I used to have the HP to support it if I didnt run into any good players, not anymore, even the bads can take me down now since it takes so long to kill people.
I think you just went to point out why the patch was needed, since you had the HP advantage, you won, now that you don't have it, you lose "even the bads"... imo that means exactly one thing, YOU SUCKED! and the only way you could ever beat anyone was because of AN ADVANTAGE!
damn dude, listen to yourself. are you really that retarded to make those assumptions?
take things to extremes much? game isn't about 1v1, its about not losing just b/c you are vs more than one guy. LOL, these jokers, do they even think before they post?
Hes not taking anyting to the extreme, hes just pointing out that you were a failure of a player and could only win with a small HP advantage, and pointing out that you just SAID IT YOURSELF!
umm, no, you are an assuming idiot that don't know wtf you are talking about. I am one of the better DF players, lots of people know me and my skills. you are one of the idiots who says the sky is black. I win tournaments and I am better than you in every day, deal with it.
Your ingame name please. Other wise put your "win tournaments" else where. No proof = not done.
You were better as you had an edge over other players and now you arent better as you lack the skill to aim with magic and dont have a great advantage over other players. If you would have the player skill and other stuff you would play Darkfall as now player personl skill matters more then it was before.
turd burglar, i still win tournaments . you are all shit to me.
I am pro and you are not, deal with it.
I bet you guys are too cowardly to say your in-game names.
Aventurine already dealt with your being pro character advantage instead of player skill.. Like someone said, prove it or it never happen. Make a video on youtube.
Lumps - We'll really just have to agree to disagree and wish you luck and fun in any game you move on to. Just recognize you don't speak for any one but "you" and "you" do not represent "hardcore" or any category per se; in fact, what your posts reflect is that the changes to DFO have interfered with the manner you enjoyed the game and are pissed off; which is fine; that will happen no matter what a developer does.
As for me, I come from playing PvP games since UO released in Sept. 97' and have played them all I think. I love the recent changes because they helped to bring balance to the game and give players who have a life and play games as a hobby a chance to compete. Adjustment to the damage of splash damage which took zero skill was an excellent game balancing move. Adjusting the hit points of all characters and vitality progression on a curve was excellent and again balanced the playing field. Allow rare pulls of rare ore from normal mines gives the average player a chance to craft some better gear and compete with those who own cities with mines and this was done in a manner that retained the advantage of having a mine while allowing a window of access to those who don't.
Under these changes that you complain about one with skill can still own multiple opponents; but it actually takes skill now, not the fact you leveled X number of AOE top tier magery spells and aim is not required.
Your reference to hacks is a desperate effort to prove a position that lacks any credibility and only makes you sound even more like a disgruntled complainer unable to adapt to a game changing for the purpose of widening the number of players that have a chance to compete. Hacks have been going on since the start like all games and have been addressed rather well by AV. This is no more an issue today it was a year ago, actually less as I can tell you first hand from my own experience in fights in the game now; I am not running in to them and I know them when I do having played since beta.
You've made your points. We get it. You're unhappy. I on the otherhand, a player since the start find the direction DFO is taking to be spot on (albeit there will always remain some tweaks to hit the sweet spot) with absolutely no compromise; in fact the reverse as I see AV's decisions incresing the fun factor for most by a lot and evolving a game that is more inviting to new players,

CC makes some excellent points. I have trouble reading through most of the posts by MrLumps because they are so full of whining and incoherent ranting that I don't think I'm going to make it very far trying to read all of the posts in this thread. I'm stopping at this post because the point is made that with a more equal field, and a curve on the skill gain, skill does play a larger role, yet it is still possible for a skilled player to dominate.
In UO, the stats worked in a similar way, and everyone's stats were fairly equal even from a very early stage. A skilled player could encounter a group of other players of equal level and still come out on top because they were good at the game. This seems to be the move Darkfall is making, and it is a positive one, in my opinion.
EDIT: a note needs to be made about UO - skill gain (as in, the actual skills) was very important, but the stats allowed new players to escape or have similar hit/stam as older players.
So, people can remain furious that their hard work has not yet netted them a "win button", but I think it is a very good idea on AV's part.
fun game. I find myself playing this more than Darkfall since the latest welfare gaming patch that put 1 year old chars and 1 month old chars within 1-2 hits of each other.
AV had better start praying blizzard doesn't copy their model b/c they will perfect the instant gratification, Darkfall is no longer a niche game, Darkfall is for the masses. RIP long term progression , solo city raiding, you will be missed.
retort: There is always someone who wants less grind than you, "why should their needs be denied?" is what you equally selfish people are saying. Don't you think there comes a point where the game lacks challenge? well it lacks challenge for me and a lot of people like me already and maybe someday they will make something so easy that you thought didn't need to be made easier and you may think "hey, thats welfare gaming! It wasn't that hard, they are cating to whiney babies who can't handle putting effort into their characters" and then there will be people on the forums saying its for the good of the game when in fact, they are killing it and driving away its base.
