Lol, yep.  I see Hrotha's identical thread on the TESO forum got closed, thank god.  Hopefully here too.

Over the last 15 years I have played many an mmorpg hosted in the US and had no detrimental effects whatsoever.  It might have mattered in the mid 80's when I was using a 300 baud modem, but not these days when superfast broadband is so common.  This thread is much ado about nothing and needs to be closed down.

    :DDDDDD

Seriously? Even WoW had EU servers 10 years ago. I can't speak of EverQuest, maybe it wasn't popular in Europe. I never heard of it until WoW came out and by then it looked like a game done few 10s of years before WoW. But before that I played Diablo 1 and 2 and their expansions in Battle.Net EU region. So really, I'm very curious, which MMOs in the past 15 years haven't had EU datacenter? Every self-respecting game company should provide the best possible experience to the players its charging each month. Even the freaking EA Games, which was voted the worst company in the world (a statement i disagree with but whatever) has multiple EU datacenters. SoE are smart, they gave license to EU companies to handle their EQ:Next EU. Think its Germany's ProSieben that will take care of the EU players. NCSoft usually go to GameForge and Innova. Many korean devs go to Mail.ru and Innova.

So, again, enough white knighting of a P2P game that will go F2P in an year.

Umm Zenimax has had years to get their EU data center ready, its not like they can say their own launch caught them by surprise.

Blizzard, SoE, Trion, NcSoft etc... all of them launched their AAA titles with US and EU servers.

Again I understand that crap happens, but having a major AAA title launch without local servers in EU..... again it's hard to excuse that.

That is actually a lie.  EU didn't get WoW until Feburary, US got wow in November.  I was just pointing out, you could not be able to play it at all.  Look at Archeage, it's been out in Korea since Jan 2013, and it's still not in EU or US.  I'd rather play it in Korean and have lag than have to wait for over a year.

SWG, SOE's best MMO launched in US first in June 2003, then November 2003 for EU.  Rift was launched in the US 10 days earlier than EU as well. Aion (NCsoft) also didn't launch all at the same date either...

The Secret World. It gets extra points for being made by a Norwegian company.

Every game that I have played has released at the same time in US and EU with only few days apart at maximum if any. I really have no idea what these "other" games are you are talking about.

Okies Zeni “sometime after launch” Max

I had high hopes that they fix bugs and whatever there was broken in the last beta and give them few months after the launch and then i would join the game.

Now its better to give them time and watch if they even trust their own product.

See you Zeni “sometime after launch” Max ,when you arrive to EU.

So, did ESO have a successful launch? Yes, yes it did.By Ryan Getchell on April 02, 2014.

I am literally out of words if this is the case.

    Okay there we go: forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1494562-game-launches-with-eu-server-located-in-us/

This was officially the last Bethesda game I have ever and will ever purchase. I am so done with this bullsh*t.

Anyone who works in IT knows exactly why they're doing this and why you should be glad they're doing it this way. It will increase your uptime immensely until they work out the initial kinks in the launch.

Trying to coordinate with an datacenter halfway across the world is no bueno while your trying to push out emergency fixes and patches... and that's to say nothing of trying to mitigate the headaches of ironing out the kinks in two entirely brand new (and separate) networks.

Lucky for me that I dont play Japanese games then? Also, I was under the impression that Arche Age is releasing in US and EU at the same time, is this not the case anymore?

Network Engineering : so please don't tell me it is a nightmare to update 2 ( muhaha only 2 ) Server parks across the globe .

It's all about money . If initial launch numbers fail , you will NEVER see a EU server :)

Guys, its getting rediculous.I can´t understand the problems or how the company is supposed to do so that everyone is satisfied.

Imagine we have an EU Server in Germany and an US Server somewhere in the US. There will be problems at the start, no one can be that naive to believe there won´t. So now they have two Servers in two different locations thousands of miles away to handle. First thing they do is, maybe fix the US Server first, people from US can play, while people from EU are grumpy cause everyone and everything is so damn unfair.

