While certain people like to use the idea that devs didn't know, it would have been different if this was just a minor things. Introduction of resources is a key element to any survival game and far from just a small thing. This is becoming more and more like the idiot defense.
Iselin: And the next person who says "but it's a business, they need to make money" can just go fuck yourself.
"There is no way to get ammo any other way. You can't buy ammo, you can't buy guns, you can't get them out of a crate. There is ZERO way you have to find them in the world."
I have said if before and i will say it again... there is a big difference between paying 20$ and have a M16 and 4-5 clips dropped right in to your inventory while you hide in some safe spot and a huge, loud airplane trailing green smoke that flies over who know how much of the map before reaching you, trailing a bunch of Zombies (they are attracted to loud noises) and then dropping a box that might.... big might.... contain a gun or ammo... but could as well contain some string and scraps of metal...
The first i agree is P2W... The second is pretty close to more work then it is worth.
So in essence they are not lying... You can not buy guns or ammo... the Airdrop is not a gun-pinata... and guess what before it becomes a potentiall gun it is....*drumroll* Out in the world...
Was it some slight twisting of words.. yes... But not a lie.
I didn't speculate on SoE's intentions. Somebody could have forgotten the cover sheet on a TPS report and the dev on the stream didn't know - who knows? Would a large game studio lie to their players for profit? That's an entirely different subject!
Game studios DO lie - as all companies do - but they do it in a way to where the vast majority of their own employees DON'T KNOW - otherwise again calling meetings and instructing your emplyees to lie = this will sink any large company.
You just make these posts to antagonize people. Now you are backpedaling from your initial post saying companies and employees don't lie. I posted links to proof the opposite, they do lie all the time. Companies and employees alike!
Which brings us back to the point - of h1Z1 devs talking on that youtube video - again were they lying? I don't think so - I think they were simply talking about the game as *they knew it would be* at that time - they had no idea about the monetization details.
This was in an official video with a community representative NOT a developer 3 days before EarlyAccess release.
Even if they did not inform the community representative about the changes they made in monetization, withholding that information and knowingly letting the spokesperson lie on a live stream 3 days before release is the same as telling him to lie. It's deceiving your customers.

The airdrop is very close to you if not right on top of. You just need to go to a remote area in this big open world and use it to get your crate safely. People on the streams have already shown how to do it to get it 100% of the time. You really think this is not going to be exploitable?
If they change it to be a completely random place on the map, do you really think people will pay for it?
This is a monetization feature and it will be adjusted for maximum profit, if you think anything else you are clearly refusing to face reality.
You problem do not understand what lie is... Lie =/= false statement.
Besides the fact that your sentence is kind of not making any sense, i do know the difference between the two.
But what is your point exactly?
Also, complaining that game after release does not look like the game during development is pretty stupid.
Complaining actually worked and Ubisoft admitted that they reduced the quality and reimbursed players as compensation. I would call that admittance of guilt.

Sorry, my sentence got somehow messed up.
The point is simple - if you are claiming someone is lying when they are not, you are likely not understanding what the term means.
Stupid things may yield results, does not make them any less stupid tho.
Watching the firestorm on Reddit is great fun. I don't think I've ever seen such sophisticated verbal acrobatics around any game launch. The fog of BS is so thick in the air that nobody can see past their own noses.
On more than one occasion, the H1Z1 dev team confirmed that they would NEVER sell weapons, food or gear in the Cash Shop.
And they remained true to their word.
There are NO weapons, food or gear in the Cash Shop...

They are going to make the drop area a hell of a lot bigger.

Of course the feature will be tweaked, tuned, adjusted, adapted, nerfed, buffed and everything else possible.
But it won't be removed.
Because in a competitve game, many players will give anything to get an advantage. There are already many justifications being offered as to why the airdrops are acceptable. SOE will make pots of money off this feature...
Big plane making tones of noise, bringing zombies and players on a FFA server. People are going to learn quick what this means and add a lot of fun to this game. Also who cares if their is lots of weapons if there is limited ammo. On a PvE sever this is moot as players will be working together. It all in how they balance it. You have to be honest, they need to make money somehow.

