edit: I thought I was quoting the guy, I guess I clicked the wrong button :P

Then most gaming company's lie when printing the box cause most games regardless what genre will have minimum specs that mostly ( so thats not always) will sucks for playing the game. But these day's people who are new to games in general seem to have this unrealistic expectations that they should be able to play just about any game ever created and it should be played on what ever system spec a person has.

Well for me as a Gamer there are tons of games where min.specs are hardly playeble, there for I upgrade my system every 1/2 year, a few years ago I use to do this once every 8 months, but as time goes by and less time to actualy spend on my favorite hobby I upgrade slightly less also due to the fact my system is pretty good still today, no DX10 on my system but to me I am not missing  much for now regardless what game.

And....never believe in hype it can make your gaming experiance so much better ( it doesn't have to, depence on the game or  playstye of a person afcourse)

Havent had a crash for more then a month. The game runs perfectly stable at the moment. So I think the OP is full of shyte or his computer is.

I find it interesting that "ILOVEFUNCOM" appeared out of the blue on the same day Gaute Godager got sacked.

yeah someone forgot to read the side of the box, sorry the HP you bought at walmart can't run the game =x

I actually built a pretty decent system to run AOC on and it never used more than 35% of my GPU's. Sorry next.....

Don't mind the fanboys here. They will automatically assume its your pc fault. And the guy telling you that someone forgot to read the side of the box. This is one area I never had problems with. But just because I had no system problems with the game doesn't mean that no one else does.

However I would guess that a least a small portion of the people who had probs might have had Vista with only 1 gig of RAM, or 70+ processes running in the background (like your girlfriend's mom who can't figure out why her PC is running so slowly so you go to her house, look at the task manager and find 87 processes going with 1 gb of RAM.)

I used to frequent the Oblivion forums a lot and at least once a day someone post would post about how crappy the game ran, so people would tell them to post a DX report. And then we would all see a page file of 1.4 gb used and /facepalm.

It isn't necessarily true that the OP's issues were strictly hardware-based; but here is a little story about some recent issues I had that may put things into a different perspective.

Here are my computer specs when I first purchased/subscribed to the game:

    Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 3.0Ghz
    4GB OCZ Reaper PC98500 RAM
    Sapphire Radeon HD3870x2 1GB
    3x320GB SATA HDD
Windows Vista x64 with Service Pack 1

The game ran flawlessly on that system configuration. I never had any issues and played for hours on end with never even the hint of a system crash and normally had FPS between 32 and 48 with nearly every graphic setting maxed.

Then my Radeon burned out. Silly Sapphire/ATI.... they didn't seem to understand that the damn card should either run its fan at full speed all the time, or have some kind of innate temperature monitor to increase fan speed when the chip load/temperature increased.

Instead, basically the fan would go into roaring overdrive only AFTER it had been operating at dangerously high load/temperatures for hours.

    Bastids!

Well, that's ok; I had the card for about four months and it had a year warranty, so I sent it in for RMA.

They couldn't replace it because the card had been discontinued. They offered me a brand new HD4870 512mb DDR5 replacement. Same performance specs, so I accepted. Then I ordered a second HD4870 so I could run them in Crossfire.

Got everything in and installed and then installed RivaTuner so that I could manage the fans so my new cards wouldn't burn out.

Fired up AoC and played for about two hours, zero issues... then suddenly the game completely locks up.

Couldn't even CTRL+ALT+DEL out; locked up my whole system.

Restarted; played another couple hours. Same event.

So I fiddled with the fan speeds and raised them up even higher (to 75% operating speed).

Since then, I haven't experienced a single crash over the last four days of play, with nearly every graphic option maxed out.

The one thing that is still annoying is the occasional graphic tearing/glitches; they come and go though, and I attribute them directly to the extremely KEE-RAPPY Catalyst drivers, (which are probably ATI's single greatest flaw) and the near-universal lack of direct support in the gaming industry for ATI cards.

So the upshot is that at first, I blamed the game; but now I am nearly certain that the culprit was the (still) heat-challenged Radeon cards.

Take it for what it's worth; sometimes you just have to go through all of the possibilities before you condemn the software.

I will say though, that the better a piece of software is developed, the less likely that it will be capable of crashing your system, even if you have hardware issues.

Here are the 3 boxes I run at my house (I dont have 3 accounts I share with my brother and girlfriend) we have a AMD 3200+ a Duo Core 1.8 and a Duo Core 3.0 with respectively a 7600 GT, a 8800 GTS and a 4850.  The only config we had problem with was the 8800GTS cause it needed older NVIDIA drivers and then it ran fine and of course zones would crash but with more memory the OOMs were reduced to 1 to 2 a night and given the vast amount of info that AoC has to process that is not bad at all!

I seriously hope you're not referring to what I said as fanboi dribble. There's nothing at all untrue or blind about what I said. I've yet to see someone say AOC was giving them blue screens, aside from the OP. If it's in the tech forum I missed it, I was just there recently to find out if a 6600 would run AOC.

Now if I can run this game with an ancient POS gfx card and never receive a crash, when back in june I barely could walk 100 feet without getting a OOM error, or falling through the terrain forcing a restart. Something has definitely changed has it not?

As I pointed out I am far from accusing anyone of lying, it just raised the question to me whether this was a problem with AOC or his PC.

There have been some who have reported the BSOD. We had people all the way from closed beta and into/past release that were getting them. It wasn't a huge number of people, but they were there.

Age of Conan is indeed a bag o' shite as the OP indicated.

I have been playing it since launch, and it crashes around about once very 20 minutes dependant on the amount of zoning I do.

As a life-long fan of RE Howard's Conan I am dissapointed at Funcom's take on Conan and Hyborea, which has been boringly generic from start to finish. To be fair Hyboria was never the place to stage an MMO in the first place, Howard's rendering of those ancient lands never included anything like the tank/dps/healer/buffer mentality Funcom forced upon it. Indeed it seldom focused on anything other than the lone barbarian who was Conan.

Readers of Howard's work will agree there really isn't even any lore associated with his works, merely descriptions of the world and its' cities and countries.
