Well......AoC is class/level based. So that doesnt really count.
Doesn't count for what?
Do you think just because Darkfall doesn't have levels or classes that it's something special?
Do you think anyone is going to play Darkfall instead of games like War and AoC just because it doesn't have classes and levels?
It's unbelievably amazing that there's some people left that actually think that Darkfall even has the slightest chance of competing against either of those games.
The thing with most DF fanbois is that they dont want to play WoW clones. And you get at least one of those released every month. Now you maybe understand better : )
So you think that any game that uses classes and levels is a WoW clone or is some kind of failure?
I fail to understand the logic behind the Darkfall fanboys constantly believing that just because Darkfall claims to be a sandbox PvP mmo that it's going to rule the world because of that.
If anything it's been proven time and time again that that type of model doesn't attract many players at all...
If they have levels that mean you will grind xp. The devs hide the xp grind in "quests". Then you need to new items to match your level. So you need to item grind to. Then we have the class, some pre made choices for the player. For example, a "tank"......what the hell did they get that from? A child? In Vietnam ny friend were a tank...he could take mose damage then everyone else....???
So for me thay are all the same.
If i wanted levels i would join the Scientology church.
The game I must admit looks really really good... Abit like UO. The thing is .. Do you really want to play a mmo thats is so slow in the making? Imagine how long it would take them to patch bugs, or come out with expansions.. Just imagine, after 2-3 year of playing they will announce an expansion... After 6-7 they start doing Dev blogs about it... after 10 years they release their first expansion .. *yawn*
this is actually an excellent point...i don't think people have really thought about this yet

Many people have but its normally ignored by the supporters of this project because its obviously a damning issue that could have a significantly negative effect on the game post release.
Considering the existing development history of Darkfall and using it as an example for post release imagine what implication it would have if it is released.
Well we don’t really need to imagine because anyone who’s been following the development of Darkfall for years and is not living in an imaginary fantasy world understands how abysmal it would be.
The idea that suddenly everything would change just because the game is launched and the developers will instantly start behaving like professionals is wishful thinking.
The game might release in another two to three years if it does. I really want to play DF in the worst way. If you are a member of the DF forums and ask any questions about the release, beta or anything, your post gets locked fast. No doubt the DF dev's like to string people along, I hope its not to the death. Just pisses me off that they cant give any real updates like other mmo dev's give to waiting people. After what???? 5, 6 years, they need to give us that have been waiting for years some real info. I also think that they have somthing very bad to hide by the way that they behave. Dont know about you guys but I feel used up and spent.

I can empathize with you, “used and spent” is quite a pertinent way to describe how most people who have allowed themselves to believe the lies but then eventually realized and rejected them for what they are feel.
The majority of the supporters who post on this and the official site will eventually become disgruntled depending on how much crap they are willing to swallow and how long they are willing to wait before they start questioning.
Its unfortunate that no other developers have released any MMO’s with most of Darkfalls proposed features in the 7 years this pipedream has been dragging on for, so we would not have to suffer the amateurish and dishonest behavior by the developers.
Shame on the developers for acting so unprofessionally and being deceitful for 7 years, but also shame on the community members who have and continue to unquestionably support them for so long with so little to show for it.
Not this year if they don’t start beta or release, which would not surprise me. Question is will you still be supporting this game if they don’t?
Technically speaking no one at the moment is supporting anything or any other game in development because these games are still far off in terms of release, they're pre-beta and the only thing keeping games like these in spot light is the level of interest from the community.
Let the people do whatever they want to do, why do you care? Does it hurt you? do you feel uncomfortable because they're are people who are interested in discussing DF?

Technically speaking no one at the moment is supporting anything or any other game in development because these games are still far off in terms of release, I can definatly agree with you in that respect especially if you are refering to Darkfall. they're pre-beta and the only thing keeping games like these in spot light is the level of interest from the community. The problem is if the majority of that interest becomes negative and only a relatively small amount of people are left looking at the spot light. Let the people do whatever they want to do, I agree, but that applies for everyone including yourself. why do you care? For the same reasons you and everyone else do i presume. Does it hurt you? Only when people say nasty things and hurt my feelings. do you feel uncomfortable because they're are people who are interested in discussing DF? No. I feel perfectly comfortable discussing DF becuase I am interested in doing so.

A couple of things.
1.) This is not a themeparkgame where the customers are lead through 70 levels. This is a sandbox game where the gamers themselves provide the entertainment. Look at EvE, the PvE content isn't very good (although it has improved). So really, what is the need for an expansion pack as such ?
2). You may want to look at the difference between development and patching bugs. One takes way much more time than the other.
3). As a rule 3 things defines the developing process, of any product really. More or less time, money and quality. Please choose only two. Aventurine has chosen less money (and hopefully) more quality over less time. Like the devs of Eve, if they succeed they will of course hire more to handle their customers demand.

You compare it to Eve, I compare it to another game.
A game with no content... a team that fixed bugs about as 'quick' as they developed the game (ie. good freakin luck)... and too much time in development, no money, poor quality.
That adds up to one of two things. Vapourware or another Shadowbane.

I for one likes to make up my own mind by testing it myself instead of labeling them for mistakes other people did. Until that day, I will support any skillbased sandbox game because that is what I am looking for as a customer.

In other words, right before AoC is released

i hope my grandchildren will live when darkfall goes live :P
Maybe not, but most likely they'll (still) be playing WOW. Level cap should be about 225 by then.

Dream on. Age of Conan will have an Exp pack out before Darkfall even nears a playable Beta.. if it ever does.
Darkfall has probably 2 years of development left ... which means it might as well just be cancelled right now.
