Huh, the EU gets a "mini" (Paid beta access?) version and 37 days access for full retail. White NA gets no beta access with pre-order and 30 day game time with purchase?

Yeah I understand/saw that and have been signed up for beta before they made the new website and just signed up again when they got the new site...

But why do the EU pre-orders "include beta access" and also include  "37 Days of gametime"

When the NA mention neither? I know the servers are controlled/run by different companys but ...

    Uhm..

"Players who pre-order TERA will gain access to all five closed beta tests and be allowed to retain their characters and their progress for the duration of the closed beta period."

  • mikunimanmikuniman Member UncommonPosts: 375

We're proud to announce that TERA is now available for pre-order on the En Masse Entertainment store! Pre-ordering will grant access to all of TERA's five closed beta tests and allow players to retain their characters and their progress for the duration of the closed beta period from February to April. Interested in learning more about the beta tests? Check out TERA'sbeta test schedule!

Wow, saving characters and levels in the closed beta stages that's different and a big plus for all your hard beta work. Wish more betas were like this.  Nice work Tera!

That's exactly how I feel, getting bored of MMO's being nearly all the same underneath, the combat system in Tera is really what's making me interested in it, the political system looks interesting too.

    Pre-ordered it!!!

EnMasse might be pushing forward with the release despite the lawsuit for a couple of reasons. First, I don't think the lawsuit is against them. It is against the developer Bluehole. EnMasse has already bought rights to run the game here in NA so I am sure they just want to get it out there, even if it turns out that the developer goes under and there are no further updates.

Second NCSoft might want to shut the game down but even if they win the suit that might not be what the courts do the reward them. The court may find that shutting it down unnecessarily harms distributors like EnMasse and Frogster and also needlessly screws end customers. I kind of doubt that that NCSoft could successfully convince a court to shut the game down at this stage. A year or more ago maybe but not as it is being released. Courts don't take kindly to business that sit on a lawsuit until a  strategic point in time. If you have a complaint then you need to move forward on it in a timely manner or have a good excuse for the delay. Failure to enforce your copy or trademark rights in a timely manner once you become aware of the infringment can often result in loosing them.

Besides, NCSoft might not be gunning to shut it all down anyway. They would, after all, come across as the bad guys to a huge chunk of MMO gamers who happen to like Asian styled games. And that is exactly NCSoft's target demographic in NA.

More likely If NCSoft wins the suit Bluehole will end up owing them a percentage of the profits or at worse Bluehole will become owned by NCSoft who will simple have to take over the obligations that Bluehole laid out with distributors like EnMasse and Frogster. So I wouldn't worry at all about the game being shutdown before release.

    All die, so die well.

Oh wow. Seems like there'll be 2 new AAA MMO's that will arrive around the same time, TERA and The Secret World.

Heh, funny. If you think that TERA will be that much different from other themepark MMO's that you people seem to dislike, I'd suggest to do some more research. The key defining feature that really is different is the more action oriented combat system, all the rest is themepark as has been done for years now. Political system is a nice-on-paper system, but that's it so far. So if the different combat mechanics is enough to make you people forget all the rest that still is the same old and business as usual, then go for it. If that's not enough to wash away the WoWesque themepark taste, then I foresee disappointments for some after playing it for a few weeks.

Hmm maybe I should post my question here instead.

Do you guys know if I preorder through somewhere like amazon, will I still get access to all the beta tests? Or is it only through enmasse that I get that?

My reasoning is that if I can preorder through amazon and I don't end up liking the game or feel the price is justified, I can just cancel my preorder and not pay a dime. I think with enmasse they will charge you right away upfront... someone correct me If I'm wrong on that.

I know with SWTOR, they would email you a key that you would input into your account so you could get access to the beta... I'm thinking tera might similar to this.

I really want to try this game, but with it being subscription based and GW2 on the horizon, I'm going to have to give it a pass.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

If not for the region lock I would have pre-order immediately.

Now I need to wait and see which server I can play on and decide.

Sad, after waiting for so long ...

EU also gets to pay $80 for the standard version (30 dollars more than US) and $95 for the digital collectors edition (35 dollars more than US) because they think that pounds convert directly into US dollars.

Only Britan uses pounds. But even with the Euro the exchange rate is certainly not 1:1

Na's launch starts on the 1st of May and the Eu launch starts on the 3rd of May,  The 7 extra days is a way to make up for the difference in launch days.
