In this week's Community Spotlight, Mike Bitton has chosen the forum topic "Your First MMO Love". The question is which MMO first captivated your attention and whether or not it's still the bee's knees in your heart.
For the sake of clarity, I will define the term first MMO By first MMO I don't mean the one you tried first. I mean the one you really got into. I played UO first for about a month and I never got into it. Same thing happened with my second MMO - EQ. My third MMO, WoW, was the one I really got into it. So I would be using WoW as my first MMO and not UO.

The 1° Was Runes Of Magic... Well, after lots of money spent, im out of the F2P model. Darkfall FTW.
my fav was and still is 9 dragons wish i could play it still
The first MMO that I really got into was Tibia.
My first love was Asheron's Call.
I did play Meridian and UO and some EQ (only one month) first, but those didn't capture my soul the way AC did.
My first MMO which i really got into was Anarchy Online.
I still think that MMO could give me the best MMO experience till date.
Have played countless many but yet could not find the depth like AO in any.

" Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you can't play this or that. That's nonsense. Make up your mind, and you'll never whine or repent about gaming hours anymore, then have a go at every Game. Open up the Internet, join in all the Mmorpgs you can. Go make the Guild. But never, never let them persuade you that things are too difficult or impossible. "
Once An Addict Always An Addict .
UO was the first one I played and enjoyed.
My theme song.
I have tried UO and EQ but never had my first love of a game till Star Wars Galaxies (Pre-NGE), though I moved on to other loves like COH and WOW. SWG will always be first.
WoW Vanilla. I spent forever in the Barrens helping new guildies. Great fun and it felt like something useful. BC was still fun, but after that was downhill fo me. Just not the same game anymore.
UO
Nothing Else
id have to say legend of ares was my first mmo i got in to and was sad when they closed it down. that game made dungeon runs with parties and just grinding by its self fun
My first was AO, but the second (week later) was AC2. No other one has had me like that one did. It might have had it's problems but it was my first one so I didnt know better. Since then all the others have been shallow and bad.
How many delicate flowers have you met in Counterstrike?
I got a case of beer and a chainsaw waiting for me at home after work.
The original EverQuest was my first MMO love. I met a lot of fun people there, a couple of girlfriends, and at least two people who went on to become close "real life" friends. The massive amount of hours I spent on that game seems silly to me today, but the challenge of that game gave it a sort of magic that no other MMO has matched.
That being said, it is not my favorite MMO, because of the huge amount of time it demanded to make real progress, and because of the incredible anger it caused. No other game has made me scream and shout the way that one did. Spending several hours grinding out experience, because apparently there is very little "quest" in EverQuest, only to have it all ripped away because I ran through the wrong hallway was infuriating. Some people say current MMOs lack the challenge of the old ones. I say thank goodness for that
Looking back, it is a love/hate thing. I even logged in recently when SOE was doing a free period, and the whole thing felt awkward to me. I will never go back. For now, I will stick to my favorite MMO, EverQuest II.
Ah, people have to short memory for this.
The old text-based MMO's, socalled MUDS are still my best MMO experience. Probably cause nothing can beat imagination, and the fastpaced pvp combat they included, where skill and how you used your abilities counted more than any gear or level.
The first MMO I enjoy and was truly immersed in was Ryzom. I've played many games but non can compare or fulfills the feeling of immersion. Sadly today Ryzom's RP community is practically non-existent and given the very poor population it isn't as enjoyable as it was in its early days. I don't play anymore because I've outgrown it and after so many years there comes time when one has to say Adios even to their first love.
I came to post these exact same words, thanks for doing it for me
Ryzom was also my 'first' MMO Shroudednova. I still have very fond memories of the game and the people I played with. It's sad that it had to deteriorate the way it did.
Asheron's Call.
I still think about this game today, even though I quit in like 2002 I think.
Thistledown 4 life!
EVE Online for me.
My first one was 9Dragons. I played it for 3 years. Then, I met P2P MMOs...

Have yet to fall in love with an MMORPG. Hoping SWTOR will be it.
Ultima Online. However, since then, I have enjoyed Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, and Everquest II just as much, sometimes more. It's just that UO was the first, and really the only of it's kind. That holds true today.
AC Was my first. I was the ultimate noob when I started.I fell in love with it and played for 7 years.
MU online.
My first was Lost Cause oops I mean Last Chaos, played it for 3+ years since CB, lost interest
Ultima Online for a few years, then Earth & Beyond and now World of Warcraft.
