Can someone explain to me why WoW runs like shit on my PC but FFXIV runs fine?

A game is a game is a game is a game is a game....that will always be true with anything you do, but to have a real story with pretty darn good plot line (unlike any other MMORPG where there are nothing but pop-culture jokes and skits with little to no depth in story or in-depth focus on the world your in and the characters surrounding it) makes all the difference.  Yes, it's an MMO, yes it's hard to differentiate any MMO from another, but it's little things like immersion and in-depth storytelling that seperates FFXIV from others.  If what you want is fast paced action and gear grinding, I have a hard time believing that this will be a game you'll want to play.

I tend to be critical when people say something like that. The best online roleplaying experience I ever gotten was still NWN and that was still really far from how good things can be.

Lets just say it is less about killing things and have better RPG experience than Gauntlet, Aion or Wow and be quite about that true thing, ok?

I agree....that's probably how I would have worded it had I thought about it a bit more.  The idea of an actual RPG experience is the point I was trying to get across.

Either you live in Opposite Land or you've mistaken WoW's crappy graphics for poor PC performance.

And if WoW is the fast food MMO that doubled the size of my ass in five years of play, FFXIV is the MMO that would give me nothing but stomach ache.

<<Not exactly true. Blizzard started working on Wow in 1997>>

What?! 1997 was the era of UO and EQ in 98, and the lead quests designers for WoW was playing EQ at the time, and wasnt affiliated with blizzard, sorry to piss on your chips but you're wrong.

As for FF14, sorry OP, you must be one hell of a blind fanboy to praise this game that much, it is a fun game, but with all the flaws and the none progressive paterns, like alot of others i'm going to give a 3/10 at the moment, i've seen closed beta stages with more depths than FF14 open beta.

A connoisseur by definition is someone with a great deal of knowledge about a subject.  The fact the OP believes he falls into this category and is promoting that with this title leaves little validity to anything he has to say about FFXIV IMO.

This game doesn't "require", rather it shouldn't, a high-end PC to play, it's just very, very, VERY poorly optimized. It's graphics are pretty, but they're pretty from the Aion design-style, which uses tricks and Depth of Field to make non-impressive things look very sleek and good. Nothing on this game is GPU or CPU intensive, it's just not well put together. I only hope that they figure it out and fix it before launch, because no PC can run this game as it should be played and have it run smoothly. The situation is akin to AoC's launch and it took them nearly a year to optimize it, though their Dev team was trash.

Oh and not to mention that the mouse has to be fixed using a solo modder's patch else the game is unplayable. Unless you have a gamepad from what I've heard.

In short, the mechanics are fine, the game looks good, it just needs a lot of fine-tuning. Much more than 20 days or so can do.
