most of the so called "constructive complaints" is just an uninformative drivel. I am not surprised they are sick of you people on MO boards. At least this OB weeds out the most prolific whiners,  I suppose that is a good thing.

besides SV have said, in numerous interviews that they expect most people coming from theme parks will return to what ever they were playing before coming to MO. So, like poster above somewhere said, yes please do take your money elsewhere if you don't like it.

Hate the player, not the game.

    StJudas is right.

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

    Business 101

Make 10 people happy they might tell 1 person they are happy with you.

Make 1 person unhappy they will tell 10 or more the story.

You might be right but nobody is telling your story.

The mod in question admitted his mistake, apologized to the person he was harrassing and resigned.  There really is little more to discuss on the issue.

Agreed. Hopefully, in the future, the mods can deal with this kind of issue privately - by locking or deleting such threads so that we can blame them for silencing criticism or some other nonsense.

In this specific thread, maybe.  I can see this being used as an example when discussing general Community Management duties, protocol, customer service training, etc...

Fixed that for you, since anyone with sense can figure out what really happened.

I'm actually happy this whole thread/forum post happened here - I know now to stay the HELL away from Mortal Online.  (I don't even know what it is, but I know enough to know that I want no part of it.  How was THAT for making an impact on a potential customer.  If they "don't want" customers like me, fine, my money spends well elsewhere, too.)

    :)

The restaraunt analogy sort of happened to me.  Not to get off topic, but I went to a Chinese restaurant, after ordering, the food arrived 1.5 hours later, and mostly cold... The place wasn't busy, and was not excuse for this.  I complained and asked why the food took so long, and they simply tried appologizing, but without any reasonable explanation.  Make a long story short, I not only ended up paying for the whole meal, but also, the cheff, several waiters, and their concierge followed me and my dinning partner outside and complained that I didn't tip!  To say that the shit hit the fan, is an understatement, as they tried to hold me and my friend outside the restaurant while they called the police!  Anyways, as insane as that sounds, it was 100% true.

Now to stay on topic, I agree with this post... to quote, "If they 'don't want' customers like me, fine, my money spends well elsewhere, too."

Fun fact: Guys at Valve started by modding Quake 1 and their first full game (half life) was a hit

Well, going from a First Person shooter to another first person shooter isn't much of a difference =P

No, its not really, no excuse for rude or ignorant behavior from either side.  Being a potential customer does not give a person the right to be an arse.

Harden up folks, this is a game made for the thick skinned.  Can't take the forum PVP, don't play.

I assume you heard the statement "the customer is always right"?

Do you know why? Because the customer pays the money to the ones who services and as such has more freedom to be rude or ignorant than the servicer.

The MO mods arent employees, they are volunteers. They don't get paid to moderate the forums, they are not part of the dev team.

Sure, what they say on the forums still reflects on SV, but it was in no way a member of the Dev team who raged on the forum as some in this thread seems to believe.

Yeah, but at this point that doesnt really matter. I think that when it comes to MO, the crux of the matter is 'no money, no vices'. You dont have the money to make a game? You dont make a game. Dont have money to hire people to do a job? Job doesnt get done.

If you "hire" forum trolls to moderate your forums, it will reflect on everyone.

I believe WoW is only MMO with its own forums that has hired mods

Mortal Online developers have had to apologize to customers on the forums before... it's par for the course.  This is a mild one and the guy actually came off OK, there are plenty of instances (particularly in IRC) where they are vulgar and nasty.

Jesusomg. He (Mats) was so rude awwww... Well, at least he is human and appologies for it. And they did take care of that StJudas thing. I guess (and know) that most forums has this problems one time or another. It is pretty hard not to have it at 100k + members.

They are also humans, remember that =) I promise you that there are plenty more times when they just swollowed all the bs and did nothing about it!

This is why I don't work in retail. I'd make inconsiderate, obnoxious customers cry themselves to sleep.

I don't blame StJudas one bit.

Most games pay forum Mods....In fact Turbine posted a "help wanted" on the LOTRO forum for moderators at around $19/hr if I remember correctly.

-You get what you pay for...

As a free labor Mod who is getting no compensation (maybe free game time or something but...) its a whole lot harder to deal with Trolls and abuse than a Mod who has a 40K job on the line. Mods (paid or not) represent the company for good or ill and ARE a reflection of how the company IS and WILL BE.

Believe me, you will be hearing of Starvault being sued for one reason or another here in the real near future. If it is not this, it is the way the are handling the customer service and misleading people. That comes into play with the consumer rights act in most countries. All the release dates they have promised and all other things they have promised falls into most consumer rights acts against them in many many ways, and someone will eventually step up and sue them.

And could win very easily, someone with some extra time and money please look into this...misleading of the consumer...sue thier asses please.

For anyone who's played Mortal Online. I have to agree with the OP. I've played numerous beta (Fallen Earth, Gods and Heroes, Cities XL to name a few) and it's in a horrible state for open beta.

The amount of sever side lag makes it almost unplayable. Do you know hard it is to fight when your actions are 5 seconds behind?!?! Even mining is difficult.....

And that's not even mentioning the memory leaks, constant nowgame.exe crashes and crazy high system requirements....
