imageHello Games Introduces No Man's Sky Beyond & 'No Man's Sky Online' - MMORPG.com

Hello Games is teasing out No Man's Sky Beyond, the next major step forward for the game. Sean Murray said that Beyond will make big changes to the game in the same way that the Next content expansion did in summer 2018. Most notably, Murray wrote about "No Man's Sky Online", though he did say that NMS is not an MMO but that it will feature "a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together".

This is why the best games need to weather the early reviews and rocky starts. NMS has consistently gotten better and better to become something special despite the trauma -- literally in this case -- of the horrible start. Hello Games stuck to it and made a great game. This new addition will be fantastic!

It's crazy how much they have worked to fix what they originally had come out. I bought it right before the big updates started happening and I've been pretty happy with it.

Can't say I'm a fan because of the genre, but this is a commendable case of a company sticking with their game long after their obligation to do so. Probably the biggest redemption story since Warframe evolved from threadbare mediocrity to one of the biggest f2p titles we have.

I hope that this type of turnaround can be repeated with certain launch failures of the last year.

They could not have cared, they could have abandoned ship. But they didn't.

Well done Hello Games, we forgive you and Sean for your past deeds.

Needs to make no man's sky 2. Keep it looking exactly the same. Keep gameplay the same. Wipe all previous progress. Everyone will LOVE IT! LOL!!

No need. All they need to do is create a new mode , say .. "Online Mode" , where everyone will start from scratch.

I played NMS right after Next was launched for around 100 hours and I loved it !!

Now, all they need to do is add Online , close to how MMO's work , including PvP and stuff and Ready Player One might come to reality.

My vision for NMS is to become some short of Ready Player One. It has all the "keys" to become one. Imagine going full VR in NMS.

    Lovely!

"a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together".

If they pull that off it is more MMORPG like than a lot of MMOs out there.

The reviews for this game have moved into the mostly positive category, I never thought it would happen. I feel like this game can become so much more if they keep plugging away at it.

Still not fond of the posturing they did during interviews. When Next launched and they tried to cover tracks by saying "The launch title was exactly what we had intended it to be." was a rather brazen slap in the face and disregard for all the false advertising of features that had lead up to the launch.

Hello Games refused to acknowledge a misstep and instead wanted to sweep it under the rug and look forward as if it never happened. That was a poor stance to take as a company in my opinion.

That they committed to action at least, and have maintained momentum in turning the game into what they had originally sold it to be, if taken in isolation, is still a commendable achievement.

Mixed bag for me really as a result. I appreciate that they buckled down and did what they had to do, but I do not like the way they tried to dance around the PR as a company.

I can understand your hesitation and I do agree with some of your points. I feel they should have owned it since the beginning and not tried to hide from the mistakes that were made.

having said that, I do appreciate that they did in fact "get there" and not just abandon it as vaporware which is pretty common right now. If the entire hobby could progress to honest advertising, and releasing a game that is complete on launch day, that would be pretty amazing.

I do enjoy this game and I am happy to see production continue.

Whats funny for me , is actually bought it a couple weeks after launch , Because i wanted to see how bad it was .. lol..

And it was bad , but i fought thru a lot of technical stuff , and game bugs ,  but was enjoying myself and felt that underneath the hood was a great game if they could iron out the bumps ..

Hello Games came thru , now i do fault Sean for saying some of the things he did prior to launch which just fed the bad reviews .. But he has made good on his game and its only getting better with each update

It's okay! All developers take note! It's better to botch your games initially. All will be forgiven after you sell some DLC that fixes the game. Like the division did! Then sell a "sequel" aka expansion. Everyone will buy! Clever Ubisoft. I can't wait to play Fallout 77, the "sequel". It will be amazing and everyone agrees!

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

I do not think you understand what is being said here...or you quoted the wrong people. No one thinks it is ok to release an unfinished game with most of the advertised features missing. The only credit here is that Hello stuck to it and eventually got the game finished. Which is rare.

Plus on top of that hasn't charged anything for any of the continued development, proving they want to release the product that they initially promised.

It isn't right that they released it unfinished, but who knows what was going on behind the scenes, maybe Sony pushed them to do it. I'm just happy that they stuck with it, kept their word, and made it a great game.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'
