Ya protest is a better word.  Anyway World 66 on RS has been in a perpetual protest almost since the update came out, honestly the game is more exciting now than it was with PvP lol.

I havent played for a good year, but it was the only game that really held my attention for longer than a few months.

So many different skills that werent just combat related, i loved it

however, this sounds like it could have killed the game for me, i loved the economy just as it was

but really i have just been waiting for a 3D version

There were riots in WoW servers back in 2005 or 2006 caused by demand of new servers for certain geographical regions of the US. What the instigators of the riot did was ask people to log in to a certain server at a certain time, it flooded the server causing the server to crash repeatedly for a few hours that night. I think Blizzard then instituted a server queue to stop people from login in on fast. Also it is now a suspendable/bannable offense to try to instigate riots on the wow forums.

I've played it since RSC, im guessing since 2000.

Main reason I liked it was staking, and Pk'ing... and occasionaly merchanting.

Now that all three are gone, so is the game.

    R.I.P Runescape.

Jagex dug their own  grave for many players like me, however the carebears seem to be unaffected.

People gathered in every major town denouncing the game and its company and demanding that the updates be romoved.
I thought that this was kinda cool and exciting because it really felt like they were fighting for something, does this or has this ever happened before in another game? I know SWG made a lot of people unhappy but has anyother game actually broke into riots?

LMAO!! Couldnt help but laugh as this reminded me of SWG when the NGE came out.

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

MODS: Why has this thread still not been moved to the runescape forum as the previous thread about the exact same subject was??

    1,000,000 / 3 = 333,333.33~

This is figured because RS only charges 1/3 of what a normal P2P game charges per month.

    $15 / 3 = $5  The cost of 1 month of RS

I'm figuring on paying subs only but as someone else said they do make money from ads in the free version also. It's not nearly as much as a game like WoW or LotRO would make off of those same 1 million subs though. (not saying LotRO has 1M subs just being hypothetical here.) Ok enough with the math lessons.

I can't remember why but I can remember taking part in an in-game protest in Entropia Universe once lol.

  • RekovRekov Member Posts: 38

to answer your question, SWG did break into riots. the anti-CU protests had thousands of people in the major cities protesting the upgrade, and for the NGE we all went to the Ahazi server, created white Wookiee characters, and split into two guild for a lvl 1-3 range guildwar to piss people off.

wow you call that a riot.   what a bunch of bored little kids.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

then how come it's not even competing in the market.

Im not usre acually. It does have alot more subs then most games out there. Look at statistics on alot of websites. Im guessing that the fact its a browser based game most Websites and reveiwers wont give the game a chance and blow it off. As for gamers(like you) They dont give the game a chance do to varius reasons like graphics or the point and click. But really if you gave the game a shot you would see why there are so many subs.Well that is before this patch

    Easy....

    1 Million RS subs = 333,333 regular P2P subs

RS only charges $5 a month for a sub which is 1/3 what a normal P2P game charges. Still 300k+ subs ain't bad but it's certainly not in the running for the most profitable game out there. I used to play RS years ago and liked the game for what it was. It's actually not a bad game.....it's just not in the same league as games such as WoW, EQ2, LotRO or any other current P2P MMO. Judge RS for what it is and not for what it isn't and you'll find that for a Java game it's top notch.

    Bren

wrong because they charge english people twice as much to play. £5. plus they prolly don't bother with exchange rates for other countries. and about half the players are american.

I know this has been posted awhile but this same thing happened in kalonline a long time ago, players wearing assassin mask blocked all the exits to "tempory fort" which made it obviously impossible to walk through the games the only exit was by teleporting. cant remember why it was done but a point was made. now i think its time that the RS players riot for something more meaningful like improved graphics, the ability to set up stalls, music that doesnt sound like ur in pre-school. runescape was the best back in the day and is till like the game style just not the graphics, it was nice to know that players could make money with out selling over priced item mall stuff, u could life out in the wild without having to buy ''meds'' u could hunt, fish etc and life off the land, but i quit runescape a long time ago but have long been lookin for a game where one could make his or her own stuff, and how much money u made depended on how skill full ur char was and the time u was willing to invest in the game not on how much of ur salary u could give to the makes of the game, sad to see suck a good game not developing, runescape is now considered a "chat room", is been called names like sh..tscape, and this shouldnt be when the game offers so much, RIP RuneScape, Return If Possible

I thought as well that rwt didn't effect the game but then I read one of Jagex explanations.

They said that it was making other people in rs who were actually working for their cash feel left out.
Which I thought was a valid reason because players would think they had to pay they way up the ranks.

I personally think that they did ruin the game, but i still play. :)

BTW Housam nice PC system. :)

There have been several Monuments for Runescape  characters of late (Last one is HERE)

I was wondering why. Perhaps this explains it

Lol not every server they were on 2 servers i think.

    ?

There were riots on every server.. in different areas ..just in case you missed them. Still to this day you will randomly see people log in and rant about those updates because they just found out. There were drop parties where the party room was maxed out in the amount of cash in there .. the counter would not go any higher from the sheer amount of people that were quitting at that time.  The worst part about this update is that  they killed the game and they still have rw trading and hackers running rampant. You notice it less only because they are logging on to peoples accounts to get them the gold they pay for now, and you see alot of higher level bots instead of a bunch of lower level ones. They are selling package deals , characters fully loaded though the demand for them has greatly diminished because the games popularity has fallen.
