You know, not all people are catholics and celebrate Christmas on 24-th or 25-th(don't know the correct date for the catholic Christmas), but there are Christians who celebrate it on the 7-th Jan and other religious and non-religious people and will have time to play the game.
Have that in mind.
However, I wouldn't play a game on Christmas since I will be spending my time with my family.
Not only Catholics celebrate on the 25th, so do Protestants, and that includes a lot of different denominations. Of course there's also Hanukkah and other holiday celebrations as well. So really, we're looking at a holiday season full of days, not just December 25th alone.
saving up vacation days to have that time off. Built new system for wife to play SWTOR 9/20/11. Moved to a new place that has better internet 9/1/11. Built new system for self 6/11. Plans coming to fruition.
12/20 is wedding anniversary. Wife said: we can play all day and only stop for celebratory sex.
Who cancelled their Christmas plans? I'll tell ya who. SANTA! All of his reindeer, and about a quarter of his elves (most of the elves are diehard GW2 fans.) So good job there Bioware. When the children of the world come down to find thier trees barren of presents on Christmas morning because jolly old ST Nick just had to play one more damned game of Huttball, I hope you are proud of yourselves.

I have some unscheduled vacation time that I might take at the end of the year, extending my Christmas vacation by a few days. I wouldn't cancel any plans I have with family though. I just have a lot of down time at the end of the year and SW:ToR might be just the thing to fill it.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

I thought I was over this MMOG malarky, but after reading up on SWTOR I'm set to actually play - even though I detest the SW IP. The storyline centric focus, plus the possibility of romance with companions (Riko Tachibana skin coming right up!) with meaningful, emotional relationships than treating them like a buff or DPS bot, and hopefully meaningful interaction with other players has caught my imagination.
Christmas? Agricola1 has pretty much nailed it for me. Besides taking advantage of light traffic to go out on my mountain-bike, and meet with friends for Christmas Eve drinks, I never do anything for Christmas. Will see family at some point, and maybe spend time with my language partner if she has no plans.
Other than that, practice Chinese, try and read for my professional qualification and play SWTOR.
Note: the above is subject to change dependent on whether my dating leads to a relationship or just banging Asian women night and day. Either case, I'm sure I can fit in some SWTOR play - especially if you can romance other players' companions!
Heh.
P.s. Need to decide PvE or PvP server for my Jedi Consular. Depends on maturity of player-base.

ROFL (for real)
I have been thinking the exact same thing as soon as I read this thread topic when it was posted. I could never have put it as well as you did though.
Pagan, don't celebrate X-mas. I do however go out drinking on the midwinter night and that is the 22nd, release date here so if I like what I see in the open beta I start playing the 23rd.
I'll likely buy the game at some point just to play through the different class storylines, but it certainly won't be at release (games and their players seem to be at their worst during the initial rush). I'll definitely have to fit in some time around the holidays for all of the SWTOR sucks threads that pop up, though.
Get real this is a game which I will be enjoying at a leasurely pace with friends......
Christmas is for partying Family and Friends and remembering those that are not here anymore....... SWTOR is just a game and the sooner people realise this the better.
(We all have many many months to enjoy this , XMAS comes but once a year......)

My point is unless you're below the age of 21 Christmass has long lost it's attraction and having plans for Christmas means doing the same boring shit as last year (unless you're rich). Unfortunately many of us are too polite to cancel thier plans but in reality we'd all love to pick up the phone and tell friends X or relatives Y " I'm staying home alone and don't call me for another three months and tell everyone else to F*** OFF! ". I did that once and trust me it was worth it!
You forgot "bah humbug".
Personally this "44 year old" will be eating good food, drinking good wine and beer (in moderation) playing the guitar and singing all with friends and family, giving gifts to people I care about and relaxing in front of a fire after watching a few holiday favorites that I still enjoy after all these years. Then I will travel to other friends and visit and eat good food and catch up. THEN I will come back home and enjoy the few extra days off to do whatever I want. Probabably play a bit of SWToR as well as Skyrym.
But you enjoy yourself the way you like.

The ONLY plan that has changed, is that I now plan to be playing some SW:TOR during the holidays.
To be honest though, besides a couple of parties and dinner at my house, I don't really have any major plans this year.
We have a saying around here.
"Santa Claus is mighty poor this year."
Have a sense of humor, no need to get ALL MODDY ! A Simpson's quote shouldn't be worth a warning. You are lucky anyone is bothering to read this rag.

Not me. I will wait at least a month due to the way they seem to be handling the raid game.
If after a month this whole raiding is the only way to get the good stuff is the way it pans out then I won't buy at all.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.
Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.
