the game is dropping subbscriptions, that is what's this graph shows us...
I stopped reading there because it's vastly apparent that you ignored every fact that has been stated about these graphs just so you could perpetuate your own agenda.
Well if you wouldn't have stopped reading, maybe you would post more reasonable asnwer, because I can stop reading at any poing of anyone's text, and take any words out of context, and make any sense I like...
My answer was far more reasonable than his statement which consisted of him ignoring facts. Also, I will point out that you removed part of my post that showed the facts that he ignored.
That is actually what you did, you took my first couple of words out of 100... And you don't like that I did the same, that is wierd.
And on the part where your statements are more reasonable, to me statistics are more reasonable than your words. And I repeat, 50000 hours played is large enough portion of total hours played, to determine a general trend. This maybe due to the fact that people play game more at the release, but for game to grow in subscribtions, new people have to buy it, and it apears that more people are dropping game play than getting the game and starting it from zero and playing it all the time they have...
pardon for my poor english.
Again, hours played does not measure subscription numbers. A fact that I stated that you removed.
That certainly is not a fact, that is your opinion. Facts are:
Hours xfire users played dropped by 10000 in one week;
More servers acording to swtorarena are going light;
People are constantly complaining about the game;
And those are rocksolid facts.
I mean If it was only xfire...But these facts add up to one trend. I would agree with you, if the game was amazing, everyone was prasing it, all servers were going heavy at all times, and they were adding more servers constantly, and xfire charts were indicating hours played dropping, your words would have made much more sense. But taken into consideration real facts, that are listed well, it seems more like you are lying to yourself. I understand that there are people that love the game, and they should continue playing it and supporting, [Removed Flaming attempt]?
Please show me how you can come up with hours played = subscription. Oh, and I want solid computation and correlational data with solid proof to back it up. Untill then, I stand by my statement as factual.

Again, hours played does not measure subscription numbers. A fact that I stated that you removed.
The variable "hours played" is however correlated to variable "subscription numbers". Which is a natural consequence of the fact that those two variables are not independent.
That's irrelevant. Mainly because many people could be playing a TON of hours while some might not be playing much at all. Or, people could be playing average amounts during the time frame. As you stated, it's variable. Which means that you, nor anyone else knows how many hours each person is playing at any point in time as it's completely random. Thus, I stand by my factual statement, hours played does not measure subscription numbers.
"Hours played does not measure subscription numbers" is an extremely vague statement, so it would be hard for a person to deduce whether or not it is factually true. Do you mean " # hours played, does not give any information which can help us estimate the subscription numbers"? Do you mean " #subscriptions is not a function that only depends on # hours played"? What do you mean? Specify .
I mean that the changes in the number of hours played does not signify changes in the amount of people that are subscribed to the game.
I must say he has got a point, I have played for a lot of hours during the first couple of weeks, cause I had them off, my hours at the moment are at least down by 50% if not more, that doesnt really mean I have stopped playing. I dont even consider myself hardcore or anything, and I know that a lot of ppl are like this, they play a lot/take time off during the first weeks just to be there at headstart and then their play time is cut in more than half ( reminds me of WoW xpac releases where I usually take time off ).
So yeah he has got a point, I think its safe to assume lots of ppl take time off work to play extended hours at and near launch and then that numbers gets cut off by a lot. I also assume that someone that uses xfire is likely to be a more hardcore gamer than someone who doesnt ( I cant see anyone in my family that isnt computer savy but play WoW to install a random application they have no clue how it works they even sometimes ask me stuff about facebook ) which explain the sudden drop in hours played.
But the game is still new, and for the game to grow, new people have to start playing it, and the total hours played would balance out people who play at alot and then drop their time played, but not subscribtion? So we got atleast one fact that we all consider to be true, the game has hit it's peak. And now to determine is it stable, and subscribtions stay as they are, or they are dropping. Lets see facts, that say the game is stable at it's subscribtion number.
No your assumption is wrong, any hardcore players ( the target of xfire ) would already be there at launch, so you are mesuring the wrong crowd which xfire doesnt cater to, sure more ppl will join to balance out the hours but any hardcore players will play from the start, so is the nature of the beast that they will want to play at launch. I know ppl who want to buy when its cheaper they arent hardcore they are very very casual players that do not need or want anything to do with xfire.
Like I said even tho you might get the odd hardcore player who uses xfire starting afterwards, it will be a small blip on the map, the real bulk of the hardcore players have already played their bulk/time off work hours and why you get the 50% or more cut off in hours.
I can't agree with you on the fact that majority of hardcore gamers are buying the games only at launch, and i don't agree that xfire players are hardcore. Those are not facts, those are assumptions, same as mine, so lets dismiss the assumptions and once again stick to the facts...
Just cause you cant accept reality doesnt make my assumptions incorrect, Xfire clearly caters for gamers that play a lot of games and have a lot of hours to put into games, there is no other reason to use it, going around the forums I can see signatures and pretty much everyone has several thousand hours put into an MMO if that is not hardcore then I dont know what it is.
Regarding buying at release, if you do a simple search, you will find its a trend ppl complaining about buying MMOs at release cause that is the nature of ppl that frequent this website, ppl here are not casual gamers they want to play MMOs their MMO regardless of what it is, and they will pay for games as soon as it launch as is the nature of most ppl that play a type of game and are considered hardcore. While ppl I know who are not gamers and play WoW for instance dont care about release dates, they dont want to play anything else with MMORPG tag unless is WoW such is life.
So my assumptions have a quite clear foundation, but if you say stick with facts then lets do it.
FACT: SWTOR xfire users have played less hours daily.
Ok nothing else that we can use as fact sadly.
EDIT: I see you sneakily added some stuff
"I bet when they start merging servers, you are going to say, that it's not subscribtion drop, it's people who played the game grew up a little, and have families, so they play less, hence servers are less loaded, when EA issues real subs numbers, and they are dropping you are going to say, well all those people dropped subscribtions right after the report, since, it was new content patch on the horrison, so they decided to wait till the patch, when the game goes f2p or shuts down to couple of servers you would say, hey it's just hollydays soon, everyone is spending the time with friends, so they all stopped playing at the same time, but soon they will come back, and even if EA shuts down the game completely, you would say it was conspiracy, and it's all blizzard harckers and payed off haters."
Again grasping at straws, trying to use some arbitrary future event that only you have foreseen about me to justify your extrapolated assumptions that have no basis whatsoever.
Again in your own words stick with facts only.

