Use common sense guys, i mean, the cap is lvl 10 or 30 because you are playing a demo. Its not like the aion dev would just give you all the content so gold sellers would get the time to start selling golds at launch or anything like that...
If i play a demo of unreal tournament, there is only one death match map, 3 guns and say that the game sux after i would be a retard myself.
Conglusion, you guys should never play a demo, a beta or any none complete game again so you wont get drop to the bad conclusion and say that the game is bad.

Your theory is flawed though. The demo is to get you hooked and want to play the full version. If it isnt then why download the demo at all if you know it will suck and should just buy it anyways. Aion is by no means a bad game but it isnt king of them all either. Aion will rise or fall based on the content that they can keep shoveling out and they will have to do it quicker than their previous efforts since it will take about a fourth of the time played as L2.

This is where you both are wrong. It is not a "demo" its a BETA. Meaning not a finished product of the game nor something for you to just to see if you like the game. Its for you to help them IMPROVE THE GAME.

I must have said this 50x's already....

BETA: preliminary or testing stage of a software or hardware product; "a beta version"; "beta software".

I got hooked on WoW by using 10 day trial, I don't know how far I got then, maybe leve 20 at most. I disliked the general look of the game, but I could not deny the quality and fun factor.

I can't say the same about Aion, I just couldn't stand almost ALL aspects of the game, stopped at level 8.

And did you get your problem? You played aion in beta not in trial, trial appears in games few months or maybe a year after it's gone live.

I agree. I havent even bothered going past 15ish because I dont want to bore myself this early into the game. I'm avoiding pvp until launch like the plague...LOL.

From what I've seen classes dont really start to take off until after level 13 (some quicker then others). I'm seriously having a tough time picking afew classes to play come launch but from I've seen so far Aion is going to keep me busy for plenty of months to come.

Those still stuck on the WoW mindset are seriously missing out because Aion truely is a polished and fun MMO. For those who keep comparing Aion to WoW....go play WoW then, we dont wanna hear you whine and biatch 24/7.

    See everyone ingame!!

The core of Aion is like any other Asian game. To work together and beat the odds. This game isn't really about its PVE content. It is more towards its PVP stuff. The reason why its only one starting area (2 if you include both sides) is because Asians unlike NA apperently tend to work together from the beginning to quickly lvl to 25 get into the pvp stuff and then the real fun begins. For them its all about teamwork... for most of you guys its about your own selfish needs. This might be just me but I'm actually happy you guys didn't like it and won't play it because I sure as hell wouldn't want you on my side later lvls when I would need it.

You guys all bitch about early lvls? How many of you HONESTLY lvl with someone else in the beta besides yourself? Cause i know for a FACT that with me and my 4 friends we beasted through the beta's content with ease and enjoyed every second of it.

Some people are just not going to like the game period.  I didn't like Eve at all even though it's a pretty game and I like sci fi.

It's fine, but keep in mind when you come to a forum and mindlessly trash a game in a fit a of rage (like the oru guy in this thread) you come across worried.

If you don't like the quests, the gameplay, the character models, heck if you hate wings... that's fine.

is there MMORPG that is not the same core? grinding / quests and etc?

The topic question should be :

"Why Some People Register to MMORPG.COM If they Dislike MMORPG Games ? "

    or

"Why WoW People Register to MMOPRG.COM if their god is WoW  ? "

So you have to eat the whole crap pie to know you don't like the taste of crap?  To me a person that forces themselves to eat the whole crap pie when they hate the taste is a strange fellow.  But by all means, have another helping of crap if it validates you on some level.

I haven't had a chance to play Aion yet.  I'm looking forward to giving it a try.  But if I don't like a game I'm not going to force myself to play till I hit max level.  I'm not a professional reviewer, I'm just someone that enjoys games, and if I don't like a game after the first few hours I'm gonna do something else that I do enjoy.  That is why I play games, for enjoyment. Not to justify my opinions to  someone on a gamesite.

I don't hate the game. I just disilike the fact that it doesn't offer anything new. It seems like the mmo genre took a step backward instead of forward. If I get really bored of other games I might even sub for awhile but it doesn't bother me one bit if the game is successful or not.

First off, OP, L2Spell and grammar check.

I am having tons of fun with Aion. I hate questing in all MMO's and I only get into the lore after hitting cap, on release day I will be grinding as fast as I can to lvl 50. If people are going to review the beta... then review it lvl 25+. I just picked up the beta and am not lvl 25 yet, but at least you can get some Abyss reviews in there.

