ESO deserves a 2nd chance

In my opinion, the game is a lot more smooth than it was in May. A lot.

It is getting better with every (monthly) update. With the Imperial city, justice system, spell crafting, and champion system on there way into the game, PVE and PVP users alike should find some joy.

I guess what im getting at is that zenimax deserves a 2nd shot. Launch was horrid, but they managed to turn the game around (mostly, so far) and make it awesome.

If you quit ESO early on, i recommend you look into giving it another try. Its only been 6 months, im excited to see the progress of the game in a year from now.

Care to agree or maybe disagree?

It still hasn't solved it's biggest problem, and the reason that I and many others quit and want nothing to do with it.

It's still a single player game with lousy group incentives, and no community.

What mmos out there where people group up for reasons other then doing an instance? I am not debating what you said because mmos in general seem to more solo oriented but coming from Lineage 2 where people just grouped up all the time I have been looking for a mmo where people grouped.

its been improving, thats for sure. I kind of want to buy a month of game time again but im on the fence. Im waiting to see how good the game will be by the time it releases on console so i can play with official controller support (not xpadder nonsense on pc) so i dont want to waste money on subscription right now if i have to start again on console.

I really like the game and want to play it again one day, so I review the ESO, Reddit, and Steam forums from time to time to see if things have improved.

So far things seem to be the same.  Some people say they have no problems with their computers and others get so many system errors they can't get to the point of logging into the game, and that was a problem during launch.  Still problems with customer service.  Slow fixing bugs and skill trees.  But they continue to redirect with news of major updates when their history of updates have been buggy as well, they fix them a little, then focus on the next big updates again.

But like everyone says, including me, if you're thinking about playing the game go ahead and let the game speak for itself.  Then one way or another you will know for sure.

You need to actually play the game to be able to make a legitimate review about it...

PVP was garbage before...unless they made a few major changes, its not for me.  Once, clans meant nothing int he game as far as pvp.  Then pvp was limited to the one pvp area.  Why not have a pvp server, that game would have been amazing had they had done that.  Even if it was just guild related, meaning guilds could declare on other guilds, that way those not wantin gin the pvp could avoid it, but the one zone...blah.

I'll consider it when I see more positive reviews after major updates.

I don't think the group incentives are really any worse than any MMO so I don't think you can hold that against it. That being said the 1.5 patch will add new incentives for regular and veteran dungeons in that each end boss will drop a rare helm that looks like the monster itself in some way and has a matching shoulder piece (with 2 piece set bonus) that can be obtained via Undaunted quests. There will also be daily quests for dungeons that will get you access to a bronze/silver/gold chest depending on which dungeon (regular or vet) and what objectives you complete.  The incentives are definitely improving very soon.

This was on the ESO twitter feed recently:

As for the dig on the community I have to disagree. The community in ESO has been much better than most I have seen. People are fairly helpful and there is very little public chat channel d-baggery that is present in most MMOs. I randomly group with people and have generally had positive experiences unlike in WoW and other games..where it's an exercise in masochism to group with others.

For me, it's biggest problem can't be solved.

I'm sick of the Elder Scrolls universe.

I've played every ES game over the years and I'm just not interested in the IP anymore.

Despite the controversy with different mmo gamer's on this title, I personally still enjoy this game when I get in the mood for it.

I would say it deserves a "second chance" if a player quit because of launch issues. Which, by the way, in my opinion, wasn't horrid at all. I had no real lasting problems playing. Just annoyances.

Therefore some people aren't even going to agree with you with regards to your reasons on coming back as many people see this game in different ways.

Imperial city, justice system and spell crafting as well as champion system aren't here yet so some might want to wait until those hit and then people comment on how well they implemented them.

Some might not want to play because of how they designed the game to begin with. Truth be told, I can play for a bit and enjoy myself and then I boot up skyrim or morrowind and play several times longer than my eso time because eso is about quests. And those can get tiring for some.

If I wasn't enjoying myself in the least I would have left and only given Zenimax a 2nd chance if they made the game with better exploration (like an elder scrolls game).

So really there is no reason to give this game a 2nd chance unless zenimax has already addressed an individual's reason for leaving.

I don't know what world you live in, but the combat was one of the worst I've played, second to maybe GW2's atrocious style.

Best combat, Best Skill system, Best Lore, Best RvR.

    That's so 2013

If I was running the show over at Zenimax, when I have the champion system and justice system in place and running as envisioned. I would give all past and present subscribers a free month. I sincerely believe that Zenimax would gain a lot more then they would lose.

Didn't know it needed a 2nd chance.  Been playing since beta, everything seems to be going along just fine.  Maybe some of the people who got their free month in and left are re-thinking coming back, who knows.
  • SiugSiug Member UncommonPosts: 1,257
ESO is doing well with the 1st chance already, why would it need 2nd?
  • Spankster77Spankster77 Member UncommonPosts: 487

I actually like everything about this game except for the combat, its just terrible in my opinion.  It just doesn't feel right to me and with the limitation of 5 skills and an ultimate I find myself easily bored.  I am all for action based combat when it's done right like Terra and Wildstar.

Other than the combat the game is awesome, sadly the combat is what you spend most time doing and I just can't deal with it.

I find it hilarious when I see posts like this. ..

ESO didn't and doesn't need another chance. It NEVER FAILED! It never crashed and burnt. It has ALWAYS has been doing GREAT! There's people everywhere in game. No low population! No disastrous launch compared to the real launch fails either. WoW was Much worse.