Again your own assumptions, people complaint even more about WoW and its still the most successfull MMO in the world, so no.
I have no idea what SWTORarena works or how they get their data, so if you can prove that their data is reliable then sure, but even then a larger percentage of players are at any time on a server at launch than afterwards its probably around 10% at any one point from then on, or are you still one of those conspiracy theorist from here that think that blizzard cant have 10.5mil subs because servers can only hold 3.5 to 5k players at any one time?
So my assumptions have a quite clear foundation, but if you say stick with facts then lets do it. FACT: SWTOR xfire users have played less hours daily. Ok nothing else that we can use as fact sadly.
Throw in 2 more facts:
people are complaining as much as they did at other failed mmo launches
more servers are going light (swtorarena)
Since we're talking facts here, let's add some more:
- people have been complaining a LOT about WoW the past years and a lot about Aion, yet WoW maintained a 10+ million subs while complaints were abundant, and Aion made 200+ million dollar revenues in 2010 and 2011.
- Xfire players played TOR 7-9 hours daily average the first weeks, against 4.5-6 hours daily average now.
- Currently, the Xfire player numbers are around the player numbers they were in the first week after launch (9-10k)
- server status changed with the raising of player caps, player numbers that registered as full the first 1-2 weeks, now only register as standard to very heavy. Status change was also happening the first weeks of this month, with a number of servers showing 'heavy' now with higher player numbers where before they showed 'very heavy' with less player numbers. As the chart creators have repeatedly and strongly stated, their graphs are no indication of player numbers and this is one reason: their charts are based on the server status, 'standard', 'heavy' etc, but if the meaning of that status has changed over the weeks and isn't the same for all servers, then it can't show player numbers or trends, as the chart creators themselves are very much aware of and have stated multiple times.
I think that there has been some retention loss after the first month, as all MMO's suffer after the first month, it never happens that 100% of all people that buy an MMORPG also will sub to that MMO. However, that retention loss is so far nowhere near as dramatic as BW/TOR haters and critics want to make it to be.
I must say he has got a point, I have played for a lot of hours during the first couple of weeks, cause I had them off, my hours at the moment are at least down by 50% if not more, that doesnt really mean I have stopped playing. more servers are going light (swtorarena) Already been shown that swtorarena measures the server load, which Bioware has stated that they have allowed more people per server. Thus, more allowed people = less full servers.

