Well I'm just glad people are still voting. 2 Days ago, the voting was at 450 votes. Now we are at 510 votes as of 7:15pm PST. Topic is still going strong. But Lineage 2 still has a substantial lead. I still have yet to place my vote... I love monitoring this.
You know what's really weird though. I was just at Best Buy about an hour ago (Los Angeles, on Pico and Sawtelle). They are still selling the Pre-Order Boxes of Gods and Heroes. Amazing.

And when they don't get to the root of the problem, guess how it continues? How do you think these types of threads, and the mindset in gaming with terms like "rapejuice", exist?
They exist because guess who's really missing out of the equation to say, "ah, that doesn't represent women"?
Can't blame Karen Carpenter's death only on some "disease" (totally naive to even approach it like that), nor most models today on psychological issues (yet another subset of sexism, labeling women weaker and psychos), when the disease is societal decay -- stupid women pushing an unreal ideal, to the men who jack off to cardboard pinups as their ideal [then wonder why they're so lonely as no woman is air brushed to remove all the "flaws" TO get it up]).
The point is women aren't meat tags (ever wonder why beauty contests are dying??). They're not graded like beef. They're not T+A, they're not "rapejuice", and they're not whores. That's the point I'm trying to make, because it needs to be said, especially to young 15 year-olds clueless about women -- and I'd hate to see yet another generation of boys locked into a unhealthy mindset that makes them miseable.
If you think women have hangups, you haven't seen anything until you date some 27 year-old who's Neandertal mindset he learned FROM gaming (and worse, has to consult his gaming buds online HOW to date!).

Tv Shows and all that padronized ideas and image only exist becouse of people, yes, lets blame not only the media, but all those girls that stop eating cuz they want to look like a celebrity ( or just look like a friend ), lets blame the stupidy kid that are full of esteroids just to look as a gears of war character... they are guilty, we all are guilty, this only happens becouse of a lot of people want it...
But about fantasy art, well, I dont think it is the same thing, as I said, art always expressed the hero image in a romantic and ecapist way, women in most of games dont even have a so unatural body, it is a erotized one, but men and even creatures are erotized too..
Yes, boys are clueless about women, girls are clueless about men, people are clueless about people to tell the truth, but MMORPGS dont feed this, as I said before, the female avatars are there as heroics and almost godess creatures, if a lot of kids only see them as pin ups, blame the kids, not the fantasy creation of an Aphrodite like character...
We can be always "meat tags or a pin up" sometime, man and woman, it doesnt matter... Im a meat tag sometimes, too, it is fun, belive-me been a piece of meat in a erotic situation doesnt make you ONLY a "meat tag"... and the best thing is all kind of bodies can be a nice "meat ".
Im not sure anymore, what bothers you, the skinny image ( usually not really present in games ) or the erotic image?

And in Fantasy i run around in made up worlds wearing armour that would probably weigh as much as my car killing goblins that look like 6 foot frogs that is fantasy there is a big difference and yes you can have it both ways if you for some god forsaken reason you take this virtual life and merge it with your real life then this is not a gaming issue it is a mental issue and if you can not see that then /shrug what else can i say, people do some crazy stuff in this world it is just how crazy that really matters i am my own self who makes real decisions for myself and blame no 1 else if they are wrong. If you cannot accept that life is a very strange thing that can never be truly understood then so be it this argument can go on for years to come and thus it has already, i guess im just tired of people not taking responsibilty for there own actions.

You can't blame the victim, when it's society itself that is promoting what's unreal and harmful.
To heal the problem, the society that is forcing such unhealthy ideals is what's needed to be healed. That comes from identifying the problems, and working to abolish them.
Rating women in regards of physical appearances is a problem. It brings up the stereotypical view of gaming, and all the ugliness associated with it (and being phased out in RL, as it IS a problem).

Well I disagree with UNATICOII Teala, but I really think you went too far...it sounded a bit personal...
To tell the truth it would be very nice if we could create characters like that in MMOS too...sure with a more "artistic and unreal" armor.
I really think there is place for this kind of "character" in fantasy worlds, as I really think there is a place for women like Lineage2´s Kamael in fantasy...

