people feel its just a "preview" of the game.. happens every stress test for every game.
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

I feel that pr wise it is indeed a preview but testing wise it is, but we'll, a stress test. There is a disconnect there. Like I've said, I'm not personally taken aback, but I see where the doom and gloom is coming from. The "stress test" label doesn't change people.

It's been a long time now since Betas were actually done solely for beta testing. Can't fault the players when the industry decided to change the rules years ago.

I guess so.. but like heartless said earlier BWE's for the most part have been pretty flawless so to judge the game based on these stress tests seem silly to me

People are just worried bacause it launches in 3 days, I guess.

True. But I don't think people are honestly complaining about the game, just about the stress test.
Im amazed. ANet have been doing so well so far, but this stress test is the buggiest by far.
The problems I have experienced that WERENT there on previous tests are:
1) leap/movement abilites all bugged. Eviscerate causes all players/mobs/npcs to disappear until you move then they reappear, savage leap causes instant death. Other movement abilites such as the ranger sword 2(cant remember name) teleport you all over the map
2) no indicator for party members on map, even when you are standing next to one another.
3) groups are no longer kept together when going to overflow servers
4) wierd bugs in WvW where you get killed on teleporting into the zone by random NPC invaders, but if you move they disappear
5) Email authentication bug. System keeps asking you to authenticate you email even after you have already done so
6) Forums and account page down
Come on ANet, get it together. The previous stress tests were flawless! I blame the Spanish (Spanish localisation was introduced for this test)
Yeah that's really odd. Never had experienced any issues with GW2 before. Can't even log in since I crashed now.

The thing is though that ArenaNet is actually using these betas as real betas should be used. That's why the stress tests are only open to the people who have pre-purchased the game, while the BWEs were more marketing with betakey giveaways on various sites.
I know people are worried a bit, I am too. But I also know that virtually every GW2 stress test had issues, while most BWEs were pretty smooth. Hell, the first BWE was much smoother than most games are at launch.

Yep. Definitely seem to be testing more during these "stress tests" than BWEs.
Don't worry people. Launch will be fine. They're intentionally causing these crashes.
Originally posted by heartless It's a stress test, not a stable client version. Relax, it'll be fine. We go through this same shit leterally after every stress test. LMAO see my previous post. I love these recycled arguments that were not true the first time they were used and are still not true to this day.
Im about as big a GW2 fanboy as you can get, however, what I am pointing out is that all these bugs that are present in the current version they are using for this stress test 3 days before launch were not in any of the previous BWEs or stress tests. All of the previous BWEs and stress tests have been flawless as far as I am concerned - I have not experienced a single bug in GW2....... up until this stress test. Thats why it was so surprising, and a little bit worrying to see such a plethora of bugs that never existed before, just 3 days before launch.

"We will be actively working on the game during the event, so you might experience connectivity problems or discover features that are not working as designed.
Any issues you experience are a result of the rigorous conditions of the stress test, and are in no way representative of the state of the game at launch."
I am a pessimist but was really expecting the stress tests to get better and better. What really concerns me is why are they having a stress test just 5 DAYS before release? The production code should have been locked down a week ago minimum and this week should have been the server wipe and re-install. I pre-ordered and so I will play whenever it is released but I have a real bad feeling that GW2 will NOT release on time (certainly not on 8/25).
Lots of little feature that had been held back in previous stress tests were dumped into this build to get ready togo live(I saw no notes stating this but if anyone looked around for 2 seconds it was blatently apparent). Which is why Im sure we had the stress test today so they could iron out these glitches before saturday, I'm sure we will see another build and possible stress test pre Saturday.

Yes, but notice they do not say that they will launch on schedule....

Maybe a guess but perhaps they are testing the lowest threshold needed to prohibit player logins.
