On the server i'm at we have a guy who uses over 20-30 bots running gold for him he prob has over 100-250mill. I've always been the kinda player who wants to save and never spend money. I haven't gotten into gardening yet but I'm going to need to soon so i can farm glazenuts cause i'd like my house to have a harp and piano. everyone has different play styles as long as your having fun then its all good :P.
agreed. I really want some instruments but it takes multiple 3 star crafting classes plus gardening and 2 star gathering to make them. SO for now Im just waiting for the prices to go down a little bit. But I can farm the hell out of botany mats haha!

My experience playing on the PC was horrible, the layout just did not work for me at all my hands hurt all the time and was constantly getting repetitive stress injuries from the mouse and keyboard.
On the PS4 however it is like night and day. Totally different game, and totally enjoyable.

So you bought two different copies, one for PC and another for PS4 , knowing you can just plug your controller into the PC.
Huh. Weird. I mean I plug in my controller when my hands get tired and im on PC playing it like I would on a console.

I heard WoW was the worst of all. Or did this generation just get lazy? lol

I've always used keyboards and mice for MMOs, but the difference is that I use a macro based mouse that has a lot of keys on the side of it to reduce the number of times I need to use the number row. Really, it's only bad in games that require the user to push keys in a constant pattern since the player has to relinquish control of the movement keys when dealing with some of the further away key strokes.
Have they made it so that you can craft gear that is as good as anything that drops? If so, I'll break out my credit card today.
That was the only reason I quit in the 1st place, I spent a huge amount of time and effort leveling crafting only to find, after the 1st patch that crafters get screwed by raid gear.
This weekend's free weekend has me itching again...I don't know if I want 3 subs though lol. I got with my friends I had since launch to ESO's launch, but I don't know anymore. I like ESO, WoW, and FFXIV, but I've always told myself to limit it to only 2 MMOs. I used to have WoW, DAoC, FFXI, and CoH all subbed at the same time, but I found myself not having enough time to play them all. Dang you love triangles XD
To anyone who has played FFXI ,they would realize Square does not take your money and run, they are imo the best developer for creating an ongoing content riddled game.
Now weather or not you like that content is a whole different story.Square got FFXI content right until Abyssea "that was horrible" and since has been hit n miss with still some really cool ideas.
As for FFXIV content it is always going to not matter to me because the CORE fo any game is it's combat /spells/class design. It was like they took FFXI and dissected it into very small portions in order to RUSH out a design that resembled FFXI.It is because of that original rushed design the game systems will always be feint ant not nearly as good as FFXI was.I expected this game to be better and more in depth than FFXI but is far from it.
Basically without getting into long winded design talk Square has gone the route of Blizzard. That is to make the game a sort of meaningless grind through levels until you can repeat grind the same instance over and over. That is another thing ,the Boss fights are enclosed small circles imo far worse than any instance and really ruins immersion and just the entire feel of a game for me.
This new regime is every bit FF structured in their commitment but the ideals of gaming are long gone with Tanaka and a few other of the vets.I no longer expect innovation from Square but more so the same old same old with a FF skin.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

But we have macros in FF XIV ARR LMAO. And yes, you can map like 10 attack skills to one macro and it will activate them in succession.
Like I said, I think people in this generation is just lazy.

Yup. And it IS a WoW clone. But I don't see how standards have hit an all time lo.

Wow.But you took the screenshot as if it proved that there were lots of people playing. It only proves that there is as many people playing it as a FPS.
The screenshot is from a small area that is not even a hub at all. this is out in the wild. I play Defiance, PS2, And Firefall and never seen this many people ever. Well I guess this is all the people you will see in an fps in an entire fps game. So yeah FPS vs. MMO.......FF XIV ARR FTW !!Try again.
The reason you haven't seen that many people in Defiance, PS2, and Firefall is probably because of all the instancing and phasing going on. There populations might be smaller. But a game with a smaller population could still make more of a community if it didn't use instancing or phasing. In older MMOs you used to be able to see how many people were online on your server. Not anymore.I play a FPS with 30 other people for however long a match takes. Then I go to another match with 30 mostly different people. In an hour I've played with maybe 100 people. Doesn't mean anything....
Please for the love of god i'm begging you, what game? What FPS? I will run out and drop money right now if thats the case.
No money needed. it's free. Cube 2. Enjoy.
So do you mean the movie or the single player/multiplayer game? This is what i get when I search Cube 2 : Google Search Results for Cube 2
Either way it looks awful and not even my 5 year old would play this. Where did you find this game? Buried with the old copies of E.T. ?

Other mmo's promise innovation and give you an "innovative" and SHALLOW game. FFXIV said they're going to give you an mmo that is worthy of the Final Fantasy name. This game, just like WoW when it released, takes elements from other games and executes it BETTER than other games. The game has amazing music, story, and game elements that are rewarding.
This game has more content within 10 months of its release than other games have after 2 years. Nobody says you have to like this game, but to not understand why other's do is mind-boggling to me.
I don't like Grand Theft Auto, the game style is not my thing. I don't like the free roaming type of gameplay where gameplay is open ended, but do I understand why it's an amazing game and why other's like it... i sure do.

i'm sure you see a pattern.... the game is bursting at the seams with content every 3 months. Show me another mmo company that offers THAT much content in that amount of time? I didn't even post the 1-2 mini patches in between the main patches that are filled with Quality of life changes and other content additions.
Those patch notes, if you were to copy and past onto a work document are 24+ pages EACH......

