I'm feeling pretty lucky. I not only got an invite but got in on the test group for one of the classes I'm really interested in playing. I have to say when I checked my gmail the other day I first assumed it was spam, but after finding it to be real I was pretty thrilled.
I've done my best to make sure my weekend is completely clear. Now, I can't wait for it to actually start.
I do hope that if you play it a lot and give good feedback you get high priority for the next invites.
Is all this once again "random" picking or are they firstly trying to pick certain people in the US with specific computer specs?
Don't know about location, but they are going to have sets of random groups with various computer specs. That just makes sense. Otherwise you might not properly test the game on low-end computers or high-end. Assuming they are using proper sampling techniques.
I have the worst luck with invites to these anymore.

1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
So instead of refreshing your inbox, i think better yet refresh youtube as im sure there will be SOME leaked content that will be up on there before it gets deleted ;p.
It is true, I got an invite in my email box earlier today. I cant say what I was selected to test, but it wasn't Trooper/Smuggler like the guy on the official forums. Seems folks are getting sorted into different pairings to test.
According to the agreement, we are allowed to say that 1) Yes, there is a test, and 2) I am a part of it. Everything else is under strict NDA
