Another low-quality-cash-grab MMO, no thanks.. This so called community they have in their forums is for building hype, then once they think the hype worked, time for paid alpha, I am so tired of these fail "communities" that think they are important; there is money to be made on MMOs before they are released though. I say milk them dry. I will invest in one company and cash-in as well.

ftp and a cash shop, even with cosmetic items. Said items should be in game for crafters to craft. FTP and cash shops corrupt the design process from its inception

There is already emotional attachment to a game that have almost zero information about it.

How? Just how is it possible for people to be already emotionally defending a game that NOBODY knows anything about?

Anything said about this game is pure guessing and wishful thinking.

Every game has them... surprisingly for crowfall the wiz101 players that are interested seem to be much more rational about the whole process, whereas the shadowbane players have been more fanatical about things they know nothing about.

FTP model. Faction only PvP and no player owned assets or asset destruction. I don't want PvP funneled into faction play to fight over static landmarks in game.

We as a community need to stop doing this. Blindly supporting games is what got this genre into this mess.

And every time this happens, people say they won't fall for it again..until they next game announcement.

Especially when all we know about a game is that its only putting a new look on the same tired design.

The instant no would be any kind of focus on pvp.Seriously how do you even focus on pvp,you flag players for pvp?

The best pvp is in an arena with specifically designed maps, you are not going to get that in a rpg type game.Your left with two options circle strafing until you get dizzy and vomit or stand in front of each other and spam your hotbar.Did i mention no thanks?

Another instant no?I have many:Cartoon graphics like Wow or WS,NPC's with markers over their heads,i am not 5 years old i don't need to follow a rope around the world.Structures with no insides, everything in world is instanced including the world itself,no thanks. An entire game designed around solo game play,no thanks why bother having internet and other players if i just play solo.

Oh yes yet even more that says instant no:SOLO combos, such a dumb idea you have other players in a MMO USE THEM.Super lazy combat design as in 200 attack-100 armor-100 mitigation.no thanks, you can do MUCH better than that.Crafting cannot be a hand holding affair neither,EVERY recipe should need to be discovered with a thorough in depth crafting system.

Yes that is a lot of demands, but i have got all of those in just a single game before so i EXPECT it and more now a days.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Neherun, Please stop with the name calling. There is no need for it. You have your way of playing, I have mine, and neither is better than the other. I happen to not like hard core PvP. You happen to love it. It is the reason why we should never play the same game, but we can both be at least respectful and reasonable, don't you think?

Intentional times sinks, limitations and repetitious gameplay would turn me off, especially if these are in place to support a F2P model.

I was reading about The Repopulation.

There was a discussion about PvP and PvE.

The article quoted one of the game designers or coders, and he said something along the lines of "...having a system that allows people to flag themselves for PvE or PvP is really really difficult..."

So if Crowfall is open-world PvP, with no abilty to "flag" yourself for PvE, then forget it.

I haven't even said yes yet........

To early for the hype. Give me some facts first.  I didn't even bother to look at screenshots or anything......if there even available but if its cartoony then it's a nope for me and on to the next great white hype.

The better question is, "What would suddenly make you say 'Yes please' to Crowfall?"

As of 1525 EST this game is vaperware. It doesnt exist except in the minds of the developers. Concept is one thing but c'mon people! This isn't even a game yet. Stop wearing your emotions on your sleeve and make this game WIN you over instead of just giving yourself over to it for no other reason than who is on the development team.

Open world, ffa full loot pvp. S?mple. This "system" is only for some little niche crowd and they already have their games (Darkfall for example). So if you want your game as a small, indie-like project with no hope of success, exactly do this system.

Stages of a new mmo: 1) It's just beta. It still has plenty of time before release. 2) It just launched. Give it time. WoW wasn't built in a day. 3) We don't need you anyway. 4) F2P announced. 5)Huge influx of players. 6) Look how much has changed. 7) Cash shop is the only thing developed lately. 8) It has been a long journey and we thank everyone who was part of it. Shutting down in 3 months. (Courtesy of Robokapp.)

    1) I can live with FFA PVP if it isn't the whole game. In the wilds is one thing, but if I can't own a home or workshop without it constantly being attacked and destroyed, forget it.