More servers acording to swtorarena are going light; Already been shown that swtorarena measures the server load, which Bioware has stated that they have allowed more people per server. Thus, more allowed people = less full servers.
People are constantly complaining about the game; Vocal minority.
The servers I play continue as packed as ever and the game is already in its second month, so whos there is already paying monthly fee.
Clearly the haters failed their prediction and the game continues as strong as ever
Where to start here...
IF the game is failing it won't fail in a single month. Warhammer lasted 3 months and I'd expect at least the same here. The casuals are just now hitting 50 so quite a few will be bored by the next sub date. The key subscriber marks will be 3 and 6 months, so keep on watching.
When a MMO fails some servers will become overpopulated while others become ghost towns. The most overpopulated at launch are usually the servers that become the last bastion. As people realize their server is going down and the game developers lack of transfer plans, they will re-roll to the most populated server. It will snowball and those last servers will actually have queues! I believe that RIFT has had this problem as of late and it was certainly true in WAR.
Personally? I think we've already seen the lead engine hit in this train wreck and the rest is just watching the train cars follow suit. Bioware actually dodged a bullet with D3 getting delayed and GW2 coming out in May(guess!). If there was a major alternative to SWTOR the loss of subscribers would be far worse. They are still going to lose the subs but not nearly as fast.

Already seen the end huh? It's doomed already? Seen all the people diving for the lifeboats have we?
Anyone out there still playing this game besides me then? Cause I see new people joining weekly on my server, not leaving in mass. Maybe its happening on someone elses server? And no, I'm not asking this question of all of you people who do not even play the game anymore. You're not there to see so your 'opinion' isn't needed on reply. lol. Because logging into a server gives you special and factual insight on subscription numbers.
I think I'm gonna go with my super scientific analysis and say TOR is tanking because every single message board, including the main swtor forums, has this game getting ripped apart. I've never seen such bad word of mouth for a game that's supposedly doing great.

I'm still waiting for someone to answer my request in this very same thread.
I just love this debate, it shows just how silly and in denial some people are. With that said.
I have been using xfire as a means to measure the health on an MMO in the NA and EU markets since the time of AC2. Since that time not one MMO has performed any differently - health wise - compared to what xfire was showing us. Not one - ever. If one has - point it out. Show us an MMO that has performed differently than what xfire has shown us - just one.
If you can post just one - I'll never post on an xfire thread or bring it up on these boards ever again. ^_^

Personally, I think that Xfire can indicate general trends within a game. It's no use to compare numbers of 1 game to another, for obvious reasons, but for trends it can be a rough indication, provided that some things are kept in mind: player hours is bad to use, for the simple reason that player hours vary too much. Player numbers is more reliable.
For example: the number of Xfire TOR players last Friday was roughly about the same as the number of TOR players in Xfire the Friday 4 weeks ago. However, the number of hours last Friday was 40k total, against 70k the Friday 4 weeks ago.
Another thing to keep in mind: the total number of Xfire users has decreased over the years, leading to a downward trend in the played hours in practically all games in Xfire. Where for example 10-11 million WoW players equaled 450k Xfire hours a couple of years ago, now you'll see numbers of 100k. Or where a few years ago, 300k EVE subs equaled 4.5k Xfire users, now 300-350k Eve subs equal 1.2k Xfire users.
Ignore such influences, and Xfire loses even the limited value that it can offer for analysis. I don't know if this is the example that you were looking for, but if people had purely looked at the Xfire figures of those games, they would have thought that both WoW and EVE had suffered a major loss, with WoW only 25% of its player base left and EVE, instead of growth, having suffered 70% loss of its players. No need to tell that such conclusions using Xfire are that much off base that they become meaningless.
And here's another one:

He states the number of xfire users has decreased over the years and that somehow changes the accuracy of what we see on xifre as if this would change the way a game is performing on xfire. Xfire has been accurate in showing the health of an MMO. Again show me one MMO that has performed differently than what we see on xfire.
WoW did lose players and xfire shows it. EVE lost players after last years BS from CCP. xfire showed it. So until someone can definitively show an MMO that has performed differently than what xfire is projecting. I'll continue to use it as a means to know how healthy subscription wise an MMO is.

So then it wasn't that xfire was faulty itself - but that it not longer allowed the game to be tracked on xfire. So that isn't going to work here now is it. If a game is not tracked on xfire due to something in the game - the point is moot. Farmville isn't tracked on xfire - should we then say see xfire doesn't show how well Farmville is doing. That is just foolish.