Are you trying hard to ignore the available information or did you just miss it. Let me break it down for you.
Upcoming changes to the airdrops.
-slower airplane (more time for people to see it and get to it)
- servers will need to be at least half full before an airdrop can be called (more people to see/hear the plane)
-Reduced chance of a Gun in the drop. (i do not think i need to spell this one out.)
- bigger drop zone
Now let me outline a few more things that can be tweaked should the rate of gun access be to high.
- Longer flight path of the plane
- More zombies "spawned" by the plane
- even bigger drop zone.
Ofc it is a way to make money... and lot´s of it too. Nobody is denying that. But if the weapon droprate from the crate is not higher then normal containers.... then it is not p2w... and i am pretty sure the actual droprate will be worse in order to drive up sales... as per any other kind of gamble box.
airdrop supplies dropping far from you when you call it,
you have to run to it, literally everyone sees it from miles away
and yeah they are all heading there to loot it. It explodes on impact
and spawning like 10 zombies (zombies don't attack atm its bugged).
When you arrive the Hunger games begin, looting the military create
takes like 10 seconds, plenty of time to strangers to beat you up,
bow/shoot you down.
I find this system a little strange but I would not call it pay2win,
more like pay to give stuff to others, its like a clusterfuck around
the create.
Also you can't call air supply on an empty server only if the
server pop is 1/4 at least. That means min. 50 ppl on a 200
cap. server.
Ya, not pay to win at all. Sounds kinda fun.
You know what would really make it not pay to win? Removing the RMT and having air drops be a game mechanic like in Rust. The way this garbage infects the industry I bet DayZ and Rust will have airdrops in a cash shop next.
They could probably sell guns, ammo and vehicles in the cash shop and people would still defend it saying it wasn't Pay2Win.
I'm really fed up with this early access, half finished game with a fully functional cash shop coming from SOE who is not an indie dev studio. With marketing about helping build the game and founders packs, Free2Play, etc. I subscribed to play Planetside 2 and have set my sub to cancel. Planetside 2 is over two years old and anyone who plays it can tell you it's a buggy mess. From spawning under the map to your gun glowing like a beacon of light the entire time while having your medkits and deployable bug out and not work and getting stuck running backwards and having to restart.

If you are sick of it, dont bother looking at the game till its in full release. Get over yourself, people like to support game companies that are making games they want. You have people chucking money at crowd funded games where only 30% ever see a release and here you get to chip into a game that you know you will get to play.
SoE has to make money somehow and as a player having control over starting a public event sounds like a great way to spend cash. Im bored, lets start something. BANG event. People having tantrums over early access and how they spend their money just makes me laugh. You dont have to do anything you dont want to. I also have the freedom to spend my money the way I think is fun.

Picture this..
One athlete trains years to be amazing in, say, basketball.
Then a law is passed stating that paying referries is legal. And so team with the richest manager is the winner always.
And then.. You show up shouting "omfg this is awesome. Now I can be a basketball player too!"
Lame.

Kind of an interesting feature if you ask me.
Can't blame them for trying to earn money, not as long as they start selling permanent/bound items, or items not available to loot/craft.
In fact I hope this stays so I can loot it off whales.
I wonder how the loot generated in the world it self is tweaked to make players use these air drops.
Joining a server and instantly getting a rifle and 90 ammo, if what OP said is correct. That seems pretty lame to me.
Guess I will wait for Rust to get better, it is getting there and it does not ask you to throw your credit card at the screen to give you more loot.

Try a MUD today at http://www.mudconnect.com/Actually they did not... The information on the airdrop system have been out for over half a year.
It was outlined in detail.
Same with what you can and can not buy in the in-game store.
But i guess a tiny bit of critical thinking is to much to ask... As is research.