That's exactly what I hate, I thought I can get over it like I got over WoW's cartoonish style, but I just COULDN'T.

The reason why I stalk these Aion forums is to see if I should get a copy for my cybercafe... So far very few people seem to be interested in new MMORPGs, including Aion and Champions Online, and I have open betas constantly for them to see and try.

  • aesperusaesperus Member UncommonPosts: 5,135

The game does get rather repetative for the lvl 1-20 zones (there's only 4 areas, which is the main reason for this). However once you get passed that (even starting at 20) the game starts to open up a bit more.

The "play til the end before you decide" or not argument rages on. It can be said also that people want enjoyable content (and yes, there is alot of commonality everyone shares views on) when they start, as they progress, and even after they cap. The top level end content isn't all in all to someone who is grinding. They also want something interesting while then spend weeks or months levelling.

Why would anyone, nay, any sane person, pay a monthly fee to play a game that only starts being fun in the end? Seriously? That logic is so flawed on so many levels.

When I began WoW back in 2005, and started leveling. I quit at level 6...... It was boring, seemed actually hard to play.

A couple weeks later I was encouraged by a friend of mine to continue playing. Saying it gets better.. I did

I now have a level 80 warlock on WoW... Did it get better then 1-10? of course it did... are you fucking new?... Why? PvP, mounts, instances, raids, EPIC LOOT, new areas to explore, new spells(this was huge to me at the time).. fuck... NEW EVERYTHING. NEW CONTENT.. patches that didn't even affect me at lvl 10 now affect me and my gameplay.. at level 10 players in WoW still don't get anything new from patches... how fun can that be? I wonder why they are releasing Cataclysm... Their old content hasn't been updated, and is STILL boring.

Compared Ulduar to elwynn or teldrassil questing... compare a lvl 10 rogue that JUST got dual wield.. to a lvl 80 rogue that is now dual wielding 2 of the best daggers in WoW.. Shit gets different... it improves.

And this is why I won't even consider quitting Aion before I cap out. It's unfair.. I haven't : *PVP'D* yet.. Wtf? the game almost revolves around this.. , I barely got wings by level 10(awesome cutscene action btw, i can't remember the last cutscene i saw in WoW.. are there any?), havent even seen the abyss yet, havent done fortress fights or whatever. havent done group raids or instance fights, havent even explored 1/4 of the regions. haven't gotten more then 6ish spells/attacks. and more... havent capp'd any professions, have i actually done anything that this game has to offer by level 10?

One thing worth noting is that currently, all there is to do on WoW is the same shit.. instances that are fixed.. pvp that is rigged.. and a community that is....incredibly annoying. Play literally the oldest most repetitive game in history(WoW) Or play something that is actually NEW to me. Chain skills, aerial combat, pvp system. etc, etc.. Aswell as something that is new to everyone else..(the game hasn't even been released yet, and people are saying it lacks content...... In comparison to what? the 4 year old used condom that is WoW? that has 2 expansions and a 3rd one on its way?)

    ---------

I started COD... first few hours.. i thought the game sucked... turns out i sucked..... got levels, got weapons.. the game turned out to be awesome

I started CSS first few hours.. i thought the game sucked... turns out i sucked..... got some skill.. the game turned out to be awesome

I started Dead Space first few hours.. i thought the game sucked... turns out i sucked..... the further into the game, the more the difficulty increased, the more fun it got... the game turned out to be awesome

Not really because anyone who joins WoW this late in the game would say the same thing. It's not fun until you hit the lvl cap. The Barran's chat alone kills 100k subs every day and people don't even realize it. As soon as those people get to that zone its like "oh hell no" and unsub.

    (Mostly talked shit above ^^)

Really though last I check no one I know who is just starting WoW for the first time now has said the game is fun until they get within the last 10 lvls before lvl cap aka lvl 70. There is just nothing to do... but grind... and quest... and grind... and grind some more... (yeah there are quest but really all your doing is grinding... "kill 50 of these and come back; good you came back? kill another 50 of that last thing's older brothers; awesome now kill 100 of those things parents..."

You're an idiot then. An MMO takes more then a few hours to even get a glimpse of what may become. See you at release, even though you "won't play" I'm sure.

  • CacolacoCacolaco Member UncommonPosts: 99

I think the real issue here is that people were hoping for the holy grail, and instead got a solid mmorpg that builds on other games' past success.

I've found Aion to be polished and well thought out. The art design is good. The character creator is robust.

The quests aren't anything groundbreaking, and are very reminiscent of WoW/EQ2/Vanguard/WAR/etc., etc., etc. I actually have felt that the flow from quest to quest is really smooth in this one, and in most places, travelling back and forth is simple, due to easy access to teleporters/flight npcs.

