Of course you think its like every other game. You played it just like every other game. You made no attempt to try out the parts of the game that set it apart.
It's like playing checkers and complaining its too simple then when given a chess set you use it to play checkers and complain its too simple.
All developers can do is give you options. If you fail to take advantage of it that's on you not them.
Its not really an opinion, when you come in with a title such as this.
The title alone implies that anyone who likes the game is stupid. A true opinion would be to have played the game as it is meant to be played, and then to come and say I found that these features were not to my liking and why, and leave it at that. Don't imply that the rest of the world are morons for liking the game.
I honestly don't get why you feel you have to defend this person. Unless you are like him and feel that simply posting negative stuff about a game because you did not like it is: "an opinion"
It is not.
Since when can an opinion be formed ONLY if it is formed when playing a game in a specific way and presented in a manner that personally doesn't offend you? Sorry you don't agree with the OPs OPINIONS. They are his and he formed them playing the way he wanted to.
You must really have some serious self confidence issues or something if the OP offended you so grievously that you had make that statement. I guess it lessens the pain of the wound if you convince yourself that they really weren't an opinion and therefore doesn't count.
This game doesn't do it for him and obviously it does for you so the problem really is you didn't like what you inferred on your own.
This game is great because it is not easy mode, you can do want.
There is a ton of depth to the game and freedom to play it anyway you want.
There is a sense of accomplishment be it from making a fish pole to landing your first Sturgeon.
There are plenty of easy mode games out there tired of people saying this is too hard, it is not fair, it is a grind, it costs labor you know what it is too hard for you, but not for me.
The game is easy to level in you can not do one quest and get to 50 but people cry questing is not fun, well if you are bored with AA and questing this game is not for you because you are not smart enough to do something else in it.
Go play WoW or one of the other 100 easy mode games, but stop trying to change a great game maybe just maybe the game is fine and you are the problem.
Your statement sounds like your own opinion over rides and discredits others opinion. If a player has an opinion about a game then that's his opinion. If those opinion start to become louder and louder and there starts to be a common trend of players with the same opinion then that's an issue developers are going to think about.
Obviously if somebody is displeased with a game or game mechanics, they will stop playing and voice their opinion WHY they do not like the game. That doesn't mean you have to take it to heart and shoo them away. That's why forums exist, to give players a voice.
This is not saying anybody should discredit your opinion of those players opinions, but to tell somebody to keep their opinions to themselves and go away just wont do. Perhaps these players voice becomes the majority? Then what happens? Should their voice be downsized because now the minority doesn't want "their game" changed? Of course not.
Of course none of these opinion will go anywhere. This is MMORPG.com and devs don't come here for suggestions
The title of this thread was
How do people think this game is great?
Being a Poeple I thought he wanted a response.
The main complaints about the game I addressed that too go play an easy mode game like WoW, it is not like the game is gonna change because the OP don't like it.
What is the point of going around and pointing out stuff you do not like in a game you are not going to play anyways?
Boggles the mind how much time people spend on the stuff they do not like, sorta silly ain't it?
OP, you have a negative attitude in life. You feel you need to point out you are an aethiest under your name is a key to showing me why you are mad and want to point out bad in everything.
You played AA to lvl 10.... and you think you know all about the game, you only get to a few starting areas and dont even have a built character yet at all at that level to experience the combat how it will be later on in the game.
You have not done any PVP at that level, have not built ships, sailed around, built a house, farm, nothing, you did none of the Sandbox stuff and experienced none of the games main features, yet you think you knwo all about it to post all this nonsense in multiple threads.
I think the game is GOOD, not the best ever, but for free, its a hell of a game!
What does that have to do with the OP's thread? I'm an Atheist as well. Trust me, the only ones that are mad are those who believe in adult fairy tales.

Well said! I'm amazed this even needs explained.
Amazing isn't it? Yet people need to be reminded of this on a daily basis because they don't come here to discuss. They come here to tell us how to think and bring up every reason why their opinion is better than ours. Sometimes I don't even know why I bother coming here any more.
OP this game is great because its a better traditional style MMO than any other game out there right now , because of its graphics.
Meanwhile, GW2 is different and people are afraid of the changes.
And there we have it. This and every other thread can now be locked and no other thread on this topic should ever be brought up again. The reason we should all consent to AA being so great and no longer question whether or not the game is great is because....
That's what some posts here are saying. "This game is great", "I love this game", etc. What? Are we playing the same game?
I am NOT trying to troll, but man, some people are easily impressed.
This game is exactly like almost all other Asian MMO's. One person said the story was great. Really? I couldn't find much that I was interested about nor could I connect my character to it. The very first cut scene was cool, but I had no idea what was going on, nor did it even have a voice over to let me know what I was watching.
The game play is the same as almost all other Asian MMOs. Each area, for the first 10 levels or so (I gave up at level 10 out of boredom), are exactly the same. There are *only* 2 mobs that endlessly spawn that just hang around the npcs. The quests are mindless, not even remotely interesting, difficult, or engaging. I didn't even stand reading them because they were so simple and uncreative that I didn't care.
You walk 10-20 feet, then kill 5 mobs, then walk back 10-20 feet to the npc and get almost the same reward. How fun!! Then, you are immediately sent to the next area where you do exactly the same thing, which literally just has 2 mob types that again, just stand around all clumped together, endlessly spawning. There are only 2-3 quests in each of the first 5 areas.
How can people stand it? There's no rhyme or reason why these mobs would even be there, nor have 0 roaming, AI, etc. They are confined to this invisible circle. You kill a few then move on. There's NO danger at all and the game, at least early on, is total EZ mode. I didn't even use a health or mana potion for 10 levels.
So many reviews here/first impressions never look at a game critically. The narrator said this game was a sandbox and I didn't see that at all. They seem to just pander to the developers, like they are getting paid to give them favorable reviews.
So, sandbox eh?. All I say saw was a very linear and boring progression. In 30 mins, I bounced from 5 different areas, which I was directed to. Sure, you can move off *a little* from these area, but that's all. You're not going to find anything "out there", at least not early on. They even spoon feed you with quest direction markers on the ground to make this game even less challenging, if the terribly simple and mindless quests weren't enough.
As far as the expanded crafting, housing, and pvp (I hear), I couldn't find much interest to stay in the game to get to those. The base-level game was just too unimaginative, un-engaging, etc. Talk about ZERO innovation from Asian games. Ouch.
Like another guy said... "this game is....meh". I agree. Pretty graphics don't help the standard formula used in this game.
That was before they tried it. Retention rate is .01%
"The King and the Pawn return to the same box at the end of the game"
I've been in 3 CBs now and still have mixed feelings about it. The farming aspect is pretty addictive and you definitely have goals and various kinds of Pavlovian triggers. The questing is pretty meh but you level fast and get gear so who cares?
My concern is once you are 30 and the questing runs out. Will farming, trade runs, making gold and housing be enough to keep players? Is PvP the hinge that turns on? For players like me who don't like PvP, there are possibilities of supporting a guild via farming and stuff. But will that be enough? I dunno.
For now, I'm glad I can go build something in Rift while I wait for my sheep to grow up. :P

Speak for yourself pls ^^
This game is great because it is not easy mode like most MMO's you work for things and you get rewards for the work you do.
