Sigh. I pre-ordered the CE but I won't cancell my Christmas plan no matter how tempted I am. I'm also going to make sure my family and girlfriend know how much I care about them that I am willing to wait for something I'm super excited for so I can spend the holidays with them.
I'll attend to my family events (which are minimal,) and the rest of the time in a galaxy far, far away. I'm an unemployed student and I'll be between semesters, so I'm going to have a buttload of time to play.
I usually get dragged out of the house for what equals out to about a day total between my family and my inlaws family so I may lose the better part of a day but considering I should have already been playing for days or soon will be able to I won't be cancelling anything.
No... But playing SWTOR may replace watching football after dinner this year as some of my family are fans of MMO games too. So, it may well change them from the typical if I choose to buy the game. I am kind of on the razor's edge with it.
saving up vacation days to have that time off. Built new system for wife to play SWTOR 9/20/11. Moved to a new place that has better internet 9/1/11. Built new system for self 6/11. Plans coming to fruition.
12/20 is wedding anniversary. Wife said: we can play all day and only stop for celebratory sex.
Bad release date not just for us the customers but for bioware's employees also. A week before xmas or after new years would have been a much better choice.
But this might be their plan, since not a lot of people will be on for 1-3 days perhaps they wont have server issues or to many people jumping on all at one time.
Im off that entire week for xmas/new years so im glad about that. Just hope i dont have to wait forever to get in due to their staged opening <--- goes by when you pre-ordered correct? If i read that right.
I plan to take my time and explore everywhere in every location I go to. Don't really need to cancel any plans cause I'm not going to ruin the game by powerleveling.
If you powerlevel in SW:TOR you're DOING IT WRONG.
If you powerlevel in ANY game, you're DOING IT WRONG.
How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW? As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.
I assume they feel the rollout will be painless enough to warrant a few people getting holiday pay to monitor and maintain the servers.
I expect large stress tests in November and the early access (presuming 1 week or so) will give the servers/software a good live trial almost 1.5 weeks before most companies release the bulk of their employees for Christmas (23rd/24th).
I didn't change my plans other than to say that now I plan to play SWToR as opposed to waiting for SWToR. Ha Ha.
I will be spending Christmas not playing TOR _but_ will be watching with interest to see if it launches smoothly and stays afloat financially. If so then I will try it out later on. This is nothing personal against TOR as it is standard procedure for me with all MMO's that I have played, WoW included.
Gonna be on Holiday which is annoying because I never thought they would release a game at such a stupid time when games do not sell. I cannot moan though I will be on a great holiday and rather that than being stuck at home for two weeks anyways.
Besides a good meal with the whole family on the day anything outside of that on Xmas really is a load of over the top nonsense. Biggest con ever Xmas to make money change hands, teaching the next gen to be over the top consumers and develop materialistic attitudes.
I cancelled christmas this year, but not because of a game, just because christmas is meh I must say im abit jealous i dont have any games i play atm, nothing like spending christmas eve online in a MMO.
So hard to decide on the one hand I could cancel my previous Christmas plans to play SWTOR or I could sit on the couch stuffing my face with mince pies whilst watching the great escape for the 5 millionth time or maybe mix it up a bit and watch another repeat of a shitty Morceambe and Wise christmas special from 1984 (and it wasn't funny when I saw it back then!).
Maybe I'll have to cancel the fartathon after Christmass dinner to play SWTOR? What a tradgedy that would be! or maybe I'll have to miss watching the wooden horse or bridge over the river Kwai or listening to some fuckwit relative talk about lawn green bowling?
My point is unless you're below the age of 21 Christmass has long lost it's attraction and having plans for Christmas means doing the same boring shit as last year (unless you're rich). Unfortunately many of us are too polite to cancel thier plans but in reality we'd all love to pick up the phone and tell friends X or relatives Y " I'm staying home alone and don't call me for another three months and tell everyone else to F*** OFF! ". I did that once and trust me it was worth it!
" Bring me sunshine in your smile bring me laughter all a while
In this world where we live there should be more happiness
So much joy you can give to each brand new bright tomorrow
Make me happy through the years never bring me any tears
Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above
Bring me fun bring me sunshine and bring me love
Bring me sunshine in your eyes bring me rainbows from the clear blue skies
Life's too short to be spent having anything but fun
We can be so content if we gather little sunbeams
Be light hearted darlin' all day long keep me singing a happy song
Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above
Bring me fun bring me sunshine and bring me love
Bring me sunshine in your smile...
Bring me fun bring me sunshine and bring me love "
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND SEE YOU IN SWTOR!

Not me, since swtor is bascally wow in space, been there done that to many times in mmo's this is just another crappy wow wannabe/clone to me, nothing exciting about it. I don't see why anyone gets excited over swtor to be honest, but i guess thats just me. I am gonna be smart and wait for a trial since from what I have seen it looks like it plays like wow, just with some voice acting for the quests.

Edit: Also, well Emp, did you?
Did I cancel my plans? No.
Is there a chance I'll end up forgetting to show up at the family gathering on Christmas Eve? Quite possibly.
Oh, and I'll probably cash in some vacation time immediately after New Years.
i plan to fit both star wars:tor and family plans in. part being adult is fitting gametime in with daily life events.
Mine was already cancelled due to RL other issues. :P

I rarely have plans, but in my line of work, we are off for 2 weeks at that time of year.
So I will probably be playing quite a bit. But If friends make plans to do somethiing I will live my real life and not worry about a virtual world.

Not me, no game is more important then spending time with family.
i'll probably end up playing a few days after christmas then celebrate new years properly like we do every year then really get into the game in jan.

Didn't have any plans to begin with, so nothing to cancel.
Chowdown at parents, then my xmas is done
