I also can't find any mmorpg id like to play, im starting to think I just grew out of it.

Right now I'm trying EVE online but I'm not liking it at the moment, hopefully the PvP part is more fun.

"Are people really happier playing carebear MMORPGs? I hear a resounding 'no'."

Then you are not listening. Sales and subscription numbers of the games you mention all indicate that PVP is a small (albeit vociferous) area of interest for the vast majority of players these days.

And when i read the part in OPs post about "Gone are the days when you......" that really hurted inside. I think i will quit the MMORPGs to. I will wait 2008 out and see if something good is on the horizen.

You should quit. It is obvious that the future belongs to the casuals. I *love* riding the game safely to max level. Once I have done that, I will move on to the next game.

If you do not like that style of MMORPG gaming, you can look hard for a niche game, or you can quit. This seems to be where MMORPG development, at least the AAA ones, is going.

And see.. Now that Blizzard has taken over the direction of "successful" MMO's, we find ourselves getting bored and losing interest... GONE are the days where companies thought they had to actually COMPETE for our money by releasing something frresh and entertaining.. Now all we get is tricked.. A common template with new sights and sounds.. Same ol shit, everytime...

I used to be a die hard pc gamer and mmo's are a very big part of it.. But as you guys are saying, mmo's are just becoming one of those overly screwed peices of template BS.. This is a common problem with gaming as a whole in the consumer world... Everything has to follow some sort of "proven" business model, over and over again reguardless of how old it gets..

I'm tired of WoW and its template.. It's time to push mmo's into the next era or we may have just seen the demise of mmo's..