Edit: Oh, and Jin was suppose to be a shooter ingame (notice the sniper gloves?). Time constraints turned her into a forensic gal, instead.
Put a woman into a firefight, she needs armor and gear that suits the situation.

Nah...I didn't go to far. She wishes to come in here and suddenly push her beliefs and her opinions using RL as an example as to why it is bad...then so can I. I dunno about anyone else, but UNATCOII is the one that is going to far here - into the realm of reality and she is doing her best to derail what was a pretty fun thread. I already met skinny tall girls that are lonely as I already met fat girls that seduced everybody around, we always have a choice, if you decided or just cant resist the society cliche, you are guilty too, not only a victim.
If you belive sexy women = whores, you are making a serious mistake and you are just accepting one more social cliche....
Edit to add about the FEAR character
Most of MMOS have the high fantasy theme, most of ( not all ) high fantasy themes are very erotic, you will notice it not only in women, as I said before, even the creatures express body strength and instinctive erotism...
But if you belive erotism is decadent, well, we really disagree and there is no reason to go on, as I belive one of the reasons Society is decadent is becouse sexuality is denied and sex=forbiden and wrong...

One last thing. If you don't like the way toons are done in an MMORPG...don't play it. It is a choice. I stopped playing EQ2 for that very reason. I couldn't stand the stodgy, nun like robe my sorceress was running around in and to this day I refuse to play EQ2 until they put in some decent clothes and robes for female characters. Beleive it or not.

Actually, people gave up choice the moment they settled down from being hunter/gatherers and built civilizations. For the price, they gave up ultimate choices to live with others in communities.
So in order live in the civilization and it's societies, you have no choice but to live by their standards.
If the standards change, whining about choices and unfairness, wouldn't matter, as societies are the law that governs civilizations.
See, you are whinning about choices claiming people gave up, and at the same time you gave up.
There is the civilization and there is the social illusion, all you have said matches the social illusion ( no place for fat people, sexy women=whore, everyone should look as models, sexy characters in MMOs reflect shallow people) ... civilization goes far beyond all this.

You need to know what concensus means compared to an opinion (let alone history).
The choices you speak are wonderful fantasy, but in reality, you're owned by the company store (and if you ask for your money back, no games for you in the wilderness in Timbuktu!).
What choices we have is what society instills, which is why folks do their best to change them -- especially the smart ones!

No dear, it doesn't work like that. Twiggy was just a celeb in her day, but her appearance has caused an unhealthy body image ideal that has cost plenty a woman's life today.
So, yes, even if it's a game with faddish clothing and unreal proportioned women continue that RL killing legacy, today, as it promotes the same "values" that allow that Twiggy image to survive for 40 years.
Corsets weren't enough to ruin a life of a woman in the 19th century. No they just needed to invent the underwire bra. Worse, breast implants so the underwire can just cut more deeply to pull in that clevage, right?
Fashion can come from anywhere, dear, and when it's PROMOTED as some meat locker ideal, it no longer is "cute" and "harmless" and anything but "a game".
Well im sorry but if people can not determine the Difference between Fantasy and Reality like i said this is the Problem with that said person that is having this difficulty, these "made up Characters" are a very exaggerated fantasy and made more so to look exotic and cool then they are to promote any kind os self esteem kinda building effect if people choose to take these things seriously then this is a choice that said person has made on there own free will and was not forced in any way to be like this. Like i said before it is a state of someones mental stability which determines if that person is in fact capable of making the right decision for themselves. Every 1 is born with a brain and as they grow they learn to make decisions for them selves wether it be wrong or right is up to them to decide. I feel sorry for the people out there that cant live there life for themselves and choose to follow the paths of others but unfortunately it is a part of humanity to want to succeed and outdo others it is in every one's genes to want something better either it be to better your lifestyle or it be to better the person in front of you in form of competition but ultimately it is up to you to decide how you decide to better yourself and no 1 else.
Not to derail this thread farther...but I totally agree with Charlizd and I see no reason Why a pretend game should influence anyone on makeing decisions about reallife..just because the media tries to tell people how to look,Act,....smell..lol,or even live your life, Doesnt mean you have to listen to them and I think any sane person wouldn't.