Hmm actually all he said is that it wasnt acurate anymore which is exactly what you wanted.
You were given proof that Xfire was not accurate on the numbers for an MMO and if i am not totally wrong now most ppls against the Xfire numbers claimed its not accurate which you denied but here is the proof that it was wrong at least once already so guess we will see now if you will stay by your words or if you try to twist it around long enough to get out of the promise....
@Teala: See? Told you. That was exactly the way I expected you to react, squirming away from the examples given -_-
So, let me ask you once again and let's pinpoint: if we can give examples where the Xfire figures are not representative for a game's health, like subs are going up but Xfire isn't showing it, or subs and player activity is the same but Xfire doesn't show it instead Xfire numbers are going up or down, then that's the example you're looking for?
For the record, I don't believe one inch that you'll honor this so called promise of yours, my bet is that you'll squirm away from the promise and keep adding exclusions, like you're doing now, saying that 'oh, but if Xfire isn't showing the STO figures properly bc of various clients, then that doesn't count'. Thing is, he didn't say the figures weren't shown AT ALL, like that Farmville example you gave, he said that the figure wasn't accurate anymore because it showed a drop off, not a complete disappearance, of player numbers and hours. A drop off that wasn't happening in reality.

How can you measure something if it is not even represented on xfire? Sorry that isn't going to fly. Nice try though and continue to belive that.

You take a game that cannot be measured on xfire and use it as a means to argue your point. Right. No I will not honor this. I am not squirming my way out of anything. If anything you are trying to take a game that cannot be measured on xfire and pointing to it and going see! LMAO!

STO was still represented in Xfire and still had figures that it tracked, only not accurately, which was what you were talking about. Nice squirming though. Besides that, you haven't answered my question. Since you're the one making a promise/bet on a request that you keep changing as soon as people give you examples, maybe you should tell exactly the conditions and requirements of your request, or just back off and admit defeat, namely that there really are examples where it's blatantly obvious that Xfire is wrong in those cases.
NB: I don't even really care whether you'll keep using Xfire and posting about it or not - I mean, I myself find it handy for overall trends - but you were the one making a point out of it and a bet, foolishly taunting other posters, out of sheer ignorance of situations where Xfire was/is known to be not in sync with reality and the actual situation.

He clearly stated it droped by 90% that means there still must have been some numbers just not accurate ones its not even a matter of opinion here its clearly what you asked for without a doubt.
I personally couldnt care less if you keep posting stuff or not most of your posts are quiet entertaining so w/e
However the way you try to bend the fact here now is just lame and i wonder why you would even post something if you never intended to honor your words.

Please show me how you can come up with hours played = subscription. Oh, and I want solid computation and correlational data with solid proof to back it up. Untill then, I stand by my statement as factual.
I mean that the changes in the number of hours played does not signify changes in the amount of people that are subscribed to the game.
FACT: SWTOR xfire users have started playing less hours daily.
Those aren't facts... those are purely wishful thinking scenarios on your part.
Throw in 2 more facts:
people are complaining as much as they did at other failed mmo launches
more servers are going light (swtorarena)
Hours xfire users played dropped by 10000 in one week;
More servers acording to swtorarena are going light;
People are constantly complaining about the game;
those are not facts?
Again your own assumptions, people complaint even more about WoW and its still the most successfull MMO in the world, so no.
I have no idea what SWTORarena works or how they get their data, so if you can prove that their data is reliable then sure, but even then a larger percentage of players are at any time on a server at launch than afterwards its probably around 10% at any one point from then on, or are you still one of those conspiracy theorist from here that think that blizzard cant have 10.5mil subs because servers can only hold 3.5 to 5k players at any one time?
I rest my case.
Throw in 2 more facts:
people are complaining as much as they did at other failed mmo launches
more servers are going light (swtorarena)
I think that there has been some retention loss after the first month, as all MMO's suffer after the first month, it never happens that 100% of all people that buy an MMORPG also will sub to that MMO. However, that retention loss is so far nowhere near as dramatic as BW/TOR haters and critics want to make it to be.
The servers I play continue as packed as ever and the game is already in its second month, so whos there is already paying monthly fee.
Clearly the haters failed their prediction and the game continues as strong as ever
Those weren't in your prior post.
Also, they're skewed. Rebuttals are in red.

Bioware actually dodged a bullet with D3 getting delayed and GW2 coming out in May(guess!). If there was a major alternative to SWTOR the loss of subscribers would be far worse. They are still going to lose the subs but not nearly as fast.

OMG GUYS, don't let this opportunity go.
Go go go!
You take a game that cannot be measured on xfire and use it as a means to argue your point. Right. No I will not honor this. I am not squirming my way out of anything. If anything you are trying to take a game that cannot be measured on xfire and pointing to it and going see! LMAO!
How can you measure something if it is not even represented on xfire? Sorry that isn't going to fly. Nice try though and continue to belive that.
