If anyone is interested in getting an Xbox One, see this first.

Yes, that is the official Xbox Support Tweeter account saying 'if you get your Xbox account banned, you lose access to all of your games.'.

MS has banned people before for having the word 'tits' in your Xbox profile.

Well you shouldn't be using those words in your profile anyway. Perhaps Microsoft really is cleaning out the immature in their community after all. Don't see how that is a bad thing.

No way. That's it in a nutshell for me.

    1. Ownership removed from the the buyer. What other items that you buy come with that kind of restriction?

    2. Hook-up to the Internet. Shouldn't be a big deal right? Well if your power is on but you IS is down, that One won't work.

    3. I had lol at the community comment. A five minute listen to almost any CoD room will prove that wrong.

    4. Almost no one is mentioning what I feel is the worst, and possibly most frightenting aspect of the Xbox One. Kinect. It has to be hooked to the unit for the console to function. This is essentially a camera pointed into your living room that MS will have access to at any time. Hello big brother.

I would hope that the vast majority would vote against these policies with their wallets by not purchasing this product. If this thing sells widely, future consoles will follow in their footsteps. MS has chosen develepors and investors over players and customers. Make sure they know how big a mistake this is by witholding your dollars from them.

32 here and I will be getting a ps4. I don't need the cablebox shit cause I already have a smart tv and google tv attached. Didn't see any games I couldn't live with out, and the Mmo's I want to play, namely FF 14 and eqnext will be in ps4. Also... I just don't  like the way hat Microsoft is going.

Times sure have changed. I'm 24 and there is a highly unlikely chance that I will get either of these two systems. I remember when PC gaming was for the 'hardcore' folks. I don't see the point in buying a console that works like an entertainment system, when I could just upgrade my computer. You could build a gaming rig today for under 2k and it'll be twice as fast as the next-gen consoles.

PlayStation and Super Nintendo are still my favorite consoles.

I didn't think of this when I have been debating with people whether this Microsoft XBox One 24 hour account check-in was a deal breaker for me. So if you don't have access to your account your games turn into expensive doorstops?

Do you understand what ownership means? everything you buy comes with restrictions on usage thats the nature of ownership, if you have something like say the BSD software license then you don't own anything and allow others to do what they will with your work, this is what most gamers think they have which isn't true you cannot do loads of things with your games and one is lending the game to someone else. Read the copyright/Eula license that comes with games.

Ownership is not as straight forward as many seem to think.

    Ownership: definition

The ultimate and exclusive right conferred by a lawful claim or title, and subject to certain restrictions to enjoy, occupy, possess, rent, sell, use, give away, or even destroy an item of property.

Ownership may be corporeal (title to a tangible object such as a house) or incorporeal (title to an intangible object, such as a copyright, or a right to recover debt). Possession (as in tenancy) does not necessarily mean ownership because it does not automatically transfer title.

    2. It is more than just games. Maybe because I'm in my 40's now I look at things a little bit different but having a console at home that gives you more than just games is very appealing to me and perhaps to the older gamer as well. We just don't like games, we also like sports and tv. To have that all in one box is quite nice.

    I pretty much agree.

I also find it funny that it is getting so much hate, and after the first reveal it was being mocked as TV TV TV TV etc no games, and come E3 they have over twice as many exclusives the PS4

Sony took out a patent at the start of the year to block used games, where the games get tied to your account, and so far they have provided no information on how they are allowing publishers to handle things, but from what I have read it seems that it will be just like PC - you are the only user and can not share with even one other person or trade the game in. Whereas Xbox One allows up to ten "friends" to share the game, and you can trade the games in at participating retailers

Sony have stated that the PS4 will be able to play used games, but it seems that they are not giving the full information, and that it will be the publishers who will put DRM on the games and not Sony.

On top of that Sony have also got a patent that stops your game and display an advert.

I can see why people will not want to get a Xbox ONE, but I do not see why people will automatically jump to PS4, when things are not finalised yet, and PS4 could end up being worse than Xbox ONE. The good thing though is that if not enough people preorder the Xbox ONE then MS may even remove all the restrictions completely and do whatever necessary to turn things around - MS are usually pretty good at fixing things - The original Xbox was sold at a loss, and the Xbox 360 RROD was fixed Free of charge.

I will probably not get either console at launch, as it is best to wait - later console versions are usually better designed, least likely to break down, and have more games. Right now PS4 has nothing for it that interests me, and the DRM is all up in the air - for both Sony and Microsoft.

Some of them are a tad obvious, either that or their so far in denial its unreal.

The question really after E3 isnt whether to choose between an Xbox 1 and a PS4, its really more about whether you choose to go PC gaming and/or have a PS4, with the latest gaffe from Microsoft about half of the EU not even being able to use an Xbox 1 anyway due to the xbox live thing not even working in their countries - ie, even if you import it from somewhere else it still won't work... Microsoft it seems just keep digging themselves a deeper hole, i guess they must really hate Sony though, as Japan is region locked outside of the Xbox 1 authorised countries, guess they really don't want the Japanese to have an Xbox 1, or the Polish, or, a bunch of other as in about at least another 18 or so EU countries, seriously, have Microsoft totally lost the plot? image

i really hope CD Projekt Red cancels The Witcher 3 on xbox and make it PC and PS4 (or at least they charge microsoft more for having the game on their console). Their own country and native fans wont be able to play their own game on xbox and yet they announce it on that crapbox at e3? damn..... Micrapsoft just slapped one of the best rpg companies in the face (and all those fans got the sore cheek too)

