Do you think SWTOR will attract a lot of non MMORPG players?

It worked for me in helping me adjust.

I do have a feeling there will be a lot of hating on them.

I beleveive there will b a significant number of em.  But I don't think they'll last though honestly, if they're not MMOers and once they've done the content they will prolly hang it up I reckong.... that is if they make it to the end.  If your not an MMOer then why play an MMO?  Only reason in this case is the SW IP.   If your not into the MMO mechanics then this game is a waste of money, any MMO would be.  If anything they will be your RP community.

Also think it will have minimal impact on the community as I am betting it'll be overran by a community similar to WoW.  WoW is losing subs, it's old, and I reckon a good portion will be coming over to SWTOR cause it's the new hype MMO... and that is not neccessarily a good thing.

All of the bad reviews are written off as Bioware haters, which is one of the more foolish statements I have heard. I think TOR is an attempt to only go after the Star Wars fan base, mostly the younger Star Wars fan base. I also think their going to pay a price for doing so.

Not nearly as foolish as all of the good reviews being disregarded as paid endorsements by EA shills, which seems to be the general consensus amongst those that hope the game fails.  And your sweeping and inaccurate generalization about the age of Star Wars fans who will play this game aside, we'll know for sure how this game will hold up at the 6 month mark.  But I definitely think there are a lot of people underestimating its appeal.

No offense but I trust Beta Player reviews over website reviews any day. this very site gave WOTLK the highest review it EVER gave any game, and that expansion was horrible. Often here they review a game they dont like give it a low score, until they are proven wrong by sub numbers, like in EVE or Guild Wars and promptly re review the game, like they did with Dofus. So I dont trust any of these sites with an agenda whether it be MMORPG.com or Sandboxers its all meaningless to me until I get the word of mouth out of the actual players and beta testers, and most of the beta testers so far call this game a snoozefest. Remember it was word of mouth that made WOW popular, it wasnt the most popular game amongst game review sites at the time.

With out a doubt, the Star Wars name will bring in some non mmo'ers for sure. How many? who knows.

Definitely, though 'a lot' is tough to define.

I think about DCUO, I had friends buying that game that don't even play computer games, just because they associated with the IP.

Releasing in the winter when most college students are home and bored as hell? Their marketing heads put on their thinking hats.
