time, so really i had no choice in the matter

    WoW lasted about 1.5 years

    DAOC about 1 year

everything else is measured in months or weeks... sometimes days!

I am pretty sure I played SWG more than WoW, but I really don't remember how long I played either. UO is a close second.

Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.

I groupd EQ1 and EQ2 together and just called it Everquest because even though there are probably enough differences between the games to list them seperate, for the purposes of the poll I didn't want to split them out into their own because that would probably water down the results for each and I figured people who had played 1 for a long time have probably played the other as well.

It's fine, WW2ol definitely belongs amongst 'other', because it never surpassed 10k players or so. It's basically WW2 online (well actually it's just fighting for Belgium over and over, since the devs can't afford to enlarge the map ) but it's definitely fun. One can play various types of infantry, tanks, planes and a few ships. It's mostly team based but one can also go anywhere solo really and ambush enemy units, strafe ground units etc. But to capture an airbase or town defintiely requires team effort. Unlike most MMO it's from a FP perspective. It also has a dynamic campaign similar to that of EVE with a strategic layer and some tech advancement. I mainly quit cuz the devs were nerfing one side for balance reasons and basically messed up the flight model in turn. Still a good game though if one likes strategic/tactical wargames or simulations.

Jumpgate - 6 years and counting.

Then again, I've worked for the same corporation for 23 years, so I guess I'm a bit of an anomaly.

I gave the trial a go, didn't see too much to be honest but it's definitely a great game from what I've heard/read and would probably appeal to more people than EVE if they'd make a sequel.