When you say orgi version do you mean 1.0 or 2.0?
I am going to go by that you mean 1.0 which was the abomination before realm reborn, a lot of people might argue against that but it was terrible.
I really wish people would stop strawmanning the whole 1.0 thing, or at best, so grossly oversimplifying it.
For one, very, very few people would ever, or have ever, defended 1.0 - as in, the version of the game as it was launched, or even the first couple updates after that. It's pretty much unanimous that the game was in a horrid state at that point. Those who defend it tend to speak specifically of certain systems, or the setup of some specific aspect of it, which they felt was better - at least in concept if not in execution - than what replaced it in 2.0. Beyond that, I've not found anyone, at least personally (though they may exist - there's always that exception) who has flat out argued that 1.0 was the better version of the game.
When people speak of the game pre-2.0, they are in most every case, speaking of the game from 1.18 and on, especially by the end in 1.23. Due to Yoshi-P and his team's work on the game, it had become a much, much, much better game by that point. Most, if not all, of the horrible systems that plagued it at launch were gone, or substantially revamped/improved. There was a lot more content. The storyline had grown and developed into something awesome - culminating in the 'End of An Era' cinematic. SE themself had even re-introduced subs by that time - and actually earned back many more players than it ever had at launch or during its sub-free period. I recall Yoshi-P stating that they got back over 3 times the players after they reinstated subs, than they ever had prior to that. Whether you liked the game or not, that says a lot right there.
They improved the game as much as they - or I'd argue, anyone - could have given the limitations they were working with.
By the time the finale of 1.23 came about, FFXIV was arguably a very solid and fun game, hindered by things that they would have had to change anyway, such as the graphics/game engine, the network setup, the infrastructure, etc. etc.
The direction the game seemed to be going by the end of 1.23 left a lot of people, myself included, very excited for what the revamp could bring. We expected it to follow the same overall path and direction, just better.
Very, very few had any clue that Yoshi-P would almost completely gut the game he'd turned XIV into by the end of 1.23, and replace it with what is - by his own description (so y'all can put down your pitchforks) - a game modeled after World of Warcraft, with heavy emphasis on Final Fantasy nostalgia (aka fan service).
The game, technically, graphically, has improved 1000x. No question. No argument. As far as the game's design and gameplay now, compared to what the end of 1.23 promised... it just doesn't hold up. I feel the non-technical/hardware/network related aspects of the game at 1.23 were superior to the game we have now. That's my opinion. The game we had with 1.23 felt like a MMO I could have seen myself playing for months or even years. The game ARR turned out to be kept me interested for a little over 30 days before I just lost interest or motivation to continue.
But in any case... I'd just like to people to understand and to stop repeating this lie that "people wanted XIV to stay like it was in 1.0". That is not what people are asking for. It's a dishonest characterization, and I wish people would stop saying it.

Why is it doing so well? Well, it's already bleeding players like crazy, and it DID well because it was a SECOND launch, so they had 2 years to polish it (and remove all the interesting content). It also has no real competition at the time, good brand recognition, AND the asian market to keep it afloat.

Why is it STILL so popular here in the US. Why are all the US servers slap ass full?
Oh yeah because it's the best mmo out. Dont be jealous you cant afford the sub so you have to bash a game doing fantastic.

I don't like the free roaming type of gameplay where gameplay is open ended, but do I understand why it's an amazing game and why other's like it... i sure do.
So your defense of "It's not a WoW clone!" is to show off pictures of a handful of players?
Yup. And it IS a WoW clone. But I don't see how standards have hit an all time lo.

+1
Here's the first patch notes for FFXIV that came out 3-4 months after it's release.
Patch 2.1
Here's teh patch notes three months after that..
Patch 2.2.
And three months after that....
Patch 2.3.
i'm sure you see a pattern.... the game is bursting at the seams with content every 3 months. Show me another mmo company that offers THAT much content in that amount of time? I didn't even post the 1-2 mini patches in between the main patches that are filled with Quality of life changes and other content additions.
Those patch notes, if you were to copy and past onto a work document are 24+ pages EACH......
Because it was under construction for like, 7 years?
Why is it doing so well? Well, it's already bleeding players like crazy, and it DID well because it was a SECOND launch, so they had 2 years to polish it (and remove all the interesting content). It also has no real competition at the time, good brand recognition, AND the asian market to keep it afloat.
Except WoW didn't do that. WoW just released a super casual version of EQ, and relied on brand name recognition, marketing, and timing to launch it into vogue.

Why is it STILL so popular here in the US. Why are all the US servers slap ass full?
Oh yeah because it's the best mmo out. Dont be jealous you cant afford the sub so you have to bash a game doing fantastic.
So jealous LMAO.

No. We commend any game that can take all the broken features in other games and make it fantastic and put it all under one.
Your just jealous you cant pay for the sub and play LMAO.