Actual situation: they have both servers in their region, so if there are any problems with the US server, they can fix it there and fix the same problem on the EU server immediately and vice versa. So when the US server is stable enough, the EU server will be stable enough. Now they can move to Germany taking the server with them and we are all happy. That´s just good decision making. It´s about managing 1 - 2 million people logging in on a server maybe at one time. So that isn´t everyday business, so be a bit patient, even though you pay for it. They deserve a chance, we will see how it works, but please judge later.

I´m from EU, i had no lags whatsoever. And i prefer playing instead of waiting till the server moves to EU. Playing with a latency between 0 - 250 was never a problem for me. In FFARR i had a latency of 500 - 700 and it was playable. Stress tests were okay, there were some lags but hey, it was a STRESS Test. So referring to Matt Firor there will be no lags whatsoever for EU players. There´s no point why i shouldn´t trust this statement from this point.

So i´m looking forward to play the game on sunday.

Sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes, Austria isn´t really that place where you learn English properly, but i´m working on it :)

    Cheers.

And guys, there are so many important things in life. Complaining about the EU server standing in the US for a couple of weeks, isn´t worth complaining.

Guys, do cut the crap. You keep mentioning WoW and Aion and all other games with no initial EU launch and that's the thing. Those games WERE NOT LAUNCHED in Europe. WoW was not in stores, nada. Aion wasn't in stores. You couldn't get any of those games, maybe if you were in the UK you would, but otherwise not.

I can purchase an "EU copy" of the game in the next 5 minutes with no real trouble if I only swipe my credit card on their POS terminal. And don't forget that Blizzard pulled that stunt 10 years ago when 1 mbps download speed was a thing.

There is simply NO excuse to pull such stunts today, not with all those F2P MMOs having EU servers at their freaking launch.

Sure killing mobs with half a second delay on a static mmo like FFXIV may be okay, but competitive play is whole another beast.

Is this 2014 , cause we totally thought its 2015 ?

What's your problem? There ARE two servers - US and EU. At the start of release EU server will be in US, because that way it will be easier for them to access it and fix any major problems if there will be. A bit later on after the release they will seamlessly transition the server to the EU. It's already in place and almost ready. Transition won't cause any trouble for players, it will happen smoothly with no downtime, maybe a couple of minutes.

You won't have lag WHATSOEVER. IF you even want you can always keep playing in US. ALL betas were in US. And people from EU had no lag whatsoever, no game disadvantage to US players.

Why are you being so butthurt with your "I am out of words if this is the case"?

People these days will find any reason to get "upset".

Get a life. No one besides you cares.

I care. EU players have all the right to be concerned. Gotto love the ESO fans and their attitude.

Jez and I thought mass complaining and ignorance was reserved for only Americans haha. Well I think that you should feel lucky to get 130ms. Most of the internet in the USA is terrible, compared to over seas. My guess is I will get worse lag than any one over seas. My ping runs around 100-300 to MMOs, like SWTOR, WOW ect... Minus the people who live in citys, most people in the USA, dont have good internet. I download at 130kbs, and upload at 10kbs. I just got moved to this from dial up like 3 years ago.

The cable company wants 80 grand for them to run cable to my house, which is like 2 miles from their line. The phone company wont upgrade there lines out here. I can tell you some people dont even have my speeds, and have to use dial up, or worse sat internet, which gives you 1000ms ping.

True, EU players pay higher price anyway expecting the same experience.

Just for reference btw. The Xbox One is not being sold in most EU countries because they can't provide support for the product there. So what now, we see ethics from Microsoft but not from a new game developer? xD

Its as if those Zenimax guys are more impudent than the DFUW dev team.

Is not the end of the world and maybe not even a game break for those who really enjoy the game, but is a negative detail for TESO launch imo, and yes we have the right to complain.

Just because i have a head heck i cant complain because it could be worse?

People are way over reacting to this.

I mean if EU players are not playing on the US server for worries about being at a disadvantage to us players  then why would US players play on the EU server? They will be at the same disadvantage when the server is relocated in EU.

So they might have slight advantage at the start. Long term yall will be fine so

Most self respecting people simply use Verizon or Google Fiber where available.

If I was you I would just tether network from my smartphone's LTE to my desktop. Which I often do in here when my connection goes AWOL. You just need a good dataplan. Gw2 makes ~50mb every 2-3 hours.