The art design does have a heavy "Asian" influence, so that might not be for everyone.

Combat does feel similar to WoW, with some differences. I like the skill chains. I like how when you are out of range for a spell, it automatically moves you into range to cast it. I like the number of spells. While there are spells like Smite II and Smite III, etc., they give you bunches of new spells along the way as well - more than a lot of other games I've played.

Crafting and gathering don't seem to be anything special, but I do like how they have places where you need to fly to gather something.

Flying, in general, is pretty cool - even if you can't do it everywhere. You can glide anywhere.

Equipment is decent. I like how you can equip the stones in the armor/weapons to boost their capabilities.

I like that the quest journal will mark where things are on the map IF you want it to. Some quests, where you are supposed to search for something, won't mark the map for you, but other players can link a location to you, which is great. I like the translucent map.

I liked the fact that there is a primary quest line, that continues the story, and a separate tab for side quests.

It looks like there are a lot of things that I haven't been able to try yet (Stigmas, PVP, and so on), so I know there is more to expect from this game. I've only made it to lvl 13.

I have tried many "F2P Asian grinders". Aion shouldn't be seriously compared to them. I keep finding out more cool things about this game. Last night, I realized that I could buy teleport scrolls to instantly go to places, and resurrection points that your group can use for 2 hours.

This game is definitely NOT a grind. Yes, there are quests that ask you to go kill x starving wolves, but it doesn't take long to get from level to level. I definitely think I've progress as fast, or faster than in WoW, up to lvl 13, questing all the way. Heck, they pretty much spot you level 10. Level 9 was about 10 seconds long....

I'm just waiting for a F2P overhyped sandbox WoW clone with full PVP, epic raid bosses, instanced group content, and Crysis-quality graphics to come out. That, or something fun.

  • Sinner01Sinner01 Member UncommonPosts: 10

I think it can be simply put... compare a fight with any mob in The Barrens... with any fight in Ulduar.

There is the difference between level 10... and the level cap.

  • Angier2758Angier2758 Member UncommonPosts: 1,026

1-10 you decide if you like the feel of the game (graphics, art direction, character creation, and music).  The first few hours basically... if you like the feel then you decide if you're going to play for awhile.

I still can't get over the people who yell f2p korean game like republicans yell death panels (or Al Sharpton yells racism).  It has better graphics than WAR, WoW, EQ2 and Vanguard (I just played a few months in Vanguard so that's the most recent comparison for me)... but *no one* said they looked like f2p korean games.  It's not the same style, but stop acting like Aion's got cheap graphics it makes you look ignorant.

  • IrishIrish Member UncommonPosts: 259

OP, If I am shelling out 60 bucks for a Collectors Edition and paying another 15 monthly, the content should feel like a bj from beginning to end.

And like a bj, it should be the most enjoyable at the end.

No one should settle for 10-25 levels of crap to get to the good stuff. If they don't like something even a small fraction, they have that right to cast it aside for something they find better.

Personally, however, I am enjoying Aion, and I haven't even gotten to PvP yet, which is my favorite aspect of an MMO.  I just humbly disagree with your opinion that every game is crap at early levels, and that is what we should expect.

If they can't make good content in levels 1-30 what makes you think they made something worth playing at later levels????

Because it's been that way before... Even with WoW.... However WoW was even worse than Aion was.. Aion actually has an interesting story, you BECOME a Daeva, you gain wings. In the very beginning you are treated like garbage, like you are worthless(They even make fun of you in the beginning) quest givers give you the feeling that you accomplished something. And than later you become something that people thought you had little potential of becoming. Not to spoil the epic *cutscene* at level 10, but I loved how the people of pandemonium were almost offended at the thought of you being a daeva.. then they all applaud you later.

In WoW... You.............Uh............you.................fuck................damn it..................I hate these trick questions.......... Is there a storyline for WoW? Or do you just follow where the quests tell you to go? I actually can't remember any form of significance in any of the quests in all of WoW. But with that said, how did WoW turn out after the terrible leveling process? great. it was awesome for years...

    then it got boring...

Personally, I had more fun leveling from 1-10 in Aion then i did in 1-10 in WoW. The cutscenes and the feel of actually accomplishing and becoming something, gaining wings.. proving yourself...

In WoW i think I gained a new ability... like Resurrect. or something..

  • Angier2758Angier2758 Member UncommonPosts: 1,026

Yep WoW destroyed it's own lore.