It is coming to PC and PS4 too. The PC version is affected by a save from Witcher 2, consoles do not have this, and PS4 is said to have something else as Witcher 2 was not released on PS3

It seems that people are in denial about PS4s DRM, and it should be choosing to go PC gaming and/or have a Wii U - Nintendo are not touching DRM at all, as they are not worried about used game sales

yeah i got Witcher 1 and 2 on PC and will get 3 on PC too. But it really sux that they are making a game for a console that wont be sold in their country. I would have scratched the xbox version and made pc and ps4 versions even better with the extra resources :p

correction "a console that wont be sold in their country at launch"

AT least Microsoft have it organised. Sony always mess it up and then left disappointed by getting the supply wrong, even now they are worried about not getting enough supplied. The PS3 was delayed to launch in Europe on March 2007 instead of Nov/Dec 2006 as it did not have enough parts for the Blu Ray Drive. Also if I recall when it did launch in the UK, it had supply problems, as they diverted stock to other countries, but was not a problem in the end as not many people wanted it

What is better? Preordering and not getting one when should have done, or preordering and getting one.

I think you've more than earned your Microsoft paycheck dude as you're already grasping at ever thinner straws to try and prove a point.

DRM on PS4 = likely gonna restrict used games to SP content only, MP requiring a unused key (would make sense if it were up to sony, if not then it would be smart for the devs in question).

Supply of PS4= no one gives a shit because even if someone has to wait for a PS4 it is still better than the alternative (Xbox1 spycam, severely restricted functionality and with the PS4's better showing at E3 I think a draught of games after the initial burst as I doubt devs will be lining up to put their games exclusively on such a controversial machine) and this is if they have the option to buy/pre-order the Xbox 1 which for 175 countries on the globe is not possible, add to this the always on bullcrap and that number won't really go down below a certain treshold.

With the information of Microsofts intended use of its cloud service I'm even more certain I won't be picking up an Xbox One. Developers have the option of hosting a portion of the game on dedicated servers to "enhance" games, even single player games. They are pushing hard for players to always be online. Now what this means of course is... that if your internet goes out or you decide to play offline for what ever reason your games lose quality and other stuff. The talked about a shooter that was going to have all of its foliage stored on a dedicated server... without being online while playing the single player campaign the game will have no foliage...

Your internet connection is going to have to always be on for a large number of games including single player games and such with the Xbox One.

If my single player games are going to have a downgraded world because my internet went out or got slow for a bit for some reason... I'm not going to be a happy camper at all.

Microsoft only problem was not going in detail about what they are trying to do with the Xbox One and why you as a consumer will want these new features.. I am looking for a new experience so the Xbox One has my full attention. PS4 is just what people like to say about mmos, its the same old same old and that's not what I want I am looking for now.  Not saying its bad but its just not for me. I don't care for Sony exclusives like God Of War, Grand Turismo and Uncharted. I also don't care for Japaness games because they all have 5 hours of gameplay with 10 hours of cut scenes. I want something new and different and will support the development of it the same way people do for mmos that they belive in. Things like the online check and lending games can be changed easily because its not hardware. There is no beta test so I am sure they are now taking in feedback. Like Microsoft said this is not a sprint. We looking at a 10 year investment so who knows how this is going to play. A lot of things are going to change in the years and even before these systems release a lot of things will change. One thing I can say for sure is that this looks to be the most interesting console gen I have seen.

They don't take feedback and they won't change the online check or lending games (pretty much stated) so yeah...have fun with the new experience.

I totally understand and do not fault anyone who does not like Microsoft's new policies on the Xbox One. Three reasons why I'll be getting a Xbox One.

    1. The games. The games were just so much better than what Sony had to offer. Everyone was complaining after Microsoft's first Xbox One's reveal about how there was no focus on games. Totally understand and a very viable gripe but at E3 they clearly had the game advantage and games are what matters most to players. They had Ryse which looked very very good and TitanFall which was amazing. Those Titan mechs were awesome to watch in action. You also had Quantum Break which clearly is going to be open of the most innovative titles this next-gen. Sony maybe more policy friendly towards gamers but games are what matter the most.

People are so misinformed on the lending games. You can give anybody access to your entire game library anywhere over xbox live. No disc is required and you don't have to pay.

On the 24 hour online check it is for protection. This is server based gaming so how else do you protect it? How do you stop a person from changing the Xbox One to a hack machine and connecting to Xbox Live Servers? Look at what happened to Sony and its only going to get worse.

I'll gladly get an XBox One...if you're buying. Until then no thanks, don't need HAL9000 watching my every move, the government already does that.

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

No game exchange made me lose all interest in the new xbox.  Most of the good games for the xbox also come out on PC so I wont be missing much.

I'm over 40 and already have a PC connected to my TV for storage of movies and playing games on a large screen.  I dont need Microsofts locked down, full of restrictions, crap box to do basic stuff on my TV.

I will not be purchasing an Xbox, it's just too expensive for an all-in-one box.

I will not consider replacing what stand alone devices I already own just to own yet another console thats supposedly going to be the media centre of my home (How many times have we heard this from Microsoft?)

I know they have exclusive games coming to the Xbox, so does PS4 and I'm sure that over their respective lifetimes the number of excusives will equal out, so I won't be missing out.

My decision to purchase a PS4 is based on 2 things, firstly I want to play the MMO's they announced will come to the PS4 (fingers crossed it will include EQN) and secondly my 2 grown-up sons will also be buying the PS4 and we will connect and play together.