Cry us a river...lol. Go play EvE then and get off the forums would ya? :-)
I used to have the HP to support it if I didnt run into any good players, not anymore, even the bads can take me down now since it takes so long to kill people. Nobody could argue I wouldnt shit all over you and anyone of them in 1v1. numbers already had advantages, one can block while the others hit you in the back, it was hard enough as it was to fight outnumbered. This latest patch is a perfect example of welfare gaming, too many babies crying about the grind being too hard and not wanting to put forth the effort to develop their characters like the people Darkfall was supposed to be meant for. the hardcore dedicated players always seem to get the shaft on the issue of making the game more appealing to the masses of whiners and instant gratification scrubs.
just sayin, I find myself playing Eve now that long term progression and fighting outnumbered is dead. latest patch took a lot of the skill out of the game and made it more so that numbers have the advantage even moreso, pretty lame "sandbox" if you ask me when the only valid tactics are zerging since everyone has near the same HP and damage output now.
I'm sure there are other long term DF players who wont be logging in as much, less players in the world, and the fickle children will be gone again soon too awaiting the next patch to make the game easier for them. They ruin every game, you know who you are whiners. Darkfall wasnt for you but you destroyed it anyway. RIP long term progression and fighting outnumbered.
moral of the story: be careful what you wish for
Sounds to me like you went from God-Mode to not-so-god-mode and your ego got hurt lol. Entertaining indeed
Are you denying the fact that noobs deal 5-10 damage to a vet while a vet deals 45-50 dmg to a noob?
in equivilant gear? YES, god yes, people are so ignorant and misinformed, you get hit with a really expensive weapon in the back and you hit the vet with a leafblade in the front and you look at your damage and you dont understand so you cry on the forums "WTF AV". I understand a lot of the cries about the game, all comming from ignorant noobs who don't know WTF they talking about. Ed zitrons everywhere
every 10 points of STR adds +1 damage, big whoop
macroing for a month to get stoneskin from 1 to 99 will get you a whopping extra .6 less damage, that is POINT SIX, just so you understand the insignificant character differences you guys are crying about.
the last 10 points of mastery aren't worth grinding for b/c you will get like +1 more damage for getting 100, mastery damage increase is linear so you do just with 75. My buddy started a new char a couple weeks ago and he already has over 60 weapon mastery adn near 350 HP, its easier to blame the game than blame yourself for why you suck.
Why would a vet be using a leafblade? Thats just silly. Vets do not use leafblades.
No, I mean does a noob with a leafblade (or a blade droppable from goblins) do more then 10 dmg to properly equipped vet (with level 50-75 armor) and will a vet (using a level 50 equivalent weapon) do 30-40-50 damage to the noob dressed in cloth/leather (those are items droped from goblins)? Both are hitting each other in the face, not the back.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
I gave dark fall a try but it just wasn't for me the pvp was awesome but it just didn’t float my boat. I do enjoy eve from time to time. I am usually just a meat shield for the fleet but hey they pay for my insurance so I can bitch about it.

I havent really followed darkfall as close as I should have but reading your thread is very interesting and funny. I kinda feel the same way about aion, cause aion is the golden egg from the swan for me. When it first released it played well on my 5 year old laptop, I had loads of fun, the developer was always announcing stuff over the server and changning stuff, it was a blast and the pvp with the pve was ingenious to me having rifting and the abyss. Needless to say not everyone felt the same way I felt and most of it came in the form of welfare gaming as you so eloquently stated in yours.
Understnad that Mr Lumps aka Turd Burglar is actually a decent player ( fought him many times ). Notn the best but certainly above average.
HOWEVER, he is also one of the whiniest players in the game.
If you kill him, he will rage tell for 30 minutes that you were hacking
I was running to meet some friends who were our for a bit of PvP and stumbled across mister Turd Burglar mount farming. His extra battlehorn was simply sitting right in fornt of me and I was riding a horse so I traded mounts and went on my merry way. Again I got to endure rage tells about my "radar" and "teleport" hacking for 45 minutes.
Also understand that he is one of those players which had 400+ HP long ago and this would be a huge advantage in fights. I have been in foghts with him doling out 100's more damage than him and he still beat me. The last patch likely impacted his play style significnatly.
He has always whined. Will likely always whine. But in reality he is a decent player despite the whining and I would bet he isn't going anywhere.
Think of Mr Lumps as the Alfar version of Ginger Magician, except he can actually win a fight outside of ganking a crafter.
