Tick the checkbox that is unticked by default that says something like ultra mode/ultra graphics.

You need a good system, it will give you a fps hit but on my pc I am using it with a steady 60+fps and it makes the smallest things appear in the distance which you would only see if you went like 8 times closer to it on very high graphics.  or see some videos that show the difference with and without ultra mode.

For a mmorpg the game is gorgeous so the game is gorgeous, ofc a single player game u know might look better but that does not change anything technology is not there yet to make a mmo look much better than this and function at the same time.

Character screenshots turn out well because that is what they want to be the focus. The world does quiclkly become blurred and really difficult if not impossible to take nice screenshots at a distance. I have tried to continue my semi daily screenshot going on twitter but BDO really offeres no opportunity to take them... 1) First Person mode is atrocious and 2) everything becomes blurred and blotchy in a very short distance.

Other than that the game looks good and doesnt really take much PC power to hit very nice settings either which is a plus.

    It is gorgeous. Period.

Sure, there are some restrictions depending on the quality of graphics cards etc.
And if you like WOW cartoony graphics, or Animé, then sure, maybe the realism is not what you want.
And does each screen look like a photograph?. No, of course not.

But compared to the rest of the MMO's out there??? Gorgeous graphics.

Ok some info for you, OP. The exact viewing distance seems to be decided by the client depending on your hardware. For example, with the exact same setting my desktop computer gets better viewing distance than my gaming laptop. However, none of them have blur or low rez (cause both have Improved Distance checked). It is a bit weird that the user can't control the viewing distance entirely I agree. But the bottomline is that your computer must be quite old. From the sounds of it, it has worse specs than my laptop. Invest in better hardware if you want to max this game (I love the game and I'm investing in the new Nvidia cards as soon as they're released)

Yes I'm serious, sure you can see far but it aint pretty.
I have evrything on max except high end mode, I didnt notice much of a difference with it enabled only its a fps hog.
"This game's view distance sucks! I have everything on MAX except view distance!"

TIP: High End Mode=Improved Distance=View Distance. Use it. Don't come here and complain because you didn't max your view distance in settings.

You having problems understanding what I wrote?
If you dislike the distance blurr, disable "screen filter".
Otherwise, what you say doesn't make any sense. I was at the top of that tower part of the spirit quest line, and I could see up to the horizon, the view distance is impressive.

If i disable screen filter game engine AA are so poorly that It looks ugly at distant objects such as houses and trees.

View distant sure you can see far but as i sead before It's not much to look at, very low polygon objects in the distant, yes i know you cant have the same amount up close as far away, but check for an example LOTRO, ESO, AoC for reference.

I simply don't agree with this at all.

I've watched quite a few videos on this game and scrolled through hundreds of screenshots.  If this game is anything at all, it's great looking.  In fact, I'd say that compared to the vast majority of MMO's out today, it's fantastic looking.

This game's "issues" as far as I'm concerned lie with core game choices, the cash shop, and some of the game mechanics but certainly not in graphics department.
Screenshots lie, yes when you take a screenshot you get better looking than what it actual looks ingame, its a "feature" they have.

Wait, are you telling me that there's a screenshot filter for the game that performs additional post processing effects when you push the screencap button?

I googled this and didn't see any corroborating data for this, but if it's true, then FFS that's like the 3rd sneaky underhanded bullshit thing I've heard from this company so far.  If people are posting screenies to the net and saying look how great this game is, but that's not what it looks like when you're running around the world, then that's.... bullshit.

Yes the game looks sweet to some degree, up close sure it has nice details and sweet graphics but you cant really say overall graphic is gorgeous due to view distance sucks really bad, you either have it blurred out or if it's not It's very pixilated and poor AA you cant really climb up on a mountain and say damn what a view It's all a blurry far away and no details.
You got flickering shadows and object sometimes popin, there is so many things that really kill the overall graphic experience, as I sead sure up close and you are standing still looking about 20m infront of you it does look sweet, try climb a hill next time and try to enjoy the vista.