    2) Cash shop? Forget it. Anything farther than EVE's plex system is a no go. Otherwise the devs are just creating the best items for the cash shop.

I can see myself giving this game a shot, but the world has to be built right. It has to encourage PVP at the right places and times, and discourage random ganking just to hassle people.I am interested primarily in the crafting game but if the rest of the world is too big of a pain in the butt to live in i will lose interest quickly.

I compare again to EVE. Nine times out of ten in EVE I can go out and just mine or rat and do what I want without really being bothered mostly because the game world is large enough and there are large mostly safe zones. The one time in ten I do get bothered it is usually pretty entertaining. I know if I go into unprotected space I am on my own, and the danger is part of the fun. If I want though, I can just stay in the mostly safe zone and do business.

If Crowfall can capture that same structure in a fantasy game and offer a wide variety of things to do beyond PVP and crafting I will be happy indeed. Lots of  IF'S though, will wait and see.

( Note to self-Don't say anything bad about Drizzt.)

An acerbic sense of humor is NOT allowed here.

If they stray too far from the active living worlds that make the games they often mention and seem to be taking concepts and philosophy from. Namely games like UO and early SWG.

Which means basically not turning into Darkfall. Was it a good PvP focused game? Probably, but I could never get past the lack of ability to do anything else. Everything you could do past PvP was focused on advancing for or preparing for PvP. Shadowbane was a bit better but still had it's issues. I am wholly on the PvPer side of things but I often want more than PvP for the sake of PvP in an MMO, otherwise I could just go play a Fighting Game, MOBA or FPS. Gotta have a little of that RPG in my MMORPG.

    FFA PvP? - Yes Please

Full Loot? - Again, Yes Please

    Consequences? - Again, Yes Please

Just the game needs to have a world with enough interesting ways to play that people are willing to do such even in a harsh PvP environment and feel rewarded while doing so. It should be to where being hit by that random PvPer feels more like a bump in the road that they can get past and move on, and not a giant club beat-down that never stops because PvP is the only thing to do or work toward.

Make it so those people that actually like PvP but don't care much about mindless killing everyone in their path are able to actually protect the people that focus more on PvE stuff. Those caravans they mentioned could be set to head out from towns/camps and could be protected by NPCs and slowly go to a place where they set up camp. The NPCs then guard the area and let players spread out and gather resources, eventually returning to the town/camp they left. Even better they could allow players to sign up as mercenaries on those caravans to take the spot of an NPC guard and get paid for escorting these other people out there. Now you have a way for those people wanting to get rare resources in dangerous areas to do so while being somewhat protected and still targets if they stray away from the camp or the entire caravan gets hit by a large force. The same system could be used to move resources and or just traveling between towns/cities.

Treasure hunting, dungeon spelunking, rare monster tracking, various crafts (blacksmithing to architecture), thievery, etc, etc. All done in a way to where each thing could be a viable way of playing the game and being fun by itself, not just random cave 20 meters deep with a chest at the back and monsters at the front.

I love PvP but a thing a lot of PvPers seem to miss is that it works better when it's part of a whole and not the only focus. When it takes front stage without any other fun systems to back it up it gets repetitive and the community slowly dwindles. Though sadly I at least believe it's because a lot never really got to experience how PvP is when it's part of a world like that and not just siege castle Monday followed by defend castle Tuesday followed by siege castle Wednesday. Early UO, early SWG and early DAoC were all treats for those that got to play them in their heyday and examples in different ways of how PvE, Crafting and PvP can work together in ways to make everything more fun.

Oh and also give people a decently easy way to escape. Thinking like the recall spell in UO that teleported you back to a location you selected ahead of time. Make it decently easy/quick to use but have several ways of stopping it that are a bit difficult to pull off. People need to feel they are somewhat safe no matter where they are or they will just stop putting themselves at risk. Last thing you want is for them to feel they can't do the things they enjoy because they are almost surely going to die, another easy way to lose population/community. Something like 60%-65% chance of escape about would work well, getting away more often than not. Yes it will suck for targets to get away but it will generally mean there are more targets in general out and about as they feel safe enough to do so, so it should balance out.

If I crafted something and someone just walked up to me, killed me and took it. Or if I set up my house and vendors and someone came up and burned down my house and took all my stuff.

I would most likely find something else to play.