Because it has got some very nice things about it and people have been crying out for something new for us.
However i have not bought it as i dissagree with the pricing structure. They seem to think that the dollar is worth the same as the euro (thats fine as there more or less the same) but to class GBP the same worth is not right when it means a 50% increase in cost to us.
So with that, i am with all the other GBP people and not getting this game as it would be $45 to us and not $30
I'm from the UK and I didn't get the option to purchase in GBP. I paid in euros so it was only £23 for me or $32. It's still silly I agree but it's not $45.

I'm from europe so I get your annoyance but sadly it's been like this since forever. Even subscription prices are the same regardless of your currency.
Nope they is a conversion rate. so $29.99 would be converted down to about £19.99.
first time i have seen a company not bother with conversion at all, yet they would happily convert it to theirs knowing full well they just got an extra 50% payment from us.
Untill then the only way i will get this is to win it.

View distance is no less or greater than any other game I play.  The overall graphics are amazing, on par with any recent single player game, like Fallout 4, and it's an MMO.

The character texture pop-in is obnoxious, and my only complaint.  Aside from that though I'm not sure how anyone can find fault with the visuals in the game, unless they're playing on an underpowered PC and have to turn a lot of the options down.

I can see not liking the art direction, that's very subjective, but the visual quality really isn't a subjective thing.  With the setting turned up the game is visually amazing, and again, it's not a single player game, it's an open world MMO.

I still get object pop in in high end mode. I5 6600k, ssd, gtx 970ti, 16GB

It's noticeable on a horse the most or whenever going fast.

Yup. I'm running it at highest settings and NPCs in crowded areas appear as a black silhouette and then get rendered with a pop. Objects not so much and culling distance for players in crowded areas (say... the Velia docks) is small. You see someone go by in a raft and then they disappear not all that far away from you.

Having said that, I still think the detail and art style make it a gorgeous world.

    Turn off screen filter.
It is off. It doesnt do much.

Would be nice to see some screenshots taken from you guys with good PCs with graphic cranked up max, not up close street with houses shots, I mean a good shot so you have trees, objects, fields in the distance preferable from a high location.

Edit: without the Photoshop feature of theirs you can use, just a print screen shot.

A seamless MMO world looking like this.... No, no other MMO has the overall graphical oomphh this game has. Some specific parts perhaps, like DMkano mentions. Then again, both mentioned ESO and TSW are FAR from seamless worlds...

I think this game looks insane and honestly think that people that do not like the graphics are either A. Nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking B. Do not like the graphical style which is perfectly fine. Witcher 3 looks better yes, but I find it very hard to name one other game, MMO or not, that looks this good.

Furthermore, this game runs great on average systems, something that can NOT be said of Witcher 3, it is very optimised. Beauty might be in the eyes of the beholder but this game is gorgeous no matter from which angle you look at it.

This is the issue I have with my 970 aswell, hence my OP, might be a graphic glitch then or poor Anti Aliasing.

Are you trolling Maugrim? You say right here you don't have High End mode enabled. Without high end you can't have improved distance.

Graphics looked good on an ok level but not really that impressed probably would have looked better if I played around with some settings but the game as a whole was ok-ish.  I always expect official in-game vids to look good so it's hard to tell with those.  I was actually more impressed by ESO's graphics.

    View distance.

    Black Desert

    Vanguard

I like Black Desert but view distance is not on the same level as Vanguard. Obviously we don't know the spec of these two PC and what they have turned on but it would take a lot to beat Vanguards view distance imo.

My screenshots above show a good draw distance on an i7 with a R9 380 4 GIG and 16 Gigs of RAM
Vanguard had draw distance down like no other in my opinion. It came at a cost though. A cost BDO does not have to pay.
Some people had major issue's with Vanguard but i really can say i fell through the world a few times and nothing else major. I had Sli 8800 gtx at the time so i really didn't see the problems some other players had. I played from beta till shut down but my post and the OT is not really about performance of the mmo and more to do with features.
